Scarlet Kitchen and Lounge
Food and service was fantastic. We can’t wait to go back.
Been twice. The food was great. Really like supporting a local family business.
The food was really good, but a little too overpriced. For the price I paid for my dinner, I would expect the ambience to be a little better and more upscale. The tables and chairs are too casual for the price tag.
Given the strip mall location, bare minimum decor and very high prices we expected exceptional food. Sadly, we were disappointed. The food was typical for a good but not great OC restaurant, the interior clearly done on a budget, and the staff nice but not well trained. Hopefully things will improve with time.
My less than stellar rating is NOT due to anything this restaurant did. It was just not our cup of tea. More of a small sports bar. I guess that’s why it’s the The Scarlet KITCHEN and not the Scarlet RESTAURANT. Food was different but just ok. We will not return but if it’s your thing, I wouldn’t let that stop you from checking it out.
We read all the reviews, waited 3 weeks for a weekend reservation, and once again, it’s just an extremely overpriced overhyped new place that was a huge disappointment. A $19 hamburger that’s comparable to Carl’s junior? Poor service. We watched other customers having to flag down a waitress, or having to go up to the hostess station to get someone to take care of them.
Oh, and an $18 martini???? You aren’t the montage or the ritz.
Love this new gem in RMV. The Mediterranean Shrimp Risotto was outstanding, as was the bolognese. Looking forward to warm weather patio dining.
Good food, but not what I expected from previous reviews. Nice Server, very pleasant. Ordered the special Liquid Gold, it was okay had better at Cucina Entoeca. The Ahi Tuna Appetizer was okay, $18 was overpriced. The drinks were decent, but served in a home style glass, as opposed to a true bar glass. Music too loud, but good selection. Probably won’t repeat, one and done. Too many better choices out there.
We understand it is hard for new restaurants but we (hubby and I) believe they are doing a great job getting through the growing pains. We will be back, especially for the happy hour price shucked oysters and reasonably priced drinks.
One my favorite restaurants
We had the opportunity to meet the owners, which was really nice.
After ordering a regular and a strawberry margaritas, my wife's was delivered incorrectly and the server amended the availability of the strawberry and said it was not available? We accepted the regular margarita's as we expecting them to be at minimal, good. They were perhaps one of the most forgettable one's I have had in recent memory-Besides, taking longer to receive than normal.
The entree's were non exceptional and the the lamb chops, I ordered, were to have been medium rare-they were rare, thinner and fattier than I would expect as I order this often at other restaurants.
I am sorry but premium prices, mediocre service and average entree's are not a good combination. We live in a fifty-five and older area of Ecencia and I'm afraid if I am asked about the restaurant, I will have to be less than enthusiastic and more disapproving of it.
The food was great! Our waitress, Hilary, was awesome and the owner, Matt, was gracious and welcoming.
Ordered half a chicken, but received two piece of white meat chicken which was very dry. Vegetables were delicious however!
chicken definitely way overpriced
Clam chowder was so smokey that you could not taste the clams. Way too strong tasting. We had lamb chops that were raw, not rare. And the bulgar or what ever was used as the bed upon which the lamb chops were served was so strong tasting it just overwhelmed everything. The roasted whole carrots were so visually unappealing and so overdone we could not even try to eat them. Paige was absent the night we ate there, so the chef-in-charge needed better training. Matt and Hilary were charming and very friendly and helpful.
I ordered the Brussel sprouts app. I love Brussel sprouts and I don't think I ever have ordered ones I didn't like. They were suppose to be cooked with maple syrup. I did not get that flavor at all. They were super vinegar tasting, just not a good flavor. For my entree I ordered the shrimp risotto. The shrimp were fine and had ok flavor but the risotto was very bland in taste but felt super heavy/thick. I have been watching what I eat and this was my cheat night and I felt it was a waste to eat the risotto for how bland the taste was so I really just ate the shrimp.
My husband got the burger and he did like it. I had a bite and was definitely jealous of his meal.
We had been told by 2 different friends that went that the food was too heavy/rich and they would not go again but thought we needed to try for ourselves. Unfortunately we were not impressed.
