Salt on Mass
Any seafood offered is the star of their show. Yum!
The worst dining experience I’ve ever had. Empty restaurant but still took almost 2 hours to be served salad. Left before receiving entrees because it had been too long and we were late for an event. Slow, bad service and kitchen which was perplexing due to the place being EMPTY. Was there with out of town colleagues - thank god we didn’t have customers with us.
A shame because the food is supposedly phenomenal. I can’t say, since I didn’t get to eat the food.
Food was okay, nothing amazing. They didn’t even give a complimentary dessert to the two gentlemen celebrating their 40th birthdays in our party.
Highly recommend the sashimi salt block and the poke. So so good! My friend had the halibut and it was great and the risotto so flavorful. Brussel sprouts just okay to me. Cheese grits very rich.
Let me first say I do not like seafood of any kind. I went here because my boyfriend loves fish. Our waiter was Jay who was also outstanding! I have multiple food allergies and he was so accommodating to get me answers to my questions. So then I ordered the Asiago encrusted halibut on the Parmesan risotto. OMG!! it was so delicious! I cannot wait to go back! I’m now at least a halibut lover!
First time there - had heard good things about it! Food was excellent- cauliflower too spicy for me but my husband loved it. Everything else was yummy! Friendly servers and patrons - our kind of place! We’ll go back!!!
The decor was very cool. We went for an anniversary dinner at 7:00, when we got there was one other table (of 2 people). Took almost 25 minutes to get drinks. A 2 Top and a 4 Top arrived after us, and yet received their appetizers and meals before us. The waiters comment when I asked why the service was so slow, was “I didn’t know you were in a hurry”. Our water glasses were empty twice, including when we left. I also mentioned that I was getting drops of water from the ceiling on me, and his answer was that the air conditioning was working hard. When we left, I saw a drink special advertised outside by the door but the server never mentioned it (I probably would have ordered it)
I had a filet with crab meat, was fantastic. Wife had halibut, she loved it ! But a side of broccolini was $10..so overall felt was overpriced, though very, very good.
When we left at 8:45 PM (almost 2 hours), there was nobody there except a 2 top, and a tab for $132.00 with no desert, and one special cocktail.
Excellent seafood and professional, prompt service. Will definitely dine there again.
The food and service was absolutely perfect. Our waitress Victoria went above and beyond. This is one of the best kept secrets in Indianapolis. This is our new favorite restaurant!
We had amazing service and food was phenomenal! Absolutely love the ambiance and vibe
Surprised my wife for her birthday. Funny enough when we drove up to the restaurant she said she would love to try Salt. No clue that was where we were going. Sat outside and enjoyed what mass ave had to offer. Food was amazing and our server was very helpful with our order. Will go back!
We had an excellent anniversary meal! I had the halibut and my husband had the salmon. Both were fantastic. Also highly recommend the BWI Cauliflower, it was unique and delicious!
Service was extremely slow and inattentive. It took my party of 2 two hours to eat dinner. Food was incredible but way overpriced.
Had a great visit at Salt! Went for my boyfriend’s birthday and everyone that greeted us, told him happy birthday. They also brought a complimentary dessert! The drinks were fantastic, the food was very good, but I will try something else next time. I’ll definitely be back!
My wife and I ordered the fresh grouper on the Parmesan Risotto. I love fresh grouper anytime I go to Florida. It is not often that we find grouper on the menu here in the midwest. The grouper was as good as any I have ever had. It was perfectly prepared and seemed to melt in my mouth. Salt on Mass is on our short list of restaurants to visit any time we are visiting Indianapolis.
Our food was delicious
Excellent ambiance.. Love the decor.. Food delicious.. Love to support local restaurants!!
Great high end restaurant in Indianapolis. A little pricey but worth every penny if you want a great meal.
Great staff & food was delicious! Fresh tasty halibut!
Great seafood, lovely setting with great visibility to Mass Ave
Ahi tuna, scallops, and salmon were all excellent. Was out of the advertised catch-of-the-day at 7:30, which was disappointing. A little pricey for the level of service, but overall a very good dining experience.
The food was amazing. Unfortunately it took us a while to get our food but once we got it, we were extremely pleased. The price point was a little higher than I would like but overall it was a great meal!
I love Salt on Mass; I have been going there since it opened a few years ago. The food and drinks were outstanding and it was nice to be able to make a last minute reservation. The manager checked on us during dinner, as well. Salt is a great restaurant.
The service is outstanding and amazing food.
We would highly recommended this place!
