Nice location, nicely decorated inside and out, and good ambience. Service was very good with an attentive waiter. Food was ok, but not good enough for a 4 or 5 star. Mixed drinks were good, but especially pricey at $17 for a basic Mexican Mule...that was a bit extreme.
I think most Marina residents would agree that this is the only 'nice' restaurant in Marina. There are lots of places with very good food but for a special occasion or date night, this place is where you need to go! We were married on Saturday with friends and family in 'attendance' via zoom and wanted somewhere to go afterwards with our two witnesses. We've been to Saltwood several times and I knew that they would have a great outdoor setup. Everything was so wonderful. They did an amazing job acknowledging that it was our special day. The service and the food were fantastic, cannot recommend this place enough. Check it out!
Been here for dinner about 5-6 times over the year or more (both before and since covid). We used to love this place but each time we go, it seems the service gets progressively worse. Once eager, fun, and friendly staff is now a fake friendly staff that is inattentive and don’t appear to care to fulfill special requests much less even bring you a steak knife. I don’t want to get into ever last detail or complaint, but in summary: on our last visit, we interacted with about 6-7 people on the staff and only had a positive experience with 1 of them. Food is average to above average but no longer seems worth it to pay the higher price for just average food especially in a devolving atmosphere and environment. I’ll give it some time and see if they can make cultural changes/improvement on the staff to give them a chance to do better as I’d like to continue to see higher-end dining in Marina.
I had pretty bad digestive problems that night. The food tasted good, but something was clearly upsetting my stomach.
Everything was perfect, as always!! Thank you for the great food and service.
Outstanding and safety-considerate staff matched with outstanding and delicious food made this a memorable evening. From oysters and cocktails to entrees and dessert, we were very impressed. Ambience was lovely, warm and cozy. Wished we lived closer. Will definitely come again.
Had a lovely socially distanced dinner in the covered patio area. There were plenty of gas heaters and a lovely view of the dunes. Very good friendly service. Dishes of note were the grilled oysters and Banana Cream Trifle with Butterscotch. Will visit again and recommend to others
The octopus appetizer was excellent. Creamy polenta with mushrooms had a little too much vinegar in the sautéed mushroom. Caesar salad was over dressed with dressing but fresh with white anchovies. Great wine and fabulous French 75 cocktail.
What a shame it was so cold and windy for our visit.
There wasn't enough done to block the cold air with shields or something.
I had to gobble down my dinner before it got cold.
Clearly too cold for outdoor dining. We should have ordered carryout.
The food and service were fine.
Must go to place when I go to Monterey. The trout and artichoke dip is a must get, it's delicious! It was a cold night but Saltwood was nice enough to give us a blanket and heaters! Everything was so great we forgot how cold it was.
Our server Melissa Crisafulli, recommended the most delicious drinks and tasty entrees. We came to Salt Wood to celebrate our 10 year anniversary and it was as enjoyable as it was delicious. Thank you for the amazing experience.
It was cold and the dining is outside. They did the best they could with it but definitely need something to block the wind. Everything we had was excellent. Service was very good.
We really enjoyed our outdoor evening meal. We felt safe with the large amount of space between tables and warm with the heater next to us. The food we had (salmon and steak) was delicious and the portions were good.
Our first visit to Salt Wood after they reopened following the Covid-19 lockdown. They have a large patio area that is already a part of the restaurant. The food was fabulous as always. They have plenty of heaters around and even provide blankets if you are chilly.
It was a lovely evening and food and drinks were great
Very enjoyable evening on the patio for dinner; standing heaters as well as wool blankets for guests made it comfortable to stay out later!
Salt Wood is one of our go to places in Marina. Every meal and every item has always been amazing...
Oysters were too small. Very puny for $4 each.
Excellent service outdoors on heated patio and excellent food!
Life food was great service excellent
We had oysters and the smoked salmon spinach dip! The salmon was to die for! Outdoor seating is spaced out for COVID and they are getting ready for winter outdoor seating. Service was phenomenal!
Lovely sunset, warm with the heaters, comfortably spaced out for COVID, and service and food were great!
Such a great place to celebrate 50
Such great service and well decorated
Given an Awful table by a door
Loved it!!! Our server was amazing!
Nice atmosphere. Service was good, however our food took a long time and overall was underwhelming.
Amazing food, amazing ambiance. The mussels were to die for. Everything we ordered was out of this world!!!
The entire experience, from the food to the servicw, was fantastic.
A lovely Anniversary dinner on the patio of course. A little chilly but heater and blankets provided
Food was delicious and we had great service. The menu was smaller than previous visits, but still had great offerings.
It was good, bread was burned though and table was too small for the 4 of us. Food is overall ok but meat is overpriced. It was a birthday occasion.
The food was good but not outstanding like the prices you charge! I am quite sure the business would have more guests if the prices were just slightly lower. I can buy a bottle of wine for the same brand as your lower glass charge. Your bottle charges are truly more than Carmel's fancy restaurants. My brother owns a restaurant and I do know my wines and prices. We had two salads and a couple of oysters, one beer and one cider and it was over $70. Too much money and it takes away the joy of enjoying.
We were there for a bday for my husband and he was disappointed.
We were there to celebrate our 37th Wedding Anniversary. Outdoor seating due to Covid but we felt very safe and comfortable.
Our server Mariah was very friendly, and did an excellent job.
Food was delicious. And we enjoyed a beautiful sunset while eating.
Wonderful wish they had blankets a bit chilly.
But always good...
Great place food is good price a bit pricey but for the times it’s understandable
Great service, want to say that up front.
We've been here in the Before Times and the food was really good. I'm sure they're dealing with a lot of adjustments when it comes to cooking during covid, so it was fine, just not matching our previous meal. But, still a great place for a date night.
The food was ok a few mess ups by the Chef the salad was way to spicy as there was pepper added ... the Shrimp Scampi was a surprise as it was not the traditional garlic style as it was a Cajun Spice so was a disappointment as well the limited menu was another low mark the price was extreme compared to the quality I do understand the environment of today with the fluishness hindering the Establishment with limitations
