Casual dining with great Lawry's prime rib sandwich and fish and chips.
Had a great time. Very cozy. Good food. Friendly staff.
Nice pub ambience, delicious food and efficient service
The prime rib sandwich is a wonderful example of simple perfection.
Food was excellent, as was the service. My daughter said her salad was amazing and my prime rib was perfection.
First my beer seem a bit warm and when i told my waiter he was almost confrontional about it. then I ordered southern fried chicken and one drum stick was bloody which ruined my appetite. The bartender seems angry and not happy to be work. Only good thing was my wife’s dirty martini.
Excellent prime rib sandwich and fries. Beautiful setting that would br great with refined music. Instead they have loud, very annoying songs that sound more like a strip club than a good restaurant. I found it unbearable.
Great service and unique ambience. Fantastic happy hour specials til 7.
Great food and terrific service!
Nice heavy pours and a great wine selection. Nice variety of bar type foods but in a upscale twist!
SideDoor was so great! It was our first time there, Scott, who was taking care of us was a riot, the food was delicious! And, there were Christmas Carolers who even saying Hanukkah songs and were very happy to do so, just a fabulous evening I couldn’t have asked for nicer! Thank you!
The service was amazing! The music was a little loud and they gladly turned it down for us. Food was amazing! We went on 12/15 and there were carol singers that came and sang happy birthday for us and then a Christmas carol as well. Overall excellent experience, I will be back!
Our food was wonderful and unique. We ordered three side dishes to split between two and it was perfect. We also had a bottle of wine and there was no sticker shock when we got the bill. Also, our waiter was great!
We will definitely go back.
1st time visit - dinner for 4 - overall very impressed. Didn't feel squished in a bar/ side of a restaurant - ambiance was delightful including holiday carolers (they sang Christmas and Hanukah songs too!). Waiter loved telling jokes - very cheerful and relaxed. Prime rib was the same great taste as main restaurant but 6oz is really small. I found out you can get bigger portions which I would do but $39 for the small seemed a lot. Would get it again though. 1 person found their knife & fork pastrami sandwich too spicy - but without the giardiniara would have enjoyed. 1 ordered ribeye steak - enjoyed but was very surprised and disappointed couldn't substitute anything for fried brussel sprouts which they dislike. Felt the smell of the sprouts overpowered the whole plate, including the smashed potatoes which they did like. Korean bbq short-ribs order was very well received - loved it. VERY nice alternative to the more formal, more expensive main Lawry's restaurant. Definitely recommend giving it a try but find out how your dish is prepared so you'll end up happy. Will go again and get prime rib again!
Love the option of getting prime rib in a more casual environment. Service was the most lacking portion of the experience. The server was not attentive, we were often without water, little follow up or care.
Order the prime rib sandwich or the pastrami, you're welcome!
It's not a fancy restaurant by all means. But definitely it is a boutique place that you can enjoy great drinks (from wine to cocktails to beers) and tasty food quietly with friends or a dear one.
Very slow service. Odd music was played loudly until carolers came through. Food was great. Bartender was obviously unhappy and didn't ask us when we were ready to order.
Wonderful service and a delightful evening!!
beautiful ambiance. Wish the menu was a little better. We had the octopus which was a little rubbery. The burrata was outstanding and so was the salmon tartar. Fish and chips were good but it would be nice if they offered healthier options.
I was worried about our waitress at first she seemed a bit slow and young. But she was probably the best waitress I had in a long time. She was attentive, prompt, the orders were perfect she made sure everyone was satisfied. She made the experience enjoyable. My complaint was we were originally a table of 14 and 2 didn’t show. The table was tight and there was no room for 2 more. The chairs were uncomfortable. They need new chairs. The prime rib sandwiches were excellent but everyone complained about too much salt on fries and burgers. I will go back but sit in a booth and say easy on the salt.
Side Door is everything great about the Lawry's experience in a more casual atmosphere. Great food, perfect portions and expertly prepared cocktails. We love it as much as Lawry's, just for different reasons. We will definitely be back again and again.
The restaurant is not open at noon. It does not open until 4:00 pm. Opentable needs to adjust the timing of the reservations to not include the lunch hour.
I was dissatisfied in the handling of the reward points.
Very meh .... Service was subpar and food overpriced
Loved the architecture! Food was delicious. Our server was friendly and attentive.
SideDoor is a best kept secret. The service and food are outstanding! I can'w wait to return.
Moderately priced mostly meat oriented sandwich fare. Good bar and prompt service. Great location just off Michigan Avenue. Prime rib sandwich is melt in your mouth and great flavor.
Great service and environment. Some food was really good while some of the other dishes were less than impressive. The Korean short ribs and buffalo cauliflower were excellent! The fried chicken was average, and wouldn’t recommend.
If you can get by the lady sitting you will have a great experience. She was not nice to us at all. But the staff and cooks more than made up for rudeness. Don’t let her scare you off.
Casual night our with husband.
My bf asked me to marry him
Food was good Prime rib sandwich and pastrami sandwich were DELICIOUS! Lobster bisque soup was lacking any pieces of lobster but the soup was flavorful. The key lime pie was disappointing. It had a sour taste. Our server, Scott, was friendly and efficient.
Best French dip I've ever had! Cooked to order prime rib on the softest bread with the silkiest au just. Can't wait to go back!
I had a great cheeseburger with their amazing chips. My friend really enjoyed her salad. Nice beer selection and a great place to tuck into for lunch. Look forward to going to Side Door for dinner sometime.
We did we for lunch. Was just an okay experience. Our waitress was not attentive.
We had Prime rib sandwich which had a lot of gristle, and roast beef sandwich is was very tough, and the side salads tasted like mold. Not sure if it was an ingredient in the dressing? The homemade chips were delicious. Not sure we will visit again.
Celebrating my best friend’s birthday, Jake our server was excellent. The ambience and the food was superb due to it being my first time in Chicago. Definitely will be returning in the near future
Good options on the menu. Would be helpful if the avocado in the avocado mash had some more spices but the steak and chicken dishes were very good.
Every single employee from the hostess, host, bartender, and waitress (and manager) went out of their way to assist/accommodate my wheelchair bound mother. Outstanding service and food.
The food was terrific, very good and tasty ribs. However, the service was really poor. First, we arrived 20 minutes earlier so we asked to be sitted to have some drinks before the meal but the waiter said that we could not be sitted before our booking, even though the restaurant was half empty. So we had to go for drinks nearby. Then, we had to wait very long for our food. And when paying the check, they could not split it in more than 3 cards. Many of us did not have cash so it was a mess. And overall, the waiter was not very kind. In summary, nice food ruined by a poor customer service. I would not recommend it.
