Sorrento Italian Restaurant
We were looking for an authentic Italian restaurant and we were guided to Sorrento's based on all of the great reviews. This place did not disappoint. Our server, Enric, was so nice and friendly as was the rest of the staff. The food was incredible. They make their bread by hand every day and they serve it with some olive oil, room temperature/slightly melted butter and crushed pepper. They also make a house dressing for their salad that was so good. We told Enric we were celebrating our anniversary and he brought us a slice of cheesecake. We can't wait to go back and dine there again. Highly recommend Sorrento's!
Such warm, welcoming staff, nice neighborhood restaurant, reasonably priced, warm tasty rolls, love that the interior has been brightened up
Fui con mi hija que vinimos q jacksonville por primera vez y nos quedamos encantadas. El lugar es muy tradicional, la comida es espectacular, el pan con aceite de oliva inigualable… postres deliciosos. Tienen vinos y cervezas. No sirven cócteles. La atención es muy buena, son muy amables. Regresaría todas las veces que tenga que venir a jacksonville. Los precios razonables.. el lugar no es tan acogedor pero todo lo demás está tan bien, que vale la pena ir.
This was the first time we had been to Sorrento. The food was very good however we found the marinara sauce to be very sweet. Less tomatoey than sugary. The chicken Sultamboca was excellent. The eggplant Parmesan was good, except it was smothered in the sugary marinara sauce. The service was excellent, and the ambience was fine, nothing special. We did like that they had fireplaces as it was cold the evening we went. We will definitely go back again and try some of the other dishes on the menu. Most dishes were between $16 and $25. I would definitely recommend this restaurant, though I can’t give it five stars in every category.
Excellent food and service. Small family run place. Made us feel like part of the family. Can’t wait to return.
SUCH fab food and Enriq was soooooo wonderful! Would totally go back! Table a little small and a bit dated ambience but the FOOD was worth it!
The wait staff are so welcoming and attentive. Lasagna had too much garlic salt. Or it had been baked a tad too long. Bruschetta and Salad were excellent! Thanks!!
Sorrento’s was wonderful!!
Very friendly and family feel restaurant. Everything great. Food delicious. Great prices.
Excellent service the shrimp app, flounder entree, pasta entrees were absolutely delicious! Delicious and reasonably priced wine list. Highly recommended! A neighborhood gem.
outstanding service, the apps were delicious, freshest Shrimp and mussels, delicious stuffed mushrooms and bruschetta.
Outstanding entre's the veal dishes and vegie pasta dishes were absolutely delicious. very reasonable priced wine list
Highly recommended !!
There was lacking experience. The place was empty and the waiter who came over took 10 minutes to acknowledge us. He asked are you interested in the specials? It’s lamb d o you even want lamb?? Lol. The food was mediocre. I would not return even if it was free.
Mussels were fresh and delicious. Delicious homemade bread, fantastic pasta, the fish was fresh and delicious. Terrific service.
Our go to for Italian for over 25 years.
Unfortunately it was not as good as it used to be. This restaurant used to be my favorite Italian restaurant but we won’t be back.
Wonderful every time!
This restaurant was authentic southern Italian, had a friendly staff and was very reasonably priced! We’ll definitely be back!
Consistently good food - we like the decor upgrade new owner has done—neighborhood gem
One of my late father’s favorite place to eat.
The whole staff treated us well. It was a friend's birthday which I told them in advance. They treated him and all of us well. Food was great. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Excellent meal and good service. I’d love to see this restaurant locate to a better street in San Marco with an updated look. It would be perfect for San Marco Square in the now vacant Town Pump space or the vacant Beaches Diner space. But it’s fine the way it is.
Food was the best part of the overall experience.
Disappointed that they had no Red Zinfandel wine as listed on their list.
Great with out of town company.
A great place to unwind and enjoy a relaxing Italian meal! The owners are welcoming and delightful to meet. The wine selections provide a varied price range with some really good values.
Great atmosphere and impeccable service. The food was not as good as we remembered (husband’s chicken parm was nothing to write home about and my veal francese was very salty). The tiramisu was delicious and we really enjoyed sitting by the fireplace. Will give them another chance.
What an amazing restaurant!! We were pleasantly surprised at how much we loved the staff and food!! Can’t wait to return!!
All pasta dishes were horrible with soft over cooked pasta spaghetti with clams dry and no sauce
Soups were so salty there were not eatable.
Asked for steamed broccoli and it came sautéed
Manager came over and said this is the way we make it
So if they don’t cater to their customers then there is no eating flexibility
Wonderful birthday meal for our son. Enjoyed the fettuccine alfredo, lasagna, chicken francaise and cannelloni. Relaxing meal, great wait staff and will definitely visit again. A+
We went here for Valentine’s Day and least to say the location was very much not where you expect it but we knew it was family owned. Upon entering we were greeted with smiles and great service. As far as the food goes great variety but the flavor was lacking to some degree that even Olive Garden would be a competitor. Just wasn’t worth the price. There are some improvements to the ambience that need to be done such as degrading tile ceiling and updating the uncomfortable seats. I understand it’s trying times but a little reinvestment into that location and their chef would go a long way. Wouldn’t mind trying again but for now I’ll wait.
Great food! We ordered the special - steak was cooked perfectly and the lobster sauce was delicious. Was a great pick for Valentines Day (that didn’t break the bank;).
Service was okay, food was awful, chicken francese was not good, salads were kind of a joke
Great food, great service and a great time. Always good.
A classic Italian restaurant. many small dining rooms. fireplace in the middle. Good food! I will be back. Just a great place for dinner!
Great Italian food with great service and efficiency.
Another very good meal from Sorrento’s. They’ve recently updated the interior decor to make it a bit lighter, very nice. My I only complaint would be the side salad that came with the meal. Just lettuce and a few carrot slivers. Some tomatoes, radishes, peppers, etc. most anything, would have made it more appetizing .
I live a low carb lifestyle, so if I am going to choose to eat carbs, they had better be worth it, and Sorrento is very much worth it! The timing of the meal is always perfect for lingering over dinner with a glass or two of wine; nothing hurried about this dining experience. The waitstaff are all wonderful, although we seem to get Tana and Lena more than anyone else, so I guess they may be our favorites. :-) The garlic knots are heaven on a plate, served with butter and olive oil for dipping. I always struggle whether to get the linguine Alfredo or the aglio e olio as my side pasta because they are both so good, and I usually get one of their fish preparations. Valentine's Day is coming up and guess where my sweetheart and I will be dining? Sorrento!
We chose Sorrento for a Christmas Eve Dinner after picking up my Son from the airport. The food , wine and service were excellent. Will definitely go back next time we visit Jacksonville.
I've been a patron of Sorrento restaurant well over 20yrs. It's been my absolute favorite Italian restaurant in Jax. I understand that recently the restaurant has been sold, or another chef is cooking. Which ever one, unfortunately it is just not the same. Service is always good. I miss one of my favorite dishes which is no longer on the menu. It was a fresh fish dish, with vegetables. Very lite, simple dish but very delicious. Also the salad house dressing has changed, which was also delicious, the new dressing is good, but why change something that was already good.
The service was great, but I had a meatball that I literally couldn't cut because of toughness and my wife had a soup and salad that she didn't want to finish
New owner, new chef. Sauce is almost inedible. Dark, acidic, almost sweet. Not a true Italian sauce. And that’s where any good Italian restaurant starts. Sad. A history for 34 years of great food-gone. Same pleasant wait staff but they have to hear the displeasure of diners. Sad.
