Located on the fringe of Chicago’s Wicker Park neighborhood, it’s easy to miss but hard to forget.

Stepping through the storefront entrance, the city dissolves into an intimate world where the artistry of fine cuisine unfolds throughout the evening. The barrier between patron and chef fades. Dinner becomes a night to explore and fully engage the senses.

A fluid menu of vivid courses, crafted by a crew of culinary artists under the direction of Chef Michael Carlson, who work to their own rhythm to re-imagine the possibilities of global, seasonal ingredients. A kitchen where every ingredient is respected and every choice is intentional.

    I can't say enough wonderful things. My wife is still raving about the raviolo dish and the quail dish. What has been an unbelievably tough time for my family the chefs gave us an escape from outside and an opportunity to celebrate my wife's birthday the way we do every year. We loved the laid back atmosphere, the music, and will certainly be back.

    Incredible food. If you aren’t aware: the chefs also act as food runners, so expect courteous but brief interactions. They’re BYOB, and I recommend multiple half bottles of wine for your own pseudo-pairing (they will offer up recommendations with your dishes)

    Fantastic experience. Very creative and super tasty food. The BYOB setup works very well. It is smart that you don’t pay anything extra after the dinner. Schwa is a restaurant like no other.

    Finally made it to schwa on our first trip to Chicago since my BF has been following the chef/owner for a long time. Vibes were great, food was great, crew was great. Hope y'all enjoyed the coffee beans and brewskis. Cheers from Savannah!

    Best tasting menu in Chicago! Schwa leaves the pretention at the door-the vibe is nothing but fun and all about the incredible and creative food. Small room, loud music, BYOB, no front of house staff...this crew gets straight to the point and I am always looking forward to my next reservation.