We had drinks and appetizers. Bacon wrapped dates were delicious. My cocktail was so strong and warm that I could not drink it. Not much in the way of service, and the bright lighting from kitchen area ruined the ambiance.
Attentive service and great food. Looking forward to trying other menu items.
Great service, knowledgeable and attentive server, interesting menu.
Still working out service & food availability issues as a new restaurant. Will return in a few months to see if they iron out...
Great new place. Fun Vibe! Great service and food was terrific.
Fabulous dinner. High end entrees as well as affordable items on the menu. My husband said the ribeye was the best he ever had, better than the Bungalow!
It was very loud and difficult to hear my family but the dood was delicious.
The food is fantastic. The chef really knows how to cook an amazing meal. However, this is a new business and they don't have timing and service figured out. It took us almost 2 hours to complete the meal. They apologized but no discount on the meal. They offered free champagne, but we don't drink so it wasn't much for us. At that point they should have at least comped the soda we ordered.
Amazing new restaurant in RMV. Incredible food, service and ambience. So happy to have an LA/NYC quality restaurant in the OC.
This was a soft opening so there is some room to learn and grow. The service was a little lacking. We requested a hot sauce for clam chowder and she went to get it and must have forgotten. She was going to bring us the happy hour menu and forgot. We ordered two types of oysters - they brought the first batch and forgot the second batch. We will try it again. The location is convenient and there are very interesting items on the menu that we would like to try.
Everyone there was very friendly, attentive and genuine. The food was great and portions were a good size. Seemed to be a popular spot for dates and small groups. The bar inside was very cool, and there is a nice outside patio if you want it a little more quiet.
Really good, comforting food. Great service. Our servers and greeters were very friendly and attentive.
One part that disappointed was that a few of the bus boys decided to take their break in the patio and have their personal conversations and sit down right next to us. They shouldn't be doing that next to customers and maybe going behind the building or something. Aside from that the experience was great
It was a fabulous experience! Mind you, my hubby and I were exhausted from a long work week and arrived super early for our reservation on Valentines! evening. We sat outside with some cozy blankets provided by the hostess and indulged in some delicious appetizers and a delish cocktail! My husband had the lobster grilled cheese which was amazing and I had the ragout special that was so generous I enjoyed it for another day or 2. We had a fabulous red velvet cheese cake for dessert. I think we enjoyed happy hour prices because the bill was very reasonable. My hubby commented on the outstanding service we received. We will be back again and again!
This is my third time going to Scarlet kitchen and lounge and it was fabulous! I totally recommend.
Great ambiance and amazing food!
We were pleasantly surprised how wonderful this restaurant experience was tonight. The food had complex layers of flavors which complimented each other’s. We have been waiting for a quality innovative restaurant in this area and now we have found it. The menu is perfect for comfort food and the noice level was wonderful for conversation.
No bread, no fish of the day, I guess they didn't expect any one on a weekend day. Our entrees were excellant, the signature salad had way to much salami on it, I suppose some would like it that way. Our wattress was excellant.
Love taking friends and family to Scarlet. It is very unique in decor, ambiance and food. Everyone is impressed and we always have a great time!
I have been to Scarlet 3 times and enjoy the food very much. I made reservations on Opentable for 2. It was for a friend’s birthday. We were told a table want available and were told we could sit at the bar. This was not acceptable in my opinion. I do not make a reservation in advance to be told to sit at the bar. Especially given I had notated on Opentable that it was for a birthday.
Wonder small local gem. New restaurant. Service and food was great and good wine selection. The patio will be wonderful during the spring and summer.
Fabulous food, service and ambiance! Definitely be sure to have a reservation as I have no doubt they will stay busy!
Absolutely amazing. Great vibe, great food, great service, great drinks. This restaurant is so needed in this area and we are glad glad glad that you’ve arrived. Chef Paige came out to our table and was sweet as can be. Crazy how busy they were on a Thursday.
Fabulous food. Fabulous service. I’ve been to Scarlet twice and I cannot wait to go back again. The menu is very innovative. I totally recommend Scarlet kitchen and lounge ‼️
Exceptional experience with amazing food! We have been lacking in great restaurants in our neighborhood and this is a keeper.
