Shakou Park Ridge
Love this place. Large, with booths, tables, or easy chairs, along with counter service. Good food, good service, gluten-free menu, and new food additions all the time. A bit noisy on weekends, with loud music, but fun.
Always a deliciously sexy fun time......just the booth we were in seemed broken, like we were balancing on a wood plank.
All was perfect from the drinks to the food.
While the quality of food went down a little from prior visits, it was still ok. All 4 in our party thought vegetables pretty raw, very hard with the Salmon terryaki (2) and Chilean sea bass we ordered. The huge pieces made them difficult and cumbersome to eat. We tired of trying to get our server's attention to ask for knives to cut them - and request water as well.
Our rating is based almost solely on the service. Hosts were nice and friendly in seating us. But the server seemed very put out, cold and unfriendly when we ordered anything. Just one example was when she returned to mention a wine that one guest ordered was unavailable, she immediately wanted to know what other wine would be ordered. Server was visibly irritated when that guest asked for the wine list again to look for a second choice. That was typical of the whole experience. She certainly didn't deserve the tip that the bill payer provided (still 15+%), although it was far less generous than he normally provides.
Hubby and I enjoy the sushi rolls here. They are always tasty and fresh and presentation is excellent. Shared yaki udon noodle dish also. It was also very good. Service was good this time. Sometimes it can be slow. It is more expensive than Blufish down the road, but I do prefer the sushi here.
Overall disappointment with my dining experience. My wife ordered a Cosmopolitan and received a Dirty Martini. We tried 3 different sushi rolls only to discover very little flavor based on the description of the rolls in the menu.
The waitress did return the drink to the bar and brought back a correct one. Additionally, she took extremely long to come to the table and check on the food after it was delivered. Drinks went dry and the worst part was that we were still changed $13 for the drink debacle.
The restaurant was fairly busy so that is probably why the drink was messed up and the rolls lacked quality.
One last note, the restaurant was extremely loud with what I can only describe as rave music. Not sure if the two (sushi and dance music) should be paired together.
Fantastic food, enormous menu to accommodate even those who are not shushi lovers like myself. Atmosphere is wonderful, staff is helpful and again food is fantastic. Will be going back again
New Years. Great as usual. Craig is the best
We were at Shakou for a late (1:00) NYE lunch. The food was terrrific as always, but the service was painfully slow. We had to ask for water, our drinks, etc. Appetizers came out one at a time. Not sure what the issue was; the restaurant was really quiet when we were there. Still, typically a great experience, and the bento boxes rock. Worth the trip.
I saw the ratings and I thought at first, hey this is going to be great. This might be great sushi for suburbanites, but if you’re from the city, don’t waste your time. This place is like a sushi Chuck E. Cheese. Awful decor, mediocre food, loud, and kids running everywhere. Not for adults. Our server was the only bright spot, she was wonderful.
We had the Bento bowl and it was delicious. I will definitely come back her all the time.
Park ridge is known for its high end restaurants.
Shakou is one of them and I must say our experience with shakou was amazing.
Ambiance: 4 types of seating (standard, booth, high top and bar) with dim light, cozy seating and magnificent Chandelier Lighting it makes your visit just worth it. ☺️☺️⭐️⭐️
Food: Turn around time was real quick almost no wait which we loved. Tried bunch of drinks: cucmuber infused sake, cloudy sake along with jalapenos battered, sashimi and urban heat sushi. Food was delightful, no complains what so ever.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Overall it was worth visiting this place, decent expensive, shakou is ideal for anniversaries and birthday type occasions.
Pro tip: Reserve seat before hand from open table. For us on a saturday night it was pretty crowded but managed to get in easily.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I was facing the kitchen entrance and carts with dirty dishes. Thanks God Food as always excellent and also service high class
We have been here numerous times and always enjoyed it. For some reason this time the food was just a miss. I’m not sure what was different other than the app we had previously had both the rolls we ordered. Just wasn’t good this time
Have not been there in a while and we ordered Double lobster Which costs a lot. Didnt get anything with it untill we asked for grillem vegetables. Not Good deal. They gave more before. My husband was still hungry
The food was outstanding, service was super quick!!
It’s was just great dinner
Great as always! Thank you!
We have been here several times, and have ordered several different things from the menu. We have been wonderfully surprised at how very good the food has been.
Food and service was great and music was awesome
Always delicious with great service!
The food and service were very good. The music, however, was like a disco. It was out of sync with the rest of the place. However, it is a place I'd go again or recommend to a friend.
The sushi here never disappoints!
Food was only fair and expensive. Good service though.
Service was great as well as food! Prices were just a bit high but at the same time definitely worth it for the food...
Another great dinner!
Great food, huge menu both food and drinks. Prices are very reasonable, liquor a little pricey. I have been to the AH location and this one does not disappoint either. Will definitely be back
Best place in town!
We love this place. The food is amazing. The only complaint we have is that we ordered Patron margaritas, and each one was $18.50! It seems like the drink prices have gone up. We are also not big fans of the music they play - feels a little bit like a club. But we will always continue to go back for the food!! Definitely recommend.
The club music didn’t fit the ambiance, it was annoying after a while.
The food and drink menu was very good.
The food was excellent
The decor and ambiance were very nice.
The food was very good but for the price your going to pay. Party or four and ordering moderately with only one drink each was over $200. It was very good but not to that level in comparisons to other places I’ve gone to in Chicago.
Great sushi on a Sunday
Excellent food with a cosmopolitan ambiance. We really enjoyed it!
It was amazing. Some good energy doesn’t hurt right?! We laughed we ate great food and we enjoyed it. I love Shakou , I love how I feel here and how special every time is. Thank you
I have been to Shakou once before and loved the food, the service was ok, but the noise level was incredibility loud. This time we made a reservation for 7:30 pm for my birthday celebration. I was totally excited to enjoy all that they offer food wise. We arrived 10 minutes early and they informed us that there were 5 parties with 7 pm reservations that still were waiting to be seated and it would be quite a wait.
This was such a disappointing experience as we had to leave. My husband is a diabetic and people cannot just postpone for an hour! That was a bit excessive to us...
Great food. Excellent service!
Server was not as attentive as we would have liked.
Services was great, the booths are very uncomfortable
