Row 34 - Portsmouth
Row 34 has a good location for Hotel visitors and local apartment residents.
Always great oysters, shrimp cocktail and service..
Our waitress, Spencer, was wonderful! Great place and ambience. The shrimp scampi was delicious.
They do a good show following the COVID rules and trying to keep us safe. Their burger and fries are always good. Oysters are the best. The coating on the fish and chips is crisp and very satisfying.
Had a delicious meal with my family as a belated bday celebration. Started off with the shrimp ceviche followed by the lobster gnocchi. It was phenomenal!!! There were generous pieces of lobster, squash and greens. It was so delicious. They waitstaff was so friendly and very accommodating of my two little ones. Would definitely return!
Great restaurant with great cocktails in a convenient location. Excellent seafood and service.
I had stayed away from Row 34 a lot thinking as a vegetarian it wouldn't be great for me, but wanted to go with a friend. I was pleasantly surprised to find out I could get most dishes vegetarian and plus the cornbread was delicious!
Row 34 has maintained its culinary and service standards in this difficult time, and we had a delightful, relaxing dinner there this week. Alas, the $1 oysters are missing, and the menu a bit shorter than before, but probably to be expected - hope they can weather a N.H. winter!
Great food, great drinks - cocktails and beer
I had read this place serves the best lobster roll anywhere... I was skeptical, but must say I agree!!! Fish and chips also delicious!
Place is more like a bar scene than a fancy restaurant. Decor is sparse with a modern flair. Wine list is quite expensive. The oysters that my wife had were very good. Blue crab cake was marginal. This was our first time there but with so many other good restaurants in town we doubt that we will return there except may be for a drink.Noise level is quite high
Menu is a little limited for our liking so we ordered the Fish and Chips w Fries. The fish was very good but the fries were very very salty.
I have always had such great service when dining or drinking at Row 34. And being one of the first times my boyfriend and I went out after COVID, we were unsure and anxious but WOW they made us feel so comfortable and welcome. 5 stars all around, always
COVID-19 precautions were great; we sat at the bar and had ample space. The drinks, food, and quality of service was top notch. Can’t wait to go back. Highly recommend.
Great atmosphere, delicious food and friendly servers!
Amazing food and great service.
The food, cocktails and service were outstanding! Had the lobster roll and clam chowder! Delicious and very fresh! Nice ambiance and friendly professional staff.
Our party of four was lucky to make a same-day reservation at the consistently great Row 34 on a Friday. Our server was very good and the sample platter of pates and smoked fish was excellent as was the salmon entree. Row 34 is one of Portsmouth’s best dining experiences.
One of the best in Portsmouth, which is saying a lot since there are so many great restaurants. Consistently good.
If you love seafood, this is your place. The menu is very small and not a lot to choose from. For the price that we paid for dinner, the portions were extremely small and my husband was hungry almost 1 1/2 later. Shrimp cocktail was great, the dinner was ok, nothing special, especially the chicken breast. It was very plain.
Was enjoyable to come back with my spouse to enjoy a dinner. Had oysters, and some of the appetizers. A little disappointed with the scallop ceviche, as it was pretty bland.
Enjoyed a bottle of Sancerre Blank 2018 and a ginger spice cocktail. Our waiter was great.
Awesome food, drinks and service. Definitely recommend!
The service was excellent! We were celebrating our mini moon and they sent us some extra small plates on the house which we’re delicious! Very aware of covid safety and we felt safe eating inside with them. Highly recommend !
Very pleased to have Row34 back in action! Not that they've been closed. Mostly I'd been getting takeout until now.
It was lovely evening eating out on their pretty flower filled patio. Our server, Spencer, took great care of us. All protocols were being followed. Inside the tables were more than adequately spaced, as were parties at the bar.
As for the main attraction - the seafood- all was fantastically fresh & delicious. The tuna crudo with black garlic aioli was perfect. We also tried the special fluke ceviche. SO light and nuanced with tons of flavors - coconut, chile, lime, cilantro & more.
I had the fluke main which was served with roasted local squash and housemade ricotta gnocchi. This under appreciated local fish was pristinely fresh and perfectly cooked with a great crust.
