Smith & Wollensky Steakhouse - Chicago
While the food and ambiance is spectacular, the service was absolutely poor, disappointing and unprofessional. The service was the absolute worst and the waiter should never be retained at any upscale restaurant. There is a zero chance we would ever visit again despite the food being excellent.
Great food and great service! Always s a delight!!
Great food, service, and scenic view
Smith and Wollensky is one of my favorite restaurants. Their steaks are always amazing and I love the view of the river! The service is always pleasant.
Very Nice, wife’s birthday turned out great !
Great food. Pricey, but worth it. We visited for a post Valentines day romantic meal, and had a great time. The steak and lobster were first rate. Even the potatoes were excellent. Wonderful place.
Nba all star weekend lunch
Only wish they would’ve let us know that they don’t serve lunch in the upstairs dining room in the off season. It’s a much prettier space than the lower pub imho. Otherwise was very nice.
When we first arrived we were greeted by the manager that was helping seat. He told us that they were a little behind, but they would get us a table as quickly as they could. While waiting, I made a stop at the bar and grabbed a drink. Both bartenders were delightful and quick. I informed the manager that we were celebrating a 10 year anniversary, and if I could get a table by the window. He told me it would be a little bit of a wait but he could get it done. While waiting he came by and offered us complimentary champagne for our celebration. Shortly after we were taken to our seats. The server was very attentive and answered any of our questions. While my wife stopped in the bathroom he asked if she liked chocolate. We got our meals, and they were made to perfection. At the end our server brought out a chocolate cake to help celebrate our anniversary. I picked this restaurant for the view, but the best thing about it was the hospitality that every single worker puts out. I want to say thank you for making our 10 year anniversary that much better.
The food portions were over priced in my opinion . Prices are high as well. I had a filet mignon it wasn’t the best , I recommend Steak 48 or Long Horn over this place.
Excellent food!! Highly recommend the filet mignon for an entree and the bacon for an appetizer! JJ was an awesome server! Awesome views of the river!
Great service. Our waiter Jesus was wonderful!
Best steak I’ve ever had! Our waiter was awesome. It was really packed for Valentine’s Day but that’s to be expected. We were able to enjoy our food without feeling rushed like you do at other restaurants. I will be back again!
Awesome! Great food
We made a reservation for Valentine’s Day. We frequent Smith and Wollensky’s and generally it is a great place. However, they either overbooked or allowed same day patrons to eat. Our table was relegated to a back room in the basement near the kitchen. We were not even offered the ability to wait for a better table. Because the servers had to walk three blocks to get there, service was delayed. Incredibly, no one even apologized initially for such a lousy table and room. Through your meal, a server had to keep putting something under the table leg to keep it from wobbling. It was horrible and inexcusable. The room looked like someone’s basement from 1977. With what they charge, this should not happen. Buyers, beware on a popular night. ASK where your table is when you check in.
I was very disappointed it was my first and will be my only visit. There are tons of great steak places in Chicago and I would not recommend S&W. The steaks surprisingly had very little flavor. Overall just another steakhouse. There are simply way better options in the city such as joes stone crab, gibsons italia, and RPM.
The waiters, managers and hosts are so nice. The ambiance is gorgeous. The food magnificent.
Our server was Mark. He was phenomenal. He really made the experience memorable with his broad knowledge of the city, the menu, and his charisma. Just wish we could have sat by the window on the river (it’s breathtaking visually). Otherwise, it was a terrific experience. Definitely an unforgettable night and one you would not regret. 5/5.
The best steaks we’ve ever eaten!
The waiter not give the correct attention to our table as compared to the table of men sitting directly next to us. However, I loved the food and would return.
Ribeye was disappointing
Great Food, Great Service, and a Great Location!!!
Just average and a server that didn’t mention they don’t accept outside wine after we ordered. Manager did a nice gesture to attempt to recover.
Smith and Wolensky is a classic Chicago Steakhouse. Outstanding food and ambience. Very knowledgeable staff that is always willing to assist.
will be back. Looking our over the want was so nice
Overall the experience was positive, our waiter was outstanding. The steak did not blow me away I wish I could say that it was great because every other aspect of the restaurant was good. When you buy a steak and it’s flat out just a tough piece of meat it makes you wonder why not just buy a decent piece of meat and prep it yourself.
Food was amazing, service was great
As always, everything we ordered from the appetizers through dessert was fabulous. Everything was cooked perfectly and served at the right temperature. Tried the wagyu tenderloin for the first time and it was the best steak I've ever had, tender and flavorful. Ended the night with a port and sorbet and brought a slice of the best chocolate cake home!
Great restaurant we continue to return to. Great food, especially steaks, creative cocktails, excellent service and food.
Excellent as usual. Love coming to Smith and Wollensky for lunch during restaurant week. Loved sitting by the window where we could look at the river and the beautiful buildings. Loved the carpaccio salad and the salmon. It's one of our favorites to go to also in the summertime.
We were greeted by the manager and sat down by the great view of the river. The server was informative about the food, and everyone was so attentive, without them being on top of you. Loved it
February 5th was our 26th Anniversary and Anna and the Staff was EXCELLENT
Visiting chicago for the very first time. Dinner with family. Everything was excellent, just one small detail: tables are very close each other you can hear others conversations.
I recommend the bone-in rib eye
Very good location with the view to the river, consider a table in the windows or outside.
Consider parking in a building aside with valet only for 36 usd.
Great Staff, delicious food and would be perfect for a special occasion celebration
Theresa was amazing as usual the food was delicious an the Brussels sprouts were 🔥
Hosted 5 business women from Louisville for dinner.
