It was very noisy, especially being seated right next to the bar. They didn’t do anything for the birthday celebration we noted when booking this reservation. The food was not as good as we expected it to be - very fishy tasting.

We spent close to $900 that night on food and sake for a party of 3. Both presentation and taste were good, food was fresh, but service was EXCRUTIATINGLY slow. Our server was wonderful and she did her best despite the kitchen and sushi chefs being seriously off their game. Our server had to keep going back to ask if our dishes were ready, as we had hung onto the menu and kept ordering additional dishes "tapas style" throughout the meal. If you decide to dine here, then I would recommend you order everything at once. Otherwise, you'll be sitting with no food for a good 10-20 minutes at a time between dishes- even though our ordering had been consistent throughout our meal (i.e., we didn't wait to finish the food on the table before ordering more). Fish and wagyu slices for both sushi and sashimi plates were almost see-through thin and didn't warrant the huge price tags. Oyster shooter served in a wine glass wasn't very special aside from the presentation. Fish to rice ratio for nigiri was perfect, although whoever made the rolls needs to ease up on the vice-like grip because the rice shouldn't be compacted into a solid paste. Nice, trendy ambiance. Restroom cleanliness could use improvement. I was a bit disappointed with this visit, but I'm willing to give it another try the next time I'm in Houston. Hopefully, I'll have a much improved experience or I can just stick with Uchi 2 minutes down the street.

Overall very fresh sushi and top-notch entrees other than a bit too much salt on the wild mushroom risotto and soy sauce on some of the sushi. Great variety of fish, especially the selection on the Japan Express menu that you seldom find in other restaurants. Very professional and attentive service.

Very loud . The app will give you an option for a private room…there’s none. The risotto and the Uni pasta is flavorful. I ordered from the Japanese Express menu, not worth it- the fish is nothing extraordinary. Portions are small for the price. Service is great though.

The Nigiri and rolls were excellent. Rolls were creative and flavorful, not typical rolls. It is not an inexpensive restaurant, but i believe well worth it.

My first time dining at Soto-Houston and was with a business colleague from out of town. Wa able to get a reservation last minute and arrived during "Happy Hour". The food and the service were outstanding and I will be back when I am craving sushi!

Soto AC is not working and the outside degree was 103. We were sweating during the whole meal and have to use menu to fan.I hope they should have call the guests to let them know the AC situation first. We can always come back another time instead.

As always, the food quality was very high. We went early to take advantage of the HappyHour menu and in particular really enjoyed the mini sushi tacos. My daughter always orders a spicy salmon roll and it was delicious as usual. We also ordered gyoza, brussell sprouts, the sticky sushi rice dish and some salmon sashimi. We ended our meal with the green tea tiramisu which has become one of our favorite desserts in all of Houston!

We are foodies and over time have explored many different top Sushi restaurants around the country. While we have had excellent Sushi experiences, there’s nothing that compares to Soto from a culinary experience. Their top of the line menu is absolutely out of this world. You just need to know what to order. Even the basic dishes are far above the rest. It is such a wonderful thing to have the pleasure to experience this level of culinary excellence.

It’s probably just me, but my expectations were so high walking in. The hostess was great and my service started out wonderful then we had to beg again and again for items - some as simple as soy sauce. It didn’t arrive until after we ate many things even though we asked three times. The young man delivering most of the food was great but it appeared because there were only two of us - we were discounted. Most of the food was amazing. Friendliness was about a 2 on a 1-10 scale. Valet was 20. Our meal was 340 with tip and our light didn’t work on the table. LOL. Moreover - I hate begging for service or more water - basic things. At one point I asked to see the manager for the soy but was told he/she was busy in the private area…. Pardon me. LOL. Nonetheless, thank you for allowing us to share our experience. John
