Shakou Arlington Heights
We had a delicious meal as always. Wonderful wait staff too. One of my favorite restaurants!
We enjoy our dining experience whenever we come to Shakou.
Big menu and great food. Waitress explained everything, very helpful as it was my first time there. The only negative is that it was very, very noisy, i could barley hear the person across the table. Will wait for summer when the outside section is open.
Love Shakou and Chris is the best server! He always takes great care of us and knows our orders by heart !
I love this place! I’m gluten free and normally Miso soup is not and at Shakou it is and never had any problems! I’m also allergic to sesame seeds and they do an amazing job of no sesame seeds!
We went on a Saturday evening. The place was crowded and lively. Everything we had was excellent and our server was very good. The atmosphere is modernistic and attractive but the bare surfaces result in a noise level that makes conversation difficult. Great spot for sushi and Asian cuisine.
Everything was excellent, it was my husband birthday last Friday, so I wanted to give a nice dinner. Shakou it is the perfect place I thought. The food was delicious, excellent service and very nice music. Some friends joined us too, they were really impressed.
Always the best sushi in Arlington Heights. It is pricey if you want to buy wine/beer/etc but the sushi is priced fairly.
My daughter was visiting from out of town so we decided to try a new restaurant. Everything was wonderful however the only downside to dining at 5:30 PM is the noise level. I know this is cocktail hour But the loud rap music was overwhelming. If I could make one suggestion it would be to turn the volume down. Otherwise I would highly recommend.
Everyone from valet service, hostess, waiter, and bus staff were kind, efficient, and helpful! Suggested rolls and drinks were delicious! The ambiance was pleasantly modern!
Food was outstanding, but the service was a bit inattentive.
Shakou is one of our favorites. We dine at Shakou at least once a month.
great place, great food
Music too loud
Family friendly. Tasty delicious yummy food. Great Ambience!!
New job get together
Brought our 12 year old twins and we all had a great time!
Great service , beautiful place , great food.
The Vegan options are great. The waiter helped me navigate the menu, while my wife chose this beautiful steak bowl with black rice. The sushi was absolutely superb!
We are not sushi eaters but the restaurant offers other items to accommodate our preferences. Ranka is a fabulous server. She knows the menu items and is always upbeat and happy to see us.
Honestly, I have eaten at 4 different locations on multiple occasions, Park Ridge, St. Charles, Barrington and AHts but not one comes close to food quality and taste like AHts. Every single dish is made like heaven at this location. And service is bar none. Keep up good work.
We got engaged and they brought us drinks and a dessert to help us celebrate. Thanks for such a great night!
Awesome sushi and great drinks. Best value for the money.
Food was great, server was attentive without hovering, atmosphere was also nice and decor is pleasant. The only thing I don’t like is the use of low couches as table seating. I’d recommend rethinking this aspect.
We were a party of 6. It was very loud and hard to have a conversation with anyone but the person beside you
outstanding server: Brian. outstanding gluten free menu; Great food; fun environment
Superior food and service as usual. First time I've experienced a slow night at Shakou, relatively quiet vs the usual bustle. Dined outside tonight, taking advantage of the Indian Summer weather. Great vibe @ Shakou as usual
As always, the best sushi in Arlington Heights with great service and a great atmosphere.
The food and the service at Shakou have never disappointed! The only reason it got only 4 stars for ambience is the very uncomfortable, hard seated, straight back chairs. Our table of 6 should have asked for a "padded" seat in one of the booths or the tables that were set up for 8, but we did not. Next time we will wait until we can be seated someplace more comfortable. It will make the overall dining experience more pleasant. Our server was top notch, the food was really great, and it's a perfect location for dining before or after attending a performance at The Metropolis Theater in Arlington Heights.
I love the Devils Crab roll! Get it almost every time I go. My husband had the Tokyo steak and it was good.
This was our first time st Shakou. The service and food were excellent but the ambience for the cost of the food could have been better. It was very loud and seating was cramped. The table was very small when it came to holding the food we ordered.
Perfect night sitting outside. Food and service was excellent. Always is excellent. We’ll be back soon.
Delicious sushi and amazing service for a special lunch date.
First time there and totally impressed! Elegant ambience and exceptional menu choices!
The Asian sweet potato maki with wonton was sweet and crunchy - wonderful small plate. And the Australian Barrimundi baked in a pastry bag with vegetables was flaky and moist. The waiter was attentive for our birthday occasion. Everyone in our dinner party was equally impressed. Can’t wait to return!
Good food. Good service. Fast but the table was a high top and I wanted a regular table. High tops are way to small we had a hard time juggling the plates around. The noise level was to loud to have a conversation.
We just moved to Arlington Heights and invited friends to go to sushi.
This sushi place has a nice atmosphere with pretty chandlers with high energy, and with loud music. If you do not mind talking loud with your friends and family, then this atmosphere will be okay for you.
We made reservations for 4 through open table. Our table size was for a party of four, but there were not any tables to accommodate or party. That was not that a big deal. The service was a bit slow at times, but it was Saturday night so things were busy. Not a big deal.
The appetizers were good. We ordered fried calamari, and edamame and scallops. No complaints at this point. The scallops were a little fishy, but we were still excited to try their sushi. The cocktails were excellent, as well. Very well made.
The main course: We ordered green dragon sushi, tuna, and salmon rolls. (cant remember the names of the other rolls)The sushi was NOT fresh, nor was the wasabi. We even requested fresh wasabi, but it was clear that it was no different then their standard wasabi. The sushi was warm and not even chilled. We all order sushi, just took the meat out and ate the rice etc. We also, ordered sashimi and it definitely smelled very “fishy” and was slimy and shiny. We just did not want to eat it.
In the end, the price is high and I am not sure I will return. If I am going to go out for sushi and spend a lot of money I want fresh fish. If I do return, I will call first and ask when their fish comes in, and try it on a day where the fish is fresh. Hate to give 1 star but the quality of food was not good.
Love it here. Best service!
We had the opportunity to sit outside as it was one of the nice nights in Chicagoland! That was necessary as the restaurant was VERY loud. That can be good as it shows energy...but can be exhausting if really wanting to have a conversation. The patio was great for us! We sat at a high-top right by the doors. The food is amazing. The service was slow, maybe because they were busy. They need to learn to keep the waters (and other liquids!!) coming, even if food is slower. Have a try at it...you''ll find something you love!