My dinner guest had the scallops, always a Row34 favorite. They didn't disappoint. The incredibly light beurre blanc didn't overpower these delicate beauties.
Tried some new wines. The gruner veltliner being poured by the glass was perfect with our first courses. Because it was cool outside I enjoyed a pinot noir with my meal.
Everyone knows row34's beers are amazing but their wine list is first rate too.
Wish we'd had room for dessert but alas no room...next time!
We love Row 34. Our waiter was great and everything came out great. Overall great meal, great experience.
Excellent meal, nice wine list
The service was less than par. The food was not worth the price point. We had reservations and still had to wait, which I understand can happen but they then put us at the worst table in the whole place. They were out of one of the menu items and offered and alternative which I agreed too, BUT they served me a dry piece of fish over Brussel Sprouts and charged me $30. We had to ask multiple times for bread and a straw. This had high reviews but we had two meals at BRGR Bar and Surf that blew Row 34 out of the water!
The ambiance is clearly affected by the raucous street scene. It’s a party scene nearby. The food was just OK. Limited menu, a bit pricey. The food was only fair. We were out for our anniversary and hoped for something special. Meh.
Nice set up and yet very limited menu with high cost to value ratio. 5 shrimp with pasta $29.00
We ate outside on the side of the building for our 10th anniversary.
The area was decorated with potted plants to create not only a barrier but also an atmosphere where you could imagine the patio was always there.
Our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable about both food and drink, and attentive without hovering.
We had been grazing through the afternoon and thus were not hungry for a heavy meal, so we settled on raw bar including shrimp cocktail. The tray of oysters were cold, shucked perfectly, and just as described by our waitress. The shrimp were large, firm and perfectly cooked. We also ordered tuna crudo. Thin slices of raw tuna wrapped around perfectly ripen avocado slices sitting on a bed of black garlic purée with crispy fried shallot I think, adding the needed change of texture to this otherwise creamy dish. The tuna was fresh and the black garlic purée is sweet, absent of the harsh bite that uncooked garlic possesses.
We skipped dessert on this visit in favor of going for ice cream, but I highly recommend trying their house made butterscotch pudding made with actual scotch and topped with puffed rice adding a nice crunch.
This restaurant has consistently friendly and knowledgeable service, and fresh, expertly prepared seafood.
Excellent selection of oysters and seafood based appetizers with a large drink selection for pairing. Great night out. Staff and patrons adhered to COVID safety guidelines. Contactless payment option was great.
I would give Row 34 ten stars if I could! My husband and I had such an insanely delicious meal. We Also very much appreciated a complimentary side and dessert for our anniversary. The service was just as amazing as the food! Also the Rosé was some of the best I’ve ever had!
Had a great dinner! The staff were friendly and the restaurant implemented pandemic precautions such as socially distant seating and outdoor dining option
I have been to Row 34 in Portsmouth many times and I always want to go back! The oysters are always fresh service is always wonderful!
Oysters were decent. Spencer’s service great. Worst martini ever. Bad olive juice? Vodka? Not gin. Dunno. Couldn’t drink. Asked for ans was told my cocktail was served up. Nope. Rocks. Watery. Which is why I ordered up. White wine. Maybe tasty. Warm. Not even room temp. Saw others go out chilled. Island creek in Portland and duxbury on point. This place. Maybe a bad night. I appreciate it’s a pandemic. But cold wine and righteous cocktails isn’t asking a lot. Sorry to be. A dick
One of my favorite places, from food, to drinks, to the staff!
The food was delicious but the overall experience, despite being the end of the night felt extremely rushed. Food came out instantly and felt rushed along entire time despite being well within 90 minute allotment and despite restaurant emptying out after us so there was no need for that level of rushing us.
The food was amazing and the ambiance was perfect.
Great overall experience here as always. Service was amazing and dinner, although pricy...was delicious. Get the cornbread! Highly recommend this restaurant
The service was outstanding and the food was super fresh. There were several unique options to choose from. The beverage menu was fun as well. This is a place I will certainly return to next time I am in the area.