An outstanding dinner!! Wonderful open, quiet ambiance, impeccable service, and incredible food. The Hawaiian Poke was a great appetizer - good-sized pieces of tuna, cucumbers, jalapenos, and a tasty sauce. The special of the night was red snapper, and it was cooked to perfection. Everything the four of us had was exceptional except the lobster macaroni and cheese, which lacked some flavor (and probably needed salt, which is not on the table even though that's the name of the restaurant). Good-sized servings, even for hungry teenagers. Desserts were equally delicious. Our server, Calissa, appeared magically at just the right times, and had perfect suggestions about what was looking especially good that night. Taking advantage of their valet parking is a must here - trying to find a spot in the Mass Ave neighborhood within several blocks on a Friday evening is virtually impossible. This is the best new restaurant we've tried in the past 2-3 years -- I can't say enough good about it. We will certainly be back, and will strongly recommend it to friends.
It wasn’t very busy early on a Thursday night, but our server, Tony, was excellent and the food and cocktails were delicious.
We have had two celebrations here before. With excellent food ,service and ambience.
However we went tonight with 3 celebratory birthdays and were deeply disappointed.
They were out of food on the menu 3 of them and one special. I understand the special not the rest!!!
We had great service however she was coming back to our table telling us every time they were out of what we had to order.
The manager comped is a nice bottle of wine in the beginning then disappeared.
After the 4th food item was not available we surrendered. We then saw the chef and Manager fighting in the kitchen
The manager then came to the table after we decided to just leave he shakes our hands and scurry away and say’s we didn’t owe anything.
This was a 3 Birthday celebration for family and was awful for all involved.
I was embarrassed and disappointed that all they could say I’m sorry and run away.
This restaurant is either going out of business or doesn’t know how to treat their customers.
I will be following up on this
Service was terrible. After 1 1/2 hours, no food. Then learned they were out of what we had ordered as the order had not been completed. Not sure whose fault it was. Manager said he was sorry and would help with the charges but failed to do so. Will not go back.
Everything was amazing - top notch service, delicious food. The Hummingbird cake was truly one of the best desserts I’ve ever eaten.
Lacking. Out of two items that we very much were looking forward to enjoying. Waitress did not offer solutions to issues, but presented problems. Main course had a substitution for a main item that was not acceptable and I acknowledged by staff. Won’t be back, disappointed.
Food was delicious. Had the salmon special that was cooked perfectly. Great wine list and attentive service. Much better than our last visit here.
We had a fantastic experience at Salt for our anniversary dinner. We don't typically eat seafood but the menu was very diverse so we gave it a try. The menu I found online was not exactly what was at the restaurant but there was still many cuisines to choose from. Everyone we encountered at the restaurant was warm, friendly, and seemed to really love what they were doing. Our server was fantastic and was great at explaining all of the dishes we had questions about. We decided on the catch of the day (salmon) and a filet for our entree, the broccoli, BWI cauliflower, a side of scallops, and shared a salad (Tschop chop) and a dessert (hummingbird cake). Even though we don't eat much seafood the salmon was fantastic! Actually everything was full of flavor with the exception of the broccoli (which wasn't bad, just didn't have the character everything else had). The staff also helped by setting up flowers on the table that I had ordered as well as supplied an anniversary champagne toast. We can't recommend Salt enough and will definitely be back!
We went to Salt on Mass to celebrate my birthday. The food was excellent. We started with the calamari which was about the best I have ever had. I had the special, Black cod with lemon butter sauce as an entree', again delicious. We finished with the 6 layer chocolate cake, which was about as good and very similar to my mom's homemade chocolate cake. The ambiance was a coastal/beach feel.
Only negative was my wife's salad. On the menu it was a Heirloom tomato salad with watermelon and cheese. In reality it was a watermelon salad with Heirloom tomatoes and no cheese. Lots of watermelon but very little tomato and absolutely no cheese. Otherwise the dinner was great.
We had an amazing meal and the service was just incredible. We were celebrating a big anniversary and it was such a treat. We would go back in a second!
Ambiance was perfect for a date night, and the scallops were delicious. Cost was a not out exorbitant for the quality of the food, atmosphere, or service.
Absolutely terrible. The food was bathed in butter. The menu online is NOT the same as what they actually have. Descriptions of food inaccurate from menu to what is presented. Service was okay but considering we were one of the very few tables service could have been better. Will never go here again! If you want your food drowned in better and mediocre at best this is the place for you!
An absolutely terrible experience. We had plenty of time to check out the menu on the way there, but it turns out every entree we wanted to order was no longer on the actual menu. Also there was no longer any bread appetizer or standard bread service. So we asked for the only bread they seem to have to be sent out ASAP. It arrived well after we had finished a round of drinks and was nothing special at all. The worst part by far was our waiter. Every utterance was needlessly long winded and too cute by half. He would just interrupt our conversation with annoying jabber. It was brutal. Will never go back.
The new summer menu is fantastic! Everything was amazing.
Great fresh seafood and perfect service in a very appealing atmosphere. We will return!
