   The decor was retro and the ambiance was nice. They have interactive menus on iPads, which provided pictures of the dishes. The server was very pleasant; however, the service was extremely slow. Also, the dishes didn’t not match the pictures on the menu. The taste was average, but the quality to value was not aligned. Overall, this was an average experience.

   The food was good, portions were large, but they were out of several items on the menu. We were there at 7:15 on a Saturday night. They explained there had been a large party the previous night so they were out of some items. The outdoor courtyard was very nice, nice ambience. The waitress ,however, needs improvement in her attitude and body language. She didn't fit in a nice restaurant in Clayton. She acted more like she was working in some hamburger joint .    I’m regretting picking this place for our anniversary. We were staying at Seven Gables Inn and thought it would be good to try their restaurant. The food and service were equally bad. Was told the soup was one thing but she brought out something different. The lobster tails were supposed to come with Yukon potatoes. However, they served what appeared to be frozen breakfast potatoes. Nothing like the picture. Since we were their during Happy Hour, she said we were able to get an appetizer and glasses of wine for Happy Hour prices. However, it wasn’t reflected on our bill. Given the many issues we had with our meal, I didn’t have it in me to ask about that. The good news is that the Inn was very nice.

   Under new management, who were present and making sure we were well taken care of, Walker was an outstanding host and proud of his staff, food, and venue! He went above and beyond to make sure our experience was outstanding! Bruce was great to work with on planning the lunch and very friendly as he also came over to greet us! Unfortunately the construction noise was distracting but that is temporary. We will definitely be back and continue bringing clients here for lunch. It's a quaint place with fantastic food. Look forward to seeing Walker and Bruce again!

   First time visiting and it was a very pleasant experience. The staff were very friendly and our waiter was very nice and welcoming. The atmosphere was very nice and the food was a great value. Definitely putting this in establishment in my brunch rotation.

    Enjoyable dinner at the Seven - service was excellent, food was solid. This is a nice hotel bar restaurant, lots of tvs, so not a spot for an intimate dinner. Our waitress was very attentive, even cooked up a nice fruit juice cocktail for my niece. Overall, we had a delightful dinner and needed with a couple of tasty desserts.

    We went for Clayton restaurant week and had a great experience from the time we walked in to the time we left. Friendly staff, great waiter and the food was amazing!! We will be back!! Good use of restaurant week to find a new restaurant with great ambiance and a cute bar as well!

    The food was exceptional. It was a good value but it was during restaurant week. The surroundings were good. The wait staff seemed to be new and could use a little polishing. The chef came out and talked to us. That was very nice. Overall it was a good experience.

    Was nice. Would have been better if there were more people in restaurant considering every other place is Clayton was booked. Cute place, good food. They really need to use Instagram or something to promote new restaurant. Only two tables were filled, no one at the bar. Made you wonder why so dead.

    We went there for a NYE dinner. Was a fine dinner. A special tasting menu for the evening was served. Food was fine, sparkling wine was fine, atmosphere was fine. Nothing special. No real complaints, just wasn't worth the $240. Could've gone to a different restaurant and got a much cheaper but potentially better meal with multiple drinks for the same price.

    The food was quite good (Seven's salad, Chicken pot pie, and Gable burger). The ambiance was OK. It was not very busy despite being a Saturday night. That turned out to be a good thing because they seem to be suffering from a lack of wait staff. We waited a while to be seated as there was no one around when we arrived, but once we were seated, we were tended to and there weren't noticeable gaps in the service. I would be interested to come back when it's nice enough to sit out on their patio.

    There were very few people there. Many of the items on the menu were not available. Some things appeared and tasted to be pre-prepared and maybe sitting around for a long time. We will not be returing.

    Service was not great. It was Friday night and There were 2 servers and ours was MIA all the time. The courtyard, restaurant, and front patio were not busy at all so not sure what she was doing. The food was mediocre. Crab cakes were burnt. The courtyard had nice ambiance.

    Our party and one other party (table adjacent) were the ONLY people in the joint. Total, perhaps, 12. The food took forever. Everything too forever. WHY did everything take forever? Why? Food was served tepid. Why? The Florentine Benedict was the best I've ever had. And yet, we shall never meet again.

    I had dinner at the Seven restaurant while staying at the Seven Gables Inn on Saturday 7/16/22. I made a reservation on Open Table two weeks prior to arrival. I was a party of one dining at 5:00pm before departing to see a show at The Muny. When I arrived at the restaurant the was one other couple seated at a table inside. It appears the bartender was the only server at the time. I asked if I could be seated outside (Covid you know) and was happily seated at a two-top in the shade while the outside temp was 99 degrees f. I needed to acclimated myself to the heat before attending the outdoor show. I had a voucher from the hotel for a free drink. I ordered a refreshing Gin and Tonic. I also order the small house salad as well as the 14oz. New York Strip dinner. All of the food was fantastic and the bartender/server was always very attentive even though I was outside and his home base of the bar was inside. I didn't have room for dessert after the entree. I rated the value of the meal down one star only because I have had similiarly good steak dinners at hotels for about $10 less than my dinner here. It was very good but maybe a little over priced. My experience at Seven was very good and I would not hesitate going back again the next time I stay at the Seven Gables Inn in Clayton MO.

    Our family went to Seven - Seven Gables Inn for Father's Day brunch and we can't wait to go back! The service was excellent - our waiter was friendly, funny, gave excellent recommendations, anticipated our needs, and checked in on us just the right amount. We sat in the beautiful courtyard and absolutely loved it. We all LOVED our meals -- shrimp & grits, salmon lox BLT, beneflorentine, and ham bennie....all delicious. In fact, I don't think you can go wrong with this menu!
