Although we enjoyed our dining experience and the food, we were disappointed when we got there to find out it was a fixed menu for Valentines. We went on February 15th not 14th. We felt we should have known this when booking.
Made reservations for the 15th of Feb. had no advance clue that we would not be offered the regular menu, it was a Valentine’s “special” $75 per person for tiny appetizers and small entree.
Was there one hour, spent $220 fiat average meal and service.
Could’ve been worth the money if it wasn’t a fixed menu! Lobster Alfredo was so dry and some noodles were hard!! Husband had Filet mignon and garlic mash his was more tasty! Waitress was very helpful that was the best thing all night!
Excellent service and atmosphere. The food is a smidge better than average. My appetizer was just (3) 1”x1”x1” cubes of pork belly with spoonful of sauce, presented beautifully, it was good but not amazing. My entree was a 10oz filet Mignon cooked perfectly, but just okay in taste. I would go back if the prices came down a little and you got just a little more. I don’t think I can justify the price of the food. But the experience is top notch.
Service was outstanding, the staff was great, really enjoyed it.
Valentines Day fixed menu with price of $75/person was WAY over priced. An appropriate price for overall experience and quantity of food would have been about $55 per person. Won't go back again for those prices. Food was good, though, so I'm not knocking the quality of food or the service, just way overpriced.
The food was not as good as expected. Halls is better...
I've been here when there wasn't a holiday menu and it was great. The Valentine's menu was incredibly overpriced for what we received. Two bites of pork belly, two bowls of lobster bisque without lobster, running out of mashed potatoes, etc. It was $75 a person. These problems are pathetic for a restaurant that is supposedly held in high regard. Highly disappointing, unfortunately.
Best restaurant I’ve been to in a very long time. Service was awesome, food was awesome. I even had a bottle of champagne at our table that I had requested during my reservation. Our waitress was awesome, she even kept our champagne glasses full. It was a Valentines Date to remember. We definitely will be returning.
Very nice dinner. Arrived at 5:00 p.m. to a quiet room.
Food excellent and staff very helpful.
Would definitely visit again
Prices are a little high but service excellent
Wonderful food and service.
We were greeted promptly and seated immediately. Our server was great! Very engaging and had a good wit about her. Once they pulled our salad plates, it took a bit for our entrees. All three of the steaks ordered were lukewarm and undercooked. The scallop dish and pasta were delicious though! We ordered the creme brûlée and split it. It was very good.
Great food great service. White wine was chilled beautifully
Saluda’s was a wonderful intimate location which was perfect for our Anniversary. The food was delicious and The service was out standing! We really enjoyed it!
Wonderful food, great wine selection, a perfect dinner before our show at the Koger center.
My wife had the halibut. I had the ribeye steak special. Both were excellent-entree and sides.
Everything at Saluda's was simply perfect. We were a large group with 11 people and perhaps we made the most noise in the restaurant, so I cannot evaluate the level of noise.
Staff was great, everything was top notch. We didn't wait too long for any dish, when we need a staff, they were there.
Everyone got different food and everyone simple loved it from the Filet Mignon to the Shrimp coupled with great selection of beer/wine. I got the Lamb Osso Bucco, it was delicious! Appetizers were also great, I liked the Pork Belly among mussels and friend oysters.
The meal was truly divine from start to finish to include the wine. We could taste the freshness in every single bite and those fresh flavors coalesced into symphony delectable bliss. Can’t wait for our next date night.
The food was wonderful but our waitress seemed as if we were bothering her by taking our time ordering drinks. It was obvious that my friends were a couple and I was separate and she never asked us if we wanted the check just came and set it down. I had to venmo my part to my friend and her fiancee. Wine selection was excellent and food was well crafted and not commonly seen in Columbia. We did have a reservation.
Always a great experience!!!!
Great alternative of modern cuisine with southern flavor.
Had a great time
Our food and the ambiance were very good. Our server was inattentive and seemed as if he did not want to wait on us. Perhaps because we were two women dining alone? Otherwise the evening was very good; would have rated excellent, but how could it be with his attitude?
Everything was outstanding with one exception of the tuna appetizer, which is usually our favorite. We love the bartender Chris! Great place to eat in Columbia!!
First time dining here ... wonderful experience!
We like Saluda’s a lot.
Server was rude. Ruined the ambiance and quality of the food, unfortunately an occurnace in the industry. Hopefully she will realize since remarks aren’t cute although we still tipped well.
