Sheehans Pub

This establishment no longer uses Open Table. Do not bother to reserve. We got lucky and there was plenty of room when we went. They have told Open Table multiple times to remove them and it has not happened.

We were a family of 5 who went on a Tuesday evening around 7:15 p.m. We were seated upstairs. All was good!

Sheehan's Pub is a lively three-story restaurant/bar right in the thick of downtown Dublin. If you are looking for traditional Irish food, this is the place. The Irish Stew was outstanding as was the Guinness Pie. Great beer selection, too.

Went there after a drinking session at the Jameson Distillary, so needed a proper hearty meal to soak up the alcohol and continue the amazing atmosphere of Dublin, thats exactly what we got. We were treated warmly by the staff at Sheehans, made to feel very welcome. The service is what you would expect of a place in the center of Dublin, felt more like you were at your own local but better. The food was the highlight, I havn't eaten traditional food (the stew) like that in a while, reminded me of how my grandad used to make it. Despite the place being busy for a week day early evening, we really felt that they managed to serve us well and promptly. Would recommend anyone visit here while in Dublin especially if your looking for quality traditional food and an atmosphere without the tourism of Temple Bar.

Here once before, seafood chowder was at that time great. Seems all the pubs/restaurants in this area now get their prepared chowder from the same purveyors-it’s lousy, salty, minimum seafood.
Another favorite is Ireland’s famous soda bread, found here before however not this time-just a couple pieces of plain brown bread, didn’t eat it.
The Irish lamb stew was excellent.
Overall a disappointment as this pub was recommended by a ‘local’ gentleman so will most likely explore another pub on next trip through Dublin.

We booked before our Dublin trip, following good reviews on Trip adviser. It wasnt too busy on a Sunday eve. The staff were welcoming, helpful and friendly. Food was good and so was the wine and Guinness. Warm, comfortable environment without too much music. An excellent eve.

Sheehans Pub has long been a local Dublin treasure. It takes only a single visit to understand why. The restaurant is cozy, comfortable, and the food is nothing short of fantastic. The drinks, both beer and cocktails are among the best. A reservation means gets you a table and immediate seating from pleasant, efficient staff. You simply cannot go wrong on this one.
