Russell House Tavern
Excellent meal great food and service also reasonable
Good price, nice service and excellent foods
Considering COVID, the Russell House was fairly crowded but the organization was there to keep everyone distanced and safe. We, my wife and I, sat at the bar, basically in an area that would normally seat 6 people, again very safe. The brunch was pretty good although the delivery was a little slow: It wasn't an issue as we were watching the Pats Game. Overall a good time and meal !!
Our waitress was super funny and helpful, food was great, comfortable outside with the heaters! Thank you for the evening!
Plenty of outdoor seating. $1 oysters from 4-6. We've been three weeks in a row. My husband enjoys the oysters and I get a glass of wine and either the pizza or burger. Both are delicious.
The restaurant exceeded our expectations! It was so pleasant sitting on the heated patio under lovely twinkling lights. The food was delicious and the service was great.
My wife Julie and I enjoyed our experience at The Russell House Tavern. Excellent food combined with friendly service and warm ambiance made this an enjoyable experience. Check this place out!!!!
The service and food was outstanding. I highly recommend dining here. Eating outside in courtyard was beautiful with the lights.
We went for Sunday brunch and dined outdoors. We were seated in the alley patio next to the restaurant. It was a great space to eat out in. There’s plexiglass dividers between tables and heaters, which we didn’t need as it was in the 70s. The staff were all friendly and professional. There were 4 of us and we all had different meals. We each loved what we got. The only quibble was with the reservation. We had a 1:00 reservation and had to wait 20-25 minutes to be seated. Not sure if any restaurant would honor our reservation had we shown up 20-25 minutes late for it, so keeping us waiting on the street when we were on time, wasn’t ok. That being said, we didn’t rush once seated, nor did they rush us. Once seated, we had a great meal, and a great time.
Shakshuka eggs were poached hard - not runny :/
Food was good, though a little pricey for the portion sizes. The ambiance is nice (as nice as it can be during covid with plexiglass between tables). Our server was very non existent which was Mostly ok since we were chatting away but when it came to the bill she accidentally charged $90 for a bottle of wine which was $40 on the menu we ordered from.. just glad I didn’t throw my card down before checking. Check your bills!
Cool place. Not sure what else to write here for a min or 50 characters
We had a longggggggg wait for our table (even though we had a reservation) and our drinks took at least 25 minutes. Loved the food and vibes, but the service was a bummer.
Such a fun scene - we always feel welcome & comfortable.
it is very cold outside they should make the heating lamp more powerful
Enjoyed the outdoor patio even on a cold evening. Glad to have a great outdoor dining option.
Our waiter Ben was wonderful Sunday morning for brunch (:
We had brunch - ok choices. Waiter was struggling - not sure why. Safety set up indoors was great
I loved the atmosphere! It’s a great spot right in the heart of harvard sq. The omelette I ordered wasn’t traditional, more like scrambled eggs with some veggies not cooked in. But over all the atmosphere was great and we still had a lovely brunch.
We had a great meal on the patio with our puppy. Our waitress was extra accommodating and our meal was lovely.
Russell House Tavern has always been an enjoyable outing but is even more so in these challenging times -- it's a beacon of comfort and normalcy. The food is ever-delicious -- such as staples like the mushroom leek pizza and burger as well some new items like the warm spinach salad, sausage ricotta pizza, and short ribs! Check out the ever changing desserts! Kudos to the team for making us all feel safe throughout.
Server was very courteous, but the kitchen was slow. All brunch dishes were a 5, except the kale bowl. The cauliflower was indistinguishable from the quinoa and Brussels were not cooked enough for my liking. Burger and fries were great and the stuffed French toast was especially good.
really bad service, both orders of steak were overcooked
We booked a last minute table on a Sunday afternoon for my birthday with no issues. The courtyard tables were separated by plexiglass and all other tables were spread out. We had our own heater, which was perfect since it was a little chilly. The food and drinks were excellent, the ambience was lovely and the service was impeccable. Definitely one of my favorite places in Boston for cocktails and oysters!
I’ll start off by saying I give restaurants a lot of credit for operating during a pandemic. With that being said, there were a bunch of things that when added up created a less than enjoyable experience at Russell House. My table of 6 went here for brunch, two of us ordered the burger, 2 the Nashville hot chicken sandwich, and the other 2 ordered a pizza. The burgers were over done and tasted charred, the Nashville hot chicken sandwiches were not spicy at all but otherwise fine, and the pizza was just okay. Additionally, the waiter was not attentive at all and did not seem busy with other tables. For these reasons, I give the experience a 3 out of 5, plenty of better options with the same price point in Cambridge!
Been here a couple times. I have a friend that used to work here and the first time I went was about a year ago. this weekend, I'm glad to say, nothing has changed. good vibes only
Service was somewhat slow but the waitress was really friendly. Appetizers took 25 minutes for the corn and oysters. Corn appetizer was delicious but came out actually cold, not as if it was hot and took a while but like actually straight from the fridge. Nashville chicken sandwich had no spice at all for being called a hot chicken sandwich and spots of the breading were burnt, and the salad it came with was just lettuce - no detectable dressing. The bun and ranch were delicious though. Drinks were fantastic, ambiance was beautiful - like the outdoor seating option. Maybe just an off night for the chef.
Cozy spot with great outdoor seating
Great food and service
I love Russell House. I really enjoy their cocktails, but this is my first visit since Covid and they really weren’t up to their standard. I ordered two always sunnies and they were both different and did not meet their pre-Covid standard. We also ordered a Moscow mule, something that we really enjoy because they make their own ginger beer, this was also not up to their pre-Covid standards of yumminess. I also ordered my FAVORITE Jonah crab cakes and they were prepared substantially differently from their standard. I’ve ordered these countless times and was extremely disappointed not to get what I was expecting. There were also rancid nuts in the cheese platter, which was frustrating. I’m sure they have lost staff, but revisit your recipe books and go back to the old recipes and make sure you’re consistent in the execution. I really love Russell House, I hope they can find their footing again in the new normal.
Outdoor dining experience was really quite nice. Nice job with service and ambiance.
The menu is rather limited. Hopefully it is just for the current troubled times. Overall a nice experience and a good vibe. Good for a dinner with friends as well as for a date. Meat and fish were really good. Fries not that much (really soft and got cold in a minute): you can go better with other sides.
We were so pleased to see proper social distancing in action at Russell House. We had a comfortable, delightful, and delicious dinner. Looking forward to returning.
It was nice place overall I just think the chicken was a small mishap. I would still here again.
My wife and I wanted to enjoy a nice night of oysters and cocktails, and Russell house definitely delivered
Beautiful outside seating (they have inside too) very clean and safe. Delicious entrees nicely plated. Wonderful service -a perfect night out!
All food was great except for the veggie pasta dish - very flavorless unfortunately. Good service. One of our favorites.
The menu was inventive and reasonably priced. Our server was professional and very conscientious about safety protocols. Our meals looked like something out of a food blogger's dreams and tasted even better. I'm sad my stomach couldn't hold more, or I would have tried everything! This is a charming restaurant that is handling the pandemic in the best possible way. Looking for an excuse to go back immediately!
Always a joy! Even during COVID, prompt service. Highly recommend. Sitting inside downstairs can sometimes be ideal as the dining environment upstairs is crowded & noisy.