I understand it was a Saturday night during restaurant week which was bound to be pretty busy and it was. We made a reservation and upon entrance we sat at the bar where we were immediately served, the drinks were perfect.. We were seated pretty shortly after.
I knew after reading the entire menu that I wanted the Apple crumble but our waiter explained that it was only offered as a part of the Restaurant Week Special.
We ordered the buffalo oysters which were so great we reordered them. I ordered a house salad and the fried pork chop entree and the Bourbon Apple Crumble.
The salad was delicious. It took a bit at times to get water but I know they were busy. The fried pork chop was cooked well internally but I wasnt fond of the outer fried crust. The sweet potato & broccolini setup was fine. The grain mustard left something to be desired. The scallops and beets ordered by my bf was excellent as well.
And then the coup de gras they were out of Apple Crumble!!
So I releuctantly ordered the brownie which seemed over cooked.
Upon arriving home we realized that the two meals that we ordered and asked him to box he boxed together. The pork chop & sweet potatoes w mustard with the other plate of beets and scallops, why I do not know.
Saluda’s has been on my list for a while and I was a little let down.
Service was horrid. We took friends and it was embarrassing. Finally got beverages after an hour with THIRD request. Room was too loud to converse. I won’t be returning.
Awesome service!!’ Great vegetarian options :-)
Great New Years dinner and atmosphere.
The food was amazing . The service impeccable . My only issue was with the wait time . Our reservation was for 8:15 and we were not seated until 9:00 . They were apologetic and said that tables were lingering . On such an occasion Many restaurants of their caliber have 3 set seatings and the customers know this in advance. The expectation is set and the diner knows they will have a set time to enjoy their dining experience. Otherwise you could have early tables sitting for hours and wreaking havoc on your reservations . I had not eaten since breakfast and I was ready to Knaw off the bartenders arm . They have appetizers but nothing really quick and conducive to eating at the bar especially when you may be seated at any time .. it’s a surprise ! Maybe offering additional appetizer selections like a dip with crackers or bread etc . I will try this restaurant again , just not on New Years Eve unless I feast before :)
New Year's Eve experience was outstanding! We were seated quickly, service was exceptional! Food is always on point at Saludas. This is a staple restaurant in Columbia where you can count on consistency and excellence every time.
I wouldn't not recommend it, but it wouldn't be a place I would rave about to them. It was good, not great.
New Year’s Eve dinner with extended family. Everyone raved about their meals (especially the pork chops!). Food was really slow getting to the table but server was friendly and helpful with menu choices.
Excellent service and the food was divine! I will definitely be back.
We ordered a cheese plate that only came with hard cheese. We did complain, so the server comped it for us. I ordered the salmon, but didn’t want the sauce that came with it. I asked for “any cream sauce” they had on hand and I was charged $7.00 for the sauce. I was disappointed with the value of the meal.
Had a great time at Saluda's! The food was some of the most spectacular I've ever had, the service was professional and speedy, and it was overall a very pleasant, delicious experience.
The Saluda’s experience is not particularly spectacular. The location isn’t very handicap accessible, which caused my wife and I worry due to meeting there with her grandparents. The ambiance was terrible and we were practically sitting in the dark. It was difficult to see. Ordered cheese tray, found that to be a difficult experience as well. Bread is oversized for cheese, honey, and jam portions given. Cheese isn’t sliced, which isn’t easy to do when you’re using a bread knife in a very narrow access area between wine glasses and water glasses. Jam and honey we’re just splattered on wooden tray, requiring scraping off the tray. Would be a better experience if bread was small portion, cheese was already sliced, and jam and honey were in containers.
Dinner service was decent but not great. My wife and grandparents all ordered the scallops, which were excellent. I ordered the filet mignon, which was of low quality beef and supposed to be cooked to medium rare but was served blue. After sending it back once, it was again served blue. Very disappointing. The bacon macaroni and cheese is not particularly worth your time.
Their Grand marnier creme brûlée is decent, but not stellar.
Finally I took note of the fact that several tables are made from cheap plastic and aluminum, the kind you get at Costco or Sam’s club. This confirmed that this restaurant has a veneer of fine cuisine that might be convincing in Columbia, but would never pass muster in any city with a reputation of good food. I’d recommend you avoid it, at least to avoid overpriced food.
The waitress, Ariel, was polite and sweet. She was one shining light in an otherwise gloomy dining experience.
