Shaking Crab - Brookline
I usually go to the Newton location and I’m never unsatisfied. This time I tried a new location, staff was great, the flavor and seasonings were completely off. Won’t be going to this location again.
The service was phenomenal. Gave me better service than the other two shaken crabs. The food was better and gave me a bigger portion than the other two shaken crabs.
First time experience with Cajun kitchen and it was delightful. The service was quick and responsive while respectful of Covid regulations.
The employess were not very welcoming. The waitress did not want to be bothered with questions, was condescending. She kept saying " You saw the menu and this is what it says". The table for two was too small for the boils we ordered and the garlic noodles. They brought the check when we didn't even ask for it. Left 20% tips though. I would not go back there.
Wow ! If your a seafood fan then you just made it to heaven ! Awesome bartenders so great drinks ... food is delicious... service could be a little better (speediness) but other than that it’s great affordable spot
waitress lee was absolutely amazing!
This was my first time eating at The Shaking Crab, and it was nice to get a southern seafood boil vibe up in New England.
Great service, courteous, friendly server. Excellent job with delicious food.
I’m never disappointed by the food here ! It’s always delicious & the two guys working were great & super friendly!
The customer service was great. The food was amazing.
The food was prepared well and delicious. Service was great. Being from the Midwest I wasn’t sure what to expect-I was fine with wearing the plastic bib and gloves but some my not. I would go back.
definitely a different experience eating out of a plastic bag without any utensils. the foot was really good as was the service. the venue is rather sparse and low key, perfect for the sort of establishment. kind of a fun experience overall.
Delicious, I wish their seating can arrange to make this place more cozy.
Valentines day date. Was awesome the food was great the waitress was not that great but the guy at the front desk was awesome.
Nice dinner at Shaking Crab in Brookline. Good food and good service.
Food was decent, service was not. Never received food items ordered, after ordering them twice.
Great seafood and a totally memorable meal and evening! I recommend to all seafood lovers!
While very delicious, I think the food is over priced. There was four of us total and the food came up to $170 and that did not include the tip. I will say that I still will come back because the food is delicious especially for the deep fried lobster tail. The Miso sauce is also my favorite of all the sauce options. We really enjoyed the food. The only issue with service is that it was cold out and the hostess tried to sit us by the door. The place was empty with only one other table in use. When we asked to sit further back (the tables we requested was for a party of five) she said she was saving it for if five people were to walk in. Seriously??? She sat us there after I laughed and pointed out that the restaurant is empty. Good sport...They also mixed my meal up with someone else’s insisting that what I had was mine. I didn’t order the additional sausage. Couldn’t be mine. I don’t eat meat. Food was great though.
Great service, excellent food, interesting and different.
They were out of whole lobster, terrible. Also the service was slow and they were not even that busy.
This was my 3rd time going and I love how diverse the staff is appreciate seeing people just like me working there
Our friends recommended the restaurant to us and we love crab. The greeting and seating were fine and the service was acceptable. The people were all friendly and helpful. The music selection didn't create a relaxed environment and didn't fit the decor. One song could even be construed offensive, if you were of weak disposition. We just laughed it off as the hostess changed it mid-way through. As far as the food goes we were fairly disappointed as we went with the medium spice and different flavors, the flavor was lacking quite a bit. Spice was pretty warm but I hate when something is just spicy without the same explosion of flavor. We had 1lb shrimp, 1lb snow crab legs with corn and sausage. The food was decent quantity but the corn was grossly overlooked. I might give it one more try and maybe try a more mild heat selection but that time, especially since it was our anniversary underdelivered.
I say that because our order which was a combo bag with Envié as the sauce we chose lacked flavor. I have been to the shaking crab in Newton and they blew my mind with flavor which is why we decided on returning but this location lacked attention to the quality and flavor of their food and that is HUGE in the industry and what can make or brake the place. I personally will not be returning or recommending this location
It was amazing
A totally different type of dining experience. Everything is customized to your taste! Not to be missed when dining in this area.
Service was terrible. They billed my card twice. Took forever to get my card back and the right receipt. Was there for my daughters bday so we needed the bill split. Have us a hard time about splitting the bill. They also added almost $50 in gratuity on the bill and was annoyed with my party when we didn’t leave an additional tip. I’ve dined at 2 other shaking crabs (Boston & Quincy) this by far was my worst experience with them.
Food was amazing, with big portions. Good service.
Fun for the adventurous eater who doesn’t mind playing with their food. Also i think it takes a couple of visits to get it right. I had the snow crab, but the sauce overpowered the crab flavor. Next time I will order it plain with sauce on the side.
The only con is that the tables are small for all the stuff
That ends up on them.
We were prepared for a do-it-yourself shellfish event but the way it was prepared (cooking it in a buttery sauce with shells on) made for an extremely slippery and messy experience. The food tasted good and the serving was generous enough for two people (though we could have done with more vegetables) but the overall experience was disappointing.
If each guest has at least a paper plate would be easier to handle the food.
I arrived for my reserved reservation and after being checked in 2 minutes later I was told that the place was shut down because they did not pass inspections. I am highly disappointed that I made this trip for my anniversary dinner that did not happen. This was an experience that I hope that I will never experience again.
The service was incredibly slow. They forgot to take our order. Throughout the meal, they were inattentive. There were employees standing around but no service. However, the food was good so we may give it another try with the hope that the service will get better.
Very good but quite expensive as well. We did get lobsters and king crabs so 50$ per head was something we can’t do on a weekly basis. But food quality and taste is great!
The food was good but service was terrible. The waitstaff was slow to take our order. My husband and I were not given the correct tools to eat our seafood so that was difficult and when we mentioned what a difficult time we’re having that’s when we were given the correct tools.
To top it off I was given someone else’s credit card after I paid and didn’t think I was going to get mine back.
I’m not sure I want to give it another try. Lots of seafood boil restaurant out there.
Very small area, food is overrated. For the boil bags not the best flavor wise. Expected more.
I got the shrimp, heads removed, and ordered it at what appeared to be the lowest heat level offered - medium. I am not a wimp about eating hot food and can usually hang with pretty serious hot food lovers. But after I ate the first shrimp, I started sweating and my eyes started tearing and my lips started burning and I thought I wouldn't be able to eat the rest of my dinner. But I kept at it, and by the time I'd gotten through about 25% of the shrimp, I'd somehow adapted to the heat and ended up loving the dish. The sauce - the House Cajun - was delicious. I'd get it again, and was told I could have ordered it "mild" so I might do that (although I might now be addicted to the heat.) And the other sauces sounded great too - Gulf, Seoul and Cilantro Lime, so I'm looking forward to trying those as well. Looks like I'll be visiting Shaking Crab a lot in the near future!
Food was great!! Different experience loved it. Would deffently go again
