Charcuterie board was awesome. Lovely wines by the glass. Great service.
First visit to San Diego Gas Lamp District; first visit to Rustic Root - it was wonderful. Thank you.
Wish there were more Vegan options. Seems it would be easy to do with the quality ingredients already presented in their non-Vegan menu items.
Even though the power went out, they still took care of us the best they could
Anniversary celebration-everything was great! Look forward to trying the rooftop next visit.
Everything was soooooo slow and for the price point I thought the food would be much better. The cocktails and the coffee were the best things about the meal.
This restaurant has reservations and table selection bias. My firm booked twice and was subsequently booted out as they resold the space to a higher bidder. When I went personally, they put me on a high top rather than a perfectly good and empty table a few yards away. Food was good, service was good. Too bad about management.
The name fits the food. Every dish we had was amazing. The lamb sausage was the best I've ever had. Rustic and refined.
Staff was super friendly and helpful. All recommendations were incredible... well actually, ALL the food was incredible. The smoked tomahawk was perfection 😍. When the waitress heard it was my boyfriend’s birthday, they offered him a shot instead of a tacky scoop of ice cream with a candle in it which I thought was awesome. After dinner we wandered up to the rooftop bar section for drinks. All around, this place is amazing and we will be making this place a regular stop when we’re in town!
Helena, our server, was excellent.
She anticipated our every need.
Thank you Helena and Keith!
We had a large party, the
Everything was incredible from the ease of making the reservation through open table to getting seated, the food and service were the best!
Amazing food, but it seemed like everyone in the restaurant was yelling due to the acoustics of the room and our main waiter seemed distracted every time he came over to our table. The rest of the staff picked up the slack and made sure we were taken care of though. Overall a good experience as the food was well worth the trip.
I choice this restaurant as our " nice meal" while visiting SD on a weekend getaway. I based the selection on the location, menu, prices and reviews. I was thinking that we would like a roof top table, but decided against because of the limited menu upstairs. We made a reservation as most reviews suggested. Got there and was seated immediately. We loved the decor and the fact that the front of the restaurant was open, so there was that open air effect. We are from Texas, and this would not be possible to do. I almost asked to be seated in the side walk area for the people watching. The Downtown area was full of people in Halloween costumes...very entertaining! Our server was very nice and helped us navigate the menu. We didn't order drinks or wine, so I cant comment. The bar is very prominent in the restaurant, hindsight I should have tried their old fashioned. Our food was great! The presentation, the taste and the service. I would definitely return with no hesitation.
Overall it was a horrible experience. The best thing we had was the wedge salad. My husband sent his catch of the day back because it was really overcooked. When they finally returned with his meal it was still overcooked. The waiter asked if he wanted an entirely different meal, but by that time the rest of us had finished, so he declined. His meal was taken off the check. I had the roasted chicken, which was dry. After already sending a meal back at the table, I just chose not to eat mine. The rest of the meal we were actually ignored! We sat with our entree plates in front of us for at least 15 minutes before they were cleared. The best part of the meat was the company, certainly not the food.
My server was great brought out a treat for us for my friends engagement
Dragon was our waiter he was on point with everything extremely helpful. Food was great too
Great service. Delicious food. The server gave wonderful recommendations and we had a perfect meal!
I had the wild boar pasta. We split the meatball app. Others ordered the halibut and also the scallop orzotto. All dishes were phenomenal
Opted to do brunch in the downstairs dining room this morning.
Talk about service with a smile...everyone from the door host that seated us, to our server, food runner, busser and even the bartender who kindly turned.on the Raiders game.for us...they all did it with a smile and made us feel welcomed!!
I had the cinnamon honey coffee...wow what a treat. We split the fried rice and chili verde...clearly the best items.on the brunch menu.
We will be back SOOOOON!! We promise to try out the Bubbles and Berries...a beautiful tray with 1 or 2 bottles of bubbly, fruit, juices and purees...
