Royal Stewart Dining Room
Jul 7〜Sep 19, 2021Take part in a unique Waterton tradition with Afternoon Tea at the Prince of Wales. Inspired by British tradition, Afternoon Tea features a selection of teas and a variety of delectable sandwich squares and pastries. Tea is served in the Prince of Wales lobby, which overlooks Waterton Lake for some of the most spectacular views around. Join us for this unique experience daily from 12 PM to 4 PM during the Prince of Wales operating season.
Three of us had High Tea at the Prince of Wales Hotel on the last day before they closed for the winter. The Royal Stewart Dining Room is lovely and the view is stunning, so it's worth going to experience that aspect. However, we all felt the price was too high for the amount of food served. I found the pastries to be OK but not excellent. The service was very good and our waitress was friendly and accommodating. When I made the reservation, I was asked if we were celebrating a birthday, and I said we were. However, nothing was done to acknowledge the birthday. I might go back to have a meal there to try out their menu, but I wouldn't go to High Tea again.
Enjoyable and definitely one of the better high teas we have experienced.
Wonderful afternoon tea. The view is spectacular! Enjoyed the African nectar rooibois.
Very impressed! The view alone would be worth eating here even if the food was mediocre- which it isn’t! The food is delicious and much of it is locally sourced. The service is prompt and friendly. I recommend making a reservation for around sunset.
Wine selection was very limited, but understand it was end of season. How about more BC wines.
Like going back in time in Scotland. Beautiful view of the lake.
Very nice afternoon tea! Great view of the lake. Food was lovely
Went for my Mom's Birthday and regretted it. From the start, the server picked up our mugs (like cappuccino mugs... not even tea cups) from the rim where we sip tea from. It was all downhill from there... There was 1 measly pot of water for the 2 of us to share. The bread was stale on the sandwiches and the scones were rock hard. The macaroons were delicious, but not good enough to save the rest of the afternoon and I won't be going back!
Was a fun experience.. great views and the food was amazing!
Excellent service great people really friendly food was excellent drinks great good night all around
The Menu is interesting with choices between wild meat and more common dishes. The desserts are to die for.
Beautiful room and view. Wait staff were very friendly and attentive. Food was so-so. Also, it is very windy there and there was a cold draft coming in which made it a little uncomfortable
Great staff and excellent food quality, but over priced for what you get. Service is top notch.
We loved our high tea experience! They even do a gluten-free option!
The server Justin was brilliant, very attentive and cheerful. The whole dining room staff were fabulous.
Tip: the walnut shortbread was a gift from the gods.
Drawback: we had a window table in order to enjoy the spectacular view....except the windows were so dirty/streaky in the light, that it impaired what should have been a majestical view 😕
The dinner was delicious. Appetizer was fantastic. They were out of sweet vermouth for the advertised Manhattan which seemed odd, but the old fashioned was delicious.
Service was excellent. Music was a bit of an odd selection (light rock?) And a bit loud, I'd have thought a softer classical or light jazz to be more apropos to the setting.
Very enjoyable! However would have been a little nocer if tables had been set with linens and nice table settings.
Our reservation was incorrect and one person corrected it and then gave our view table to a walk in….very disappointing.
Part of the reason to go to the Prince of Wales is the view.
Table Server was slow to bring water to the table when my 85 year old mother-in-law started choking… had to flag down another server. Perhaps the Table Server didn’t understand the urgency, but should have been more responsive.
Not what I expected. Been to an afternoon tea in Scotland and experience was different.
Didn’t enjoy the salmon savdwich. Left most of the food. Not to my taste.
Was good, but when told about an allergy they only took one serving of said item off the dish for Afternoon Tea instead of all of them. Also didn't ask what we may have wanted to substitute for the item.
What a lovely afternoon experience…..it’s so charming and the friendly staff and great service was a wonderful add on…. I would definitely go there again.
Amazing view, if you're at a window seat. Good, friendly service, with a promising menu that let us down a bit. Bread plates were on the table when we sat down, but no bread was proffered. We had two entrees and a dessert, no alcohol, and broke the hundred dollar mark with the tip (20%). For that kind of coin I would expect a dinner roll, at least. I had the elk ragout and she had the bison steak. Good flavors, steak done properly. Presentation uninspired. Veggies were a little tired. Friendly, attentive waitress, kept our water and my diet coke filled. Just fell a bit short of what we where hoping for.
The food was delicious and portioning was balanced well.
Staff was very friendly. Food was great :). Will visit again next time we’re down in Waterton.
Did High Tes
Excellent wayto spend the afternoon with the family. Everyone had fun.
Everything we tasted was delicious. I had the roast chicken. My husband had the special which was duck ravioli with a roasted vegetable salad. We also enjoyed the sticky toffee pudding. So good!
Luke, our server, was amazing and accommodating, the food was delicious and the historic ambience of the building carried nicely through the dining room. The overall experience was equal to the priceless view of the lake.
The elk ragout was amazing. We also did afternoon tea and breakfast. All meals were delicious and plated nicely. The service was great! Get a window seat if you can.
Went for the afternoon tea (gluten-free version). Water for the tea came from thermos jugs (not hot enough) and the tea was steeped from bags. The gluten-free food option consisted of a single plate with two thinly filled finger sandwiches, a couple of devilled eggs, two brownies (possibly vegan judging from the unusual taste), two macarons (not bad), two small almond cookies (also not bad), and some prepackaged hard shortbread (probably Walkers and not very good). Also opted for a mimosa, which tasted like it was mostly orange juice. All in all, not even close to the quality of the gluten-free afternoon teas offered at the Fairmont hotels in Calgary and Banff.
Our server was super nice and the staff was very accommodating. They gave us a corner seat when we told them we had an immunocompromise family member.
This type of service is very hard to come by these days! An awesome time! They made our last day at Waterton very memorable. Thank you!
Henry was the best. We don’t often comment on servers, but he deserves special recognition.
We went on a Thursday not crowed, we enjoyed the amazing view and the food was very good
It was amazing, so enjoyed it. Fine China teacups would have put it over the moon.
High tea in the Royal Stewart dining room was a pleasant experience! The view was awesome and food & service were great.
Great evening, excellent food. The room is beautiful and takes you back in time.
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal, server and most of all the view.
Our waitress was very sweet and personable . Cool hotel and restaurant!
