Smokehouse Restaurant at Antrim 1844
We were warmly welcomed and seated in one of the parlors where we were served cocktails and appetizers while someone played the piano
During dinner our server was very well informed, knew about my husband’s food sensitivities and helped us pair wines with our dishes. We haven’t been her in about 18 years! It won’t take that long for our next visit!!
Apart from one really drunk girl at the next table over who was basically shouting her business and text messages to everyone in the room, it was fantastic! Came there for my 40th birthday and the food was spectacular.
Amazing experience! A pretty penny but I’d absolutely go back. I plan to stay there and then eat dinner there as well. Maybe for an anniversary. Sat beside the piano player which was incredible.
Overall outstanding dining experience from the ambience of the Holiday decorated sitting rooms to the food in the dining room. Our only negative was the lengthy time for our server to bring the check upon conclusion.
Excellent food and great service. We will definitely be back again.
Very nice experience as I would expect at their price point....first visit....will not be my last
Celebrating the special Christmas season with a great meal and to enjoy Antrim 1844’s great Christmas decorations!
Really great, unique atmosphere and experience. Live piano playing adds to it
Awesome! We went on a Tuesday night, which was excellent, because it was quiet and perfect! I will go again on off nights because it was the best! We've been there before on Fri/Sat nights and felt rushed and overlooked, so I highly recommend the off night.
The staff was all attentive and our waiter (oh, I'm terrible at names, i asked him twice and still don't remember) but he made the BEST Gettin' Figgy with it drinks (and instructed someone else on the last one I had, which was just as awesome!)
My favorite place there every time is the Pickwick Pub. Huge fireplace, soft leather couches and I've never had a bad drink or bad word there! I'd go just to camp out there, but the dinner is bonus!
We had the salmon and filet, both cooked to perfection! The cheese plate was good, as was the salad and soup. But mostly, I love the atmosphere and the piano player and the smell and feel of the place. They always have wood burning fireplaces going, which I love and the live piano player was right next to us and still the right level. We've sat at the other end of the room before and also felt it was the right level.
Great place! Someday I want to spend the night as well.
This was an awesome experience. We celebrated a birthday with great food, a wonderful selection of wine and a beautiful dining ambiance. Our server and resident Sommelier, Sarah was fantastic! Can’t wait to go back. The Christmas decorations are stunning too!
Dining at Smokehouse Restaurant at Antrim 1844 was absolutely delightful! The mansion was decorated for Christmas, which made it even more beautiful. The food was fantastic - such a treat! - and the service couldn't have been better. It amazed me how perfectly timed every course was. This is an excellent restaurant for a holiday or celebration dinner!
We attended as a group of 4 to celebrate birthdays. This is not our first trip to the restaurant. However there was just something a little off with the service this time.
We arrived about 5 minutes before our designated reservation time of 7pm and so were escorted to the veranda to wait for the drawing room to clear. After a couple of minutes and no one came for us we returned to the main hallway where the hostess greeted us as if we had just arrived.
We were given menus to choose cocktails and the appetizers were passed for a few minutes until we were seated. Our server came and greeted us pleasantly but seemed a bit overwhelmed.
After she took our dinner and wine orders it was a long time until she came back. Eventually apologized for the delay saying that the wine order had somehow wiped out our dinner orders. So everything was off kilter after that.
We got wrong items, there were delays etc. just not the usual experience we’ve had at Antrim before I’m sorry to say.
Waited 35 minutes for bottle of wine. Waiter was not waiting on us either , they had a regular staff doing most of the service. Very disappointed with our Thanksgiving dinner here this year. No one even said they were sorry about the wait for wine which would have helped. The fact they ignored us and other diners had to complain as well was not the service we expect from this place .
Wonderful special occasion experience.
I am French and this might be why I am so picky on the food..
We shall return..
This was an extremely disappointing experience. The atmosphere an location was great however it took a turn when we sat down for the meal. We were seated at a two top with both chairs facing the window with no view. The service was rushed at first then slow at the end. The wine pairings did not match the entree’s. Just an overall disappointment.
Phenomenal!!! This is our second time to this restaurant. The food is Amazing!!!! Such a nice presentation & very friendly staff. Love the assigned menu with our family name or event name on them.
