   Had a booking for lunch for my birthday for 2 people. received a confirmation text as well as speaking with one of the staff a few days prior to my booking, to arrive there after the 40 min drive to find that it was closed. Tried calling the ph number, left a message. I still having not received a phone call or any correspondence from them, until I received this email "How was my experience" Very disappointed that not one has bothered to call me back. Online booking system was easy to use, just not open.

   An exceptional experience. The service was amazing, and the food was great quality. I had eggplant lasagne and just felt it was a little to excessive on the tomato content, but overall tasted wonderful. Very affordable dining. Would love to visit again.

   We love this space, so much so we got married here recently. The gardens are gorgeous & the staff are fabulous, friendly, & helpful. The food has always been delicious & we keep coming back for more

   Service was non existent. W e were shown to our table and told menus would follow. Didn’t happen. Staff walked past, collected menus from nearby tables, asked staff for menus didnt happen. One staff member made 4 visits to a recently vacated table for 2. First visit looked and left empty handed. 3 more trips to clear table. Half an hour later still no menu. Staff are great at avoiding eye contact. Our table of 4. We left and went elsewhere. Such a pity. Some serious management training is well overdue

   Our recent meal was not to a standard that we could recommend the Rusty Gate as a place to have a meal. This is the third time that we have been to the Rusty Gate and other than our initial visit, our experience with our last two visits has not been pleasant. This was our first return since Valentines Day 2022 where one of the chefs walked out, leaving us to sit for nearly three hours waiting for our meals to arrive. We knew that new owners had taken over so we were happy to return and put our past experience behind us. Unfortunately this was not to be, as we again were left waiting for over an hour for our meals to arrive, which was hard to fathom as we arrived at 1:45pm when the main meal rush should have passed, plus it was a Sunday and the restaurant was not overly booked. We appreciate that staff offered us a free round of drinks for our wait, however when the meals did arrived, although nicely presented, the proportions were very small. The Caesar Salad with Anchovies ordered arrived with no dressing, a very overcooked rubbery egg on the top with half an anchovy included. The grilled chicken was cooked correctly but tasteless and the chips were soggy. The Rusty Gate salad was nice, but nothing special. We didn't bother to stay for dessert as we were not prepared to wait another hour. While the venue was beautiful, we didn't see the value in 3 meals for $100.

    I booked two days in advance and put in the notes as instructed that I was Coeliac. When we arrived, we were told there were no pancakes (which is one of the Gf options). After ordering a breakfast, at least 5 minutes later we were told there was no GF bread available, hashbrowns or banana bread. There weren’t really any other gluten free options, so I asked if I could get an omelette. I had informed the waitress with my prior order that I was pregnant and that the eggs need to be well cooked. The omelette came out very runny, so I had to return it to the kitchen. The returned omelette was half cooked through so it only safe to eat half it it. In the future I would have appreciated to have known prior to ordering the limited food available so we could have gone else where, but it was too late when we were informed as the other orders were already being cooked. Additionally, I spoke to the waitress staff about how there is a large Coeliac community in Bundaberg and if you make the effort as a business to accomodate for this, you will have a good reputation. I love the beautiful garden and the location of the restaurant, and so I would love to try this place again, but the food options and consistency for a Coeliac customers needs to be expanded. I have been before with the previous chef and had a wonderful experience.

    After trying to get seated for our booking and someone to talk to us as we had been at the counter and 3 staff walked past without acknowledgement. Seated we Ordered a sparkling water, they forgot to bring out. When we ordered our food, we had not been advised there was no eggplant lasagne until we tried to order it (that should have been stated when the menus had been given) to save disappointment. All food was cold, ordered a medium steak came out blue to rare with a splash of mash and fried capsicum (not sure how that’s seasonal vegetables) by the time we got someone’s attention, they offered to re cook I said no as our table had finished their food. Fish and chips was the only thing that was ok clearly deep frying is a winner and not actual cooking. $190 bill not worth what we got for 4 people. Regrettably we won’t be back nor advising our friends to attend.

    Ordered eggplant lasagne - didn’t have it. Ordered special salad - didn’t have it. Explained that they were the only vegetarian options, and was offered a Caesar salad with no bacon, chicken or anchovy products as a solution. Agreed as there were no other options. Then told that there was no lettuce - ended up with an egg on a bed of spinach and rocket for dinner. Also no chicken nuggets on kids menu, kids told they would have to have chicken breast. Wait staff were wonderful, but as we could overhear all conversation from the kitchen, it was clear they were not well informed of food shortages prior to service beginning.

