Great food! Creative takes on sushi rolls. Salmon tataki roll is not to be missed!
Awesome happy hour and sake! Very nice bar tender and servers. Food was delicious, sit on the rooftop!
One of the best Chirashi's in town. On the pricey side if you go with the sushi, sashimi, or wagyu options, but that's expected. However, there are plenty of other options. I would definitely go back for the tasting menu.
Great food and even better service. Would return just for our server, Eva. She was fantastic.
Moved to DC almost 1 year ago. This is the best sushi I have found in the city. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. Can’t wait to go back!
Ambience wasn’t the great. Service was fine. Mostly the food was overpriced. Would recommend going there for their happy hour drinks and food which is a lot cheaper.
a very beautiful restaurant with a solid menu and friendly staff
I met my childhood friend that was visiting DC for dinner at Sakerum. We both love Sushi and needed to catch up. Gabriel greeted me at the door and he was very personable. We decided to sit in the bar area on the second floor. Gabriel ended up being our server. He provided great suggestions and gave us complimentary shots at the end of our meal. Sakerum is one of my favorite places because the sushi is delectable and the staff provide impeccable service EVERY time.
Excellent, but the chef's frown on special requests. FYI.
What did we do to deserve being seated upstairs next to someone’s massive 30th birthday party? They were screaming and spread all over the dining room. I’ll likely never come back. It so wasn’t worth it.
We had a Gilt City voucher, so that helped on the costs, but the meal still ended up being very, very expensive.
Probably the best sashimi in town. Sushi here is great, perfect for a date!
Delicious sushi. My daughter lived in Japan and we were celebrating a new job. She loved it. Can’t wait to go back.
Upstairs was very noisy, but food was good
Good to have a nightlife date
One of my favorite date night restaurants for sushi. Atmosphere is always enjoyable.
We went to Sakerum primarily for sushi, and found fresh traditional as well as innovative rolls. The nigiri was excellent as well. We also had the Bao Buns (pork belly) as an appetizer and found it flavorful.
They also has a large selection of sake (first time I had a sparkling rose sake!) and excellent cocktails.
The atmosphere in the dining rooms is casual and relaxed, while the upstairs rooftop is hopping and vibrant.
We'll definitely return.
Very nice space with delicious sushi, a little pricey but good for a special occasion
My friends and I went here Saturday night for my birthday (something I noted in my open table res). We arrived on time and were seated. The food was great, but when we finished the main course, the waitress without asking just slapped down the check. Then the hostess came over and told us they needed the table (after we had tipped well, which I would not necessarily have done if I'd known they were literally rushing us out the door). When I made the reservation and used open table to book it and added to my calendar, the booking was for two hours. We were asked to give up our table less than 90 mins after being seated! Furthermore, when i politely told the hostess this was a poor way to do business, she barely apologized, let alone tried to make it right. I'm not interested in spending my time or money there--especially not for a special occasion! Just awful service.
We ultimately had a great time here celebrating my birthday - the food was delicious and the atmosphere was perfect.
I did find fault with the service on two accounts:
We went to Sakerum on whim with no reservation as there were plenty available on line. When we asked for a table for two, the hostess said they were booked for the night. I said there were several open reservations at that time via Opentable and asked if she would seat us, and she said only if you make a reservation. We made the reservation using our phone, and then she sat us...not what I would expect from the very first person we interacted with at the restaurant.
Once we were seated (in the then empty restaurant), the very next party of two were sat directly next to us, with plenty of available seating options. I felt this was a little rude, and the other party must have, too, because they asked to be moved to a different room within 5 minutes.
Again, the menu was delicious and innovative, and the atmosphere was wonderful once things picked up, but I would recommend brushing up on some basic customer service and hospitality pointers for the future.
Sat at the rounded booths in the bar. Bartender/waitress was great and very attentive. Excellent food - everything from the hot appetizers to the specialty rolls. Helpful drink suggestions by our waitress. Great for a date, special occasion, etc. - we were there for a birthday. Would definitely go back! Kind of pricey but the food was all excellent.
The food is exquisite. Sushi is prepared with artistry and the plating is beautiful. Very cool
ambiance with a good specialty drink menu. Rooftop is cool and has a nice music selection.
Took my lady out for her birthday :) it was incredible. Best sushi I’ve ever had
Sushi was very fresh, if overpriced. They were out of a lot of dishes when we were there, but hadn't informed our waitress, which made for a frustrating experience.
Waiter was a jerk. Food was good. Ambiance was epic. Nuff said
The food was good. Calamari was great and the sushi dishes were as well. Thoroughly enjoyed the dishes.
Great restaurant. Loved everything we tried and can’t wait to explore the menu more.
The service was great. The waiter accidentally took my 2/3 drank glass of wine away and without me asking, came back with a full glass. The Miso soup is some of the best I've ever had.
I always enjoy the sushi here. The hosts are always very nice.
Great food and service! Appreciated the fusion idea but really enjoyed getting some decent sushi in DC.
The upstairs dining space is a bit of a tight fit for a larger group but the food and cocktails are great. The live DJ was a nice unexpected touch too. He played some great music throughout the time we were there. I recommend the 'Ladies Love Me' cocktail - it's light and refreshing. The fatty tuna was amazing as was the grilled calamari. The Spicy Shrimp roll was also great. We will definitely be back.
Not my first or last time here. Will be back again soon for the mariscos roll!
Sakerum was delicious! Went here for the first time and really enjoyed the happy hour. The items were not only reasonably priced, but delicious. We had the Yakatori (sp?) skewers, spicy tuna roll, crispy and grilled wings, sake, house wine, some other fancy drink—and it was ALL delicious. Can’t wait to come back and try the full menu. We sat at the bar and the service was excellent!! Shoutout to Kitty!!
The cashew lime Edamame was the best I’ve ever had. The speciality rolls were different and delicious and even the plain rolls like spicy tuna had a nice flavor. These rolls had a little more rice than I typically like but overall it was a wonderful meal and I would return.
Good, we were there celebrating a friend’s birthday. A little limited on items
Great food and good ambiance except the music was a bit loud which caused us to yell at each other while dining. Good food. Great service. Will definitely go back with maybe some a loud speaker to talk to my friends at the table
This was my first visit to Sakerum. I really enjoyed the food and the ambiance. Sakerum is also a great place for a date or girls night meet up for dinner and drinks, or a small birthday gathering with friends. The restaurant reminds me of a sushi spot in LA that I visited before. The sushi was delicious and craftily made with great sushi options as well. The miso soup was the best I've had in the DMV area EVER! The waitress was very friendly and attentive. I'm so happy I finally tried Sakerum because they didn't disappoint me at all. I can't wait to go back again once the weather breaks.
My husband and I really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere here at Sakerum. We would definitely recommend this place.