Wonderful Experience. Food & Service was great. Loved the shrimp & black rice. Rock Fish was a small portion but delightful. More options needed for desert bu the cheese board was tops
We celebrated our 32nd Anniversary.... the whole evening was delightful... drinks in the cozy bar, appetizers in the lounge , dinner all 6 courses and a great evening in the Reindoor cottage....would definitely recommend this B&B!
First thesis review was a wine dinner and may not represent the restaurant overall. The place was crowded and noisy which does not fit the atmosphere. The service was terrible. Wine was poured as they talked about the first two wines and everyone sampling we were waiting. They started to bring out food and still no wine. We complained to the winery hosting and were finally brought the wine. The food was spotty. Some courses were good. However, you could tell by the plating that food was being rushed out. Also the hot foods were not hot. The worse was the ribeye. It was extremely salty like a pretzel and overcooked. When I complained to the waiter no response. I do not blame the kitchen entirely. The management decision to have so many meals pushed out in order to make a bigger profit was also to blame. I would consider giving the chef another try but they really need to work on the service.
Thank you again for taking the time to speak with me about your dining experience. We definitely strive to exceed all of our guests expectations and are disappointed that we did not accomplish this with you. I look forward to hearing back from you so I may personally handle making your dining reservation. We look forward to welcoming you back. Jim Shideler General Manager
Wine dinner was excellent and service was excellent also. Only complaint was the noise level.
The ambiance was outstanding and the meal was excellent. It is a special place.

Absolutely magnificent! What an experience. From the beginning we were personally escorted to a beautiful living room to enjoy a cocktail and hors d'oeuvres. The mansion is stunning and appointed with beautiful period antiques! I put my selection in the hands of their Sommelier, Sarah and she choose a wonderful red wine for me to begin the evening. My husband enjoyed his favorite gin! After exploring the mansion we were escorted to a lovely table by one of the many fireplaces! The meal was perfect, from the first course to the delightful dessert including the complimentary wine pairings and espresso ending! The lamb was tender and cooked to perfection. We especially loved the Amuse-bouche, a beautifully seared rock fish paired with a tomato orzo! My husband had the filet with the foie gras that he said was the best he’d ever eaten. We ended our evening with a tour of the unbelievable wine seller. Thank you Sarah for making this one of the best dining experiences we have ever had! 5 Stars and then some! We will return, hopefully to enjoy one of Sarah’s wine classes!
Definitely an experience everyone should try! Second time my husband and I have been here for dinner, and it never disappoints!
An elegant, perfectly timed dinner experience with service unmatched by any restaurant in the Baltimore area. Well worth the scenic drive.
The pianist made the night. Also, passed appetizers and drinks while we waited was a nice touch.
Incredible experience. Service is top notch (kudos to Scott). Love the atmosphere, location, and food was quite tasty also
Excellent food. Top notch service. Beautiful building and location.
This restaurant is our special occasion restaurant, service, food, and atmosphere are all wonderful and exquisite
We enjoyed the whole experience
Celebrated both my wife’s and my birthdays. Delicious dinner, fabulous waitstaff and lovely ambiance.
I would give it 5 stars however my experience didn’t match the amount that we paid. I have a ton of food allergies and noted that on my reservation. Manager called me and totally hyped up how great they would take care of me and so my expectations were very high. Much to my disappointment they were not prep for my arrival— the staff had no idea what was in anything to even help me navigate the appetizers or options for dinner. We almost left I was so upset. In the end the food was amazing but our special anniversary dinner started out terribly.
Best food I’ve had in years
Highly recommend for special occasions
Wonderful! Outstanding food. Outstanding service. Outstanding ambiance. A definite repeat.
One of the best dining experiences I have every had!
I was not expecting the outstanding service, and the most romantic experience I have had in years. The Menu memento was a lovely touch!
Absolutely amazing experience! I highly suggest dining here. I wish we would have stayed the night at their inn. From the moment we arrived we were treated like guests for an evening party. We look forward to bringing our family in the future.
It was very pleasant, a lovely atmosphere, staff were very helpful. One of my dishes was over cooked and they replaced it with something else and were quite apologetic. Most everything was very tasty.