We came for brunch. Staff was super attentive. Food was fabulous,
Service was terrible, super noisy very expensive for what they served. Very few options. Overall won’t recommend it or go back
The service there is amazing. The waiters and even the managers on duty are very detailed and look at everything. They kept checking on us making sure everything was good. The food was delicious. Everything is filled with rich flavors. Our waiter recommend plates to our liking.
Great! Cocktails could be stronger though.
Recommended by a friend - this was a win, across the board! Made reservations for a work dinner, started with drinks upstairs in the open air/rooftop bar, very cool, and creative drinks as well. Dinner was downstairs and from the outstanding service through the entire meal, it was a fantastic experience. Shout out to the lesser recognized side salad, which was incredible, perfectly dressed greens to my main course, the bolognese, which was amazing. Desserts were exquisite and our dinner wine was superb. Music from a really good female singer and a guy on a guitar set the perfect mood ... HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
we had a great experience during brunch, atmosphere was great and our waitress was awesome. Their music genre of island reggae was the best
GO TO THIS RESTAURANT AND ASK FOR KYLE TO BE YOUR SERVER. It was truly an exquisite experience - Kyle is spectacular. My brother and I both have food allergies and Kyle was the most diligent and caring waiter we have ever had in our lives. Also the food was delicious.
Great waitress and great food. Highly recommend the lamb t-bone!
Our server was knowledgeable and good. My side dishes were not good. My greens were so salty that I couldn’t eat them and some my potatoes were burned so badly that they were black.
We got seated in a table that was not really in someone's station which ended up hurting the service. However the manager did a good job of trying to work through the situation and the food was excellent
We came here for my friends going away dinner before his deployment. Server gave us a free dessert on the house. She also went above and beyond when my friends dietary restrictions were put into place.
Highly recommend this place.
Incredible food, absolutely amazing service. Waiter Appears at the right time, not ever overbearing. Great recommendations for food and drinks. Ask for Darius! You won’t be disappointed in anything.
Sat downstairs - Great food and loved the catch of the day and other seafood dishes. Most menu entrees are a la carte. Sides were solid but extra. Would recommend, but may try something different at the price level of $25-40 per entree.
Hi! Thanks for coming in! We appreciate the review and hope to see you back soon!
An amazing experience! Food is too notch, service was definitely 5-star. Jessie was our server and he rocked! Everything from the moment you are seated, this place has such a fun vibe. There were 6 of us and couldn’t picked just one dish to review on as everything was mouth-watering.
Hi Brandon! Thank you for coming in and taking the time to leave a review. We will pass on your kind words to Jessie! Hope to see you again soon!
It was a great place for anniversary dinner. Live music was perfect to set the mode. Restaurant furniture was really comfortable. The food, drinks were terrific and our waiter Kyle was very knowledgeable when it came to the menu.
Everything was sooooo amazing and yummy.
Excellent food and service. Upper and lower level seating. We ate here for brunch. I had chicken verde, husband ordered Californian Eggs Benedict. For brunch dessert, we had their seasonal Belgian waffle with apple strudel and ice cream. We have had a lot of waffles, but this one is the best we have ever had. Spicy Bloodymary and Froze Rose were crafted by b as bartenders who know how to make an excellent drink. Highly recommend!!
Hi! Thanks for coming in for brunch! I'm happy to hear you loved the seasonal waffle...it's one of my favorites as well! Hope to see you back for dinner! =)
Great brunch! Loved the mimosa tray!
Hi! Thanks for the review. We take our mimosas very seriously! =)
30. Yes 30 days in advance of our anniversary trip I made rooftop dinner reservation onOpentable. 24 hours before our arrival I receive a phone call to confirm my reservation but toldbecause I used Opentable my rooftop request would NOT be granted. We loved our dinner and food. But the experience that I reserved was stolen from me. I cannot begin to tell you how disappointed we were.
Food was very flavorful , server was great & the drinks were the best. P
Great brunch, particularly the light eats. Very reflective of the cuisine in San Diego.
