As always we had an excellent meal. No one rushes you but the service is wonderful. I highly recommend Sontuosa.
The service is awful!!! The waitresses kept interrupting us and trying to clear the table while we were still eating. They dropped the silverware on us a couple of times when they were serving.
The food is bad for the price. The calamari were rubbery and the beet salad had two half an inch pieces of beets in it. It was really a mixed-green salad for $15!! The pizza was ok.
No music playing!
Food is consistently excellent. Our go to place.
Food was very tasty. Server was fair. May have been new. Definitely would go back.
Food was good but it was very crowded due to Valentine’s Day.
Great lunch! Owner was super friendly and accommodating! Will be returning!
So good I'm making a reservation for 4 next week!
Very quiet during the week. Nicely presented good tasting. I had a special, Branzino which was very good. Tres Leche cake was great.
Had heard good things about this restaurant. Found it overpriced, not well run (waited a long time for service) food OK but nothing special. Fairly limited menu, corkage fee. Nice atmosphere. But would not return.
Glen, we are so sorry you didn't have a nice experience with us.
Very overpriced for portion size and menu prices were different from online menu
Thank you for calling our attention to on line menu prices, it has been corrected.
Great time! The owners are great, friendly, and very attentive to all their guests. The food was delicious, well presented, and freshly prepated.
Great food with great service. Returning again this week.
Great food! Friendly and helpful service - super place to go!
Went to Sontuosa after not having been for a month or so as we were out of town. It was so good we wondered why we waited so long! Caitlin, our server, was friendly and had a great smile - and a great sense of humor. The food was superb - Ernesto and his team never disappoint! Go there - you won't regret it!
Our first time eating at Sontuosa and we were very pleased. Food was excellent. We had skirt steak, fish and chicken. All were a success. As an extra bonus, it was not noisy so we could actually have a conversation! We will definitely go back.
Thank you, Eileen, for taking the time to write such a nice review! See you when you return!
Our first visit to this restaurant. Food was delicious. Service a little slow but hostess and owner were very attentive by checking in regularly. We will definitely go back.
I am narrowly recommending this restaurant to people who are looking for a night out. Just make sure your entire party is with you! The manager gave us a hard time because the third person in our party of three didn't show up until later. We waited over an hour for our food--and for a glass of water! When it finally arrived, the food was tasty. The Caesar salad, which I order in every restaurant, was kind of puny. If they gave us three spears, they gave us a lot. The cheese and anchovies made the entire salad. The pizza was light and airy, and I had no problem with that. The cappuccino maker was broken, and the waiter was not knowledgable about what was on the menu. I asked him what the soup of the night was, and he took at least five minutes to find out. Our waitress was lovely, and she kept apologizing about the wait, the food, etc. If only the manager was as accommodating! She kept staring at me and my friend as if we were aliens from another planet, while being pleasant to the table next to ours. How do restaurants like this stay in business? And who doesn't have chocolate cake--or some variation of it--on their menu for dessert?
In short, I liked the food, I liked the bread, and I would highly recommend the pizza. The manager could use some work on her people skills. The sad thing is, she didn't used to be that way.
The reservation was for 3, your third person came an hour late, that table was requested for guests after you, you should have been done but it was tied up so we had to explain to the next guest why they couldn't have the table. Our busboys are not informed of the menu, servers are, Caitlyn handled the situation as best as she could because our policy is that the whole table order goes to the kitchen , not in stages. We expected a repaired coffee maker in time for dinner service, so sorry.
Great food. Neighborhood gem.
I have been wanting to try Sontuosa because of all of the positive reviews on FB lately. We had a reservation at another restaurant on New Year's Eve, but when I heard that a party of 20 had cancelled at Sontuosa I decided that it would be a good night to support them. We had an early New Year's Eve reservation - 6:30 p.m. The place was not crowded when we arrived. Our server was a young girl who was adorable but not a seasoned wait person. We asked if we could order our appetizer and take our time with ordering our entree in order to have a slower dining experience. We were told this would not be possible. We ordered the grilled calamari which was well prepared and very tasty. The entrees came out pretty quickly after the appetizer - my husband ordered the lasagne which he said was very good. I ordered the lamb shank over risotto. The lamb entree was a nice sized portion but it had very little flavor. It was interesting that the woman at the table next to us ordered the lamb shank as well - she received a side of vegetables with hers. I am not sure if she ordered that along with the lamb (I did not see any items a la carte on the menu) or if it was included on the menu item - I did not receive vegetables with my order. We ordered the blueberry crumble for dessert which was very nicely prepared. The meal was way to fast - not a leisurely New Year's Eve dinner at all. I would have enjoyed the meal so much more had it been a slower pace and had our server been a little more professional, especially given the price of the meal and the expectation that went along with the price. As an aside, someone posted on FB that they received a gift of a bottle of champagne at the end of their New Year's meal at Sontuosa - we did not receive a bottle of champagne at the end of our meal.
My husband said he would be curious to try Sontuosa on a different night when we could try their pizza (pizza was not on the New Year's Eve menu).