    We throughly enjoyed our lunch at the Rusty Gate Grove Bar & Winery. What a beautiful setting the ambiance here is so peaceful. We started our meal with Aperol Spritz & finished with a Provenance Rose’ which was outstanding, the Barman was very knowledgeable of all the Wines on the Drinks list. I would highly recommend this delightful place.

    The ambience and the gardens are beautiful, staff very friendly. We were here for dinner and went to order certain items off the menu which weren’t available which was disappointing. Ordered bruschettas for entree which weren’t no olive oil, no balsamic and no basil. Ordered mains Salmon was dry Eggplant lasagna was beautiful Steak was good Lamb was good Was disappointed there was no local fish and chips on the menu. No kids menu so my 5 year old had to have the grilled chicken which wasn’t that much of a hit- very dry. Will try for breaky but unfortunately it was really worth the drive from Woodgate. Thank you

    I was very disappointed in the presentation of the food, entree was just placed on a plate with plastic containers with dipping sauce no garnish or anything, the amount of food was disappointing too and wasn’t anything special unfortunately, after hearing wonderful reviews. The tables were not set up for Christmas at all and place really didn’t have a Christmas atmosphere I was hoping for . We were charged a surcharge as well for the public holiday ☹️ This was meant to be our special Christmas lunch for the cost and lack of Christmas spirit, it was disappointing overall, sorry. Presentation of food and as it was Christmas, Christmas ambiance and table set up should be above and beyond. The grounds were beautiful, maybe a few yard games for the kids to play with might have been good too.

    Very Disappointed. Was expecting a great Xmas lunch. Entree was good. Main of baked ham, roast turkey and vegetables was very ordinary. Meat was cold as if just out of refrigerator , vegetables also cold and tasted like a bay Marie meal, and not what I expected for the cost. Xmas lunch with no Christmas atmosphere. No trimmings like bonbons for us at least. And to advertise a special set Xmas lunch and then throw on a 15% surcharge on top of the advertised price when you get there!! Unimpressed.

    Kids nuggets came out frozen. 3/4 of our meals we had to ask for our sides. The chicken breast was dry. Lamb was rubbery and wasn’t served with veggies. Very disappointed as location is simply beautiful. We were told that the chef had gone home sick but seriously isn’t there some quality check in place before meals go out. Over priced for terrible food.

    We loved our breakfast at Rusty Gate, staff were new so I'm sure that will flow better as they become more confident, meal was excellent except for the unbuttered sourdough bread, the butter sachets were unattractive and toast was like a brick, but will definitely revisit, the grounds and rustic old farm machinery and bits n pieces are fabulous!     We made a reservation thru open table, we got there 25mins early at 7.05pm. Our table was taken, so we got drinks & they sat us at another table. We sat there until 7.30pm our reservation time only to be told the kitchen is closed but we will take your order but can’t promise you’ll get the food & maybe will be up to an hour and a half wait, if it does come out. They had a market on that night & that’s what we come too before our dinner booking, hence why we made a booking to make sure we had a table to get dinner, what a waste of our time. Very disappointing to say the least especially because we had that booking & my ohone number was on the booking, they could have rang to let us know so we could have gone elsewhere

    We visited an evening when markets was taking place something we wouldn’t do again in a hurry I’m thinking this impacted on your staffs customer service and ability to serve correctly. We received our starters at same time as our main meal this was after we was asked if we wanted them seperate ? consequently eating cold lamb was not a pleasant experience when we questioned the waitress why we was told ‘ o he cooked them together!’ Also our coffee order was wrong a lack of experience and leadership was very obvious. Next time we visit we will try breakfast hoping we can raise your experience star score from us.

    I realise it was a busy evening and some of the staff are untrained, it took so long to order and get some water. The meals were disappointing. My roast vegetable dish was swimming in Sweet Chilli sauce.

    I never like to recommend a place to dine to friends, however, The Rusty Gate Grove Bar & Winery was recommended by a friend to a friend, who then recommended it to me and I too have since recommended it to another friend (on the journey home in fact!). To date all of us have been pleasantly surprised... by the atmosphere, location, food and service. We all individually intend coming back. Sunday tapas with live music is next on our list! After our very enjoyable meals and lovely flat white, we strolled around the gardens and took many photos. Wow is all I can say... We are so glad this gem is less than 1 hour from home. It makes it a great destination breakfast/lunch/dinner treat. So, take this as a recommendation from someone who doesn't give them often - go there and enjoy it yourself!

    We had a large group on a very hot day, the Rust Gate was perfect with the beautiful breeze under shade. We ordered coffee/cake and the place was just so beautiful, we could chat and not encroach on others. Highly recommend visiting, and will be back to try the meals! Thank you