We appreciate you supporting us ! It is our custom to submit a complete order so that timing is proper. We allow 90 minutes for a table of 2, the table had 2 more reservations coming for NYE so it was important to keep things moving smoothly. BYO's have a small window of time to produce revenue, I apologize that you felt rushed. Also, that gal next to you ordered side vegetables. My husband and I gave bottles to patrons, as a gesture of gratitude, to guests who dine with us very frequently
Fortunately we were able to get a last minute New Year’s Eve reservation! Our server Caitlin was wonderful! Helpful, attentive in a very polite way, and personable! The escargot appetizer was delicious as was the Caesar salad! I had the branzino served over truffle mashed potatoes and string beans... WOW! My husband had the surf and turf and loved every bite! Didn’t have dessert as we were going to a friend’s home where dessert was being served! Mary (chef’s wife) was personable and helped make our first but not last meal at Sontousa an excellent one!!
Thank you for your great review, Nancy! It was a pleasure to meet both of you and hope to see you again!
Such a good choice! Will definitely be going back. Service was top notch and food was delicious!
I had the pan-seared fillet of Bronzino. IT was delicious! Ernesto is quite creative with their menu, and the vibe in the restaurant is warm and friendly, like a special restaurant in NYC on the small streets of Soho!
We have eaten here a few times and we also held a birthday party at this restaurant. We have found the food, service and ambiance to be excellent.
We were impressed by the service. BTW our waiter was the owner. LOL. Bronzino was a beautiful fillet egg plant Parmesan was excellent as well
PS it’s not our first time at Santuosa
Thanks, Bob, for your review! Ernesto knows how to take care of his guests!
Everything was great! For a local BYOB, the food and service were excellent (I'm comparing Sontuosa to the best restaurants in the area). One minor complaint (and this might have been to time the simultaneous arrival of our three entrees) was that my pizza could have been hotter when it arrived.
David, I'll address the kitchen about the timing on the pizza! Thank you for your review !
Very solid meal start to finish. Liked everything we ordered.
Thanks, David, so glad to read that you liked Sontuosa!
Photographed an event there yesterday. The food and ambiance were terrific. Sontuosa is the best BYOB on the mainline.
Ernesto owns and runs one of the finest restaurants on the Main Line; his experience with George Perrier showing!
Excellent food!!! BYOB with great service and relaxed atmosphere. It is rare to find a restaurant that you can talk and hear your parties’ conversation as you can here. It is a treat to frequent this lovely place.
Great food and service. Great spot to grab an excellent meal.
They were short-staffed and did not alert us in advance. Dinner came 1 1/2 hours after we sat down. The food (once it came) was excellent.
I appreciate your feedback and suggestion, Susan. Again, I apologize for the sluggish service, it was a tough night but I hope it won't inhibit you from visiting us in the future. I'm glad you enjoyed our flavors!
Supposedly, there was a kitchen worker who called out sick
We heard this because we asked, sort of
Our question was “where is our dinner?”
This question was asked 50 minutes after the appetizer plates were cleared
That is bad enough
But nobody came by to explain, offer bread or anything
In fact, I think we should have been forewarned when we arrived
A one hour wait for the next course is simply unacceptable
We wanted to put an appetizer order in and then decide about our entrees. We were told we couldn't do that. We had to put both orders in at the same time. One of the entrees was cold when it came out.
Yes, Kate, we have our servers put the entire check in at once because this system minimizes the wait between apps and dinner instead of your dinner order getting delayed by other tables putting complete orders in . I apologize for your entree being cold, I hope you alerted your server and it was rectified immediately.
Ernesto and Mary, we missed you tonight! Everything was exceptional. We took my boss and his girlfriend and they were very impressed. Loved it!! We also met your beautiful daughter. See you soon!
Hennie and Jeff Shore
We're glad to know you all enjoyed your meals, thanks for bringing "Newbies"! We'll see you soon!
I had the skirt stake. Served medium rare with a delicious deep red reduction sauce. One of the best skirt stakes I've ever had. I'll have it at least twice per month, so should you!!!
What a nice review, thank you!
Food and service was fantastic and I will highly recommend to all my friends.
Wow, super rating and thank you!
The osso bucco and the pasta that came with it was amazing! Quiet enough for a good date night.
Great service. Friendly waitstaff. Delicious dinner. We are so lucky to have Sontuosa in BM!
I’d say fantastic “as usual,” except that nothing about Sontuosa is “usual.” While the menu regularly includes some of their specialties, there are always some new surprises as well. This week there was escargots and a special delight — a marrow bone appetizer. My main dish was a lasagna. Not the stringy cheesy dish, but a real European style — three layers of light pasta with a Bolognese Ragù in between and just a hint of cheese. My husband’s appetizer was scallops with bacon. His main dish was a pork cutlet, pounded thin and breaded. Even the sides are special. You could really come here every week and never get tired of it.
Excellent food and service. Not one complaint! Had a great meal.
What a treasure, tucked away on Bryn Mawr Ave., but walking distance to the Bryn Mawr theatre!
Ernesto greeted me warmly, as I waited for my friend to arrive. Our server, Kaitlin, was very attentive, friendly, but not invasive. For appetizer, we split the special flatbread, zucchini w/truffle drizzle-outstanding. I enjoyed the grilled calamari, done perfectly and my friend loved her potato soup, the special of the day. We each had a different salad, she, the beet salad and I, the arugula/lemon ....can't wait to try more at this lovely trattoria.
