Love coming to sportello, great flavors and ingredients but this time did not live up to what we would expect from sportello. We have ordered the gnocchi dish here a few times before, but this time it barely had any lobster or mushrooms so this was very disappointing. The tomato tart was supposed to come with black truffles, there was no truffles on this dish.
The look of the place was nothing special but tasty food and good cocktails. Got the meat platter, yummy; 36 dollars is a bit steep though. Would go back.
Need to invest in ambience to justify the prices .

Steak was overcooked and cold and food was served with 5 or 10 mins between first and last item.

The gnocchi was absolutely remarkable, and the tagliatelle was incredible. The homemade focaccia was amazing. Our server, Tommy, was extremely knowledgeable of all the menu items.
Extraordinary spaghetti and salad. Micro portions and small drinks made us feel a bit short on the end: $140 for two people's entrees, a salad, and two drinks just wasn't worth it.

I made a reservation for my buddy’s bday. They didn’t make it special or do anything for the occasion, which is disappointing. The service wasn’t great and it was pretty loud outside. Otherwise, the food was amazing.
Very authentic Italian food experience. Homemade pastas, fresh ingredients, incredible recipes paired with excellent wine.

Good wine and salumi, but the entrees were frankly underwhelming. If you do go, the pasta dishes are probably your best bet. The dining space is somewhat uninspired, even at the lower price range it comes at. Somewhat disappointing experience from one of the most significant chefs in Boston.

The food was amazing as was the service. The only issue I had was that I thought our reservation was for an outdoor table but there was not one available when we arrived. This could be an issue. with OpenTable, though. The pasta with the braised rabbit is incredible!
We got cocktails fairly promptly however it took our waitress 35 minutes to take our order. We ordered focaccia which was dense and not well executed. The fig salad was just ok. My husband had gnocchi with lobster which was beautifully done, light and yummy. However my caramelle pasta was heavy and the pancetta wasn’t properly rendered and the dish was too salty. Dessert didn’t happen as the coconut are we wanted had finished. The entire experience was extremely underwhelming!
Food, drinks and service continue at a high level despite working under difficult circumstances and restrictions. Staff are upbeat and do a fantastic job at making the dining experience a pleasant one.
We had high expectations of Sportello, we heard many good things especially about the good food. Unfortunately we were disappointed by the food. The chicken marsala was below par and so was the tomato soup.
Service, drinks and ambiente were all fine and are certainly not the reason for the poor rating.

Condition of tables for outside dining was poor. Pricing for food served is a disgrace. Chicken marsala ordered had no mushrooms????? until requested and then sauce presented was disgraceful-watery and made with pre-dried mushrooms. For the cost, the steak was a disgrace-paper thin and definitely not what was expected. Best part of meal was the focaccia bread. Overall the meal was definitely not worth the money. If I did not have a gift certificate, I would have not paid for the meal. Will not return or attend another restaurant affiliated with this group.
They’ve done a great job adapting to the current challenge and created a nice outdoor space. Service was terrific - well informed waiter who made excellent food and wine recommendations. Delicious food! The bread can’t be missed!!!

This was the 1st time I ate at the outdoor patio. the weather was perfect and it was later in the evening so thee wasn't much traffic.
The staff are doing a brilliant job at providing service since they have to go up and down the stairs multiple times to bring the food and drinks to the patio tables.
The food continues to be tasty and perfect for the summer palate.
Be sure to make a reservation as there are a limited number of tables.
The food was extremely salty and presentation was lacking. I ordered the Braised rabbit while my friend ordered the Chicken picata. Hers was so salty, she could barely eat it. Portions were small and they don’t have bread (we ended up ordering the focascia bread which is the only good thing we had). Did not seem like an Italian place at all with their smaller portions, lack of flavor, and no bread?!
I never mind paying a lot for good food but quality of food did not justify the cost. Would not recommend.
Absolutely delicious food and drinks, which is what matters most. The burrata salad, gnocchi, and tagliatelle was outstanding. I love the inside of Sportello and wanted to try the outdoor area because of COVID - I and was a little disappointed in the ambiance, I think some flowers and lights would make a huge difference out there!
We decided to try Sportello based on the reputation of the Barbara Lynch group and their excellent COVID safety protocols. The apps were outstanding and my husband loved the rabbit dish. After reading multiple reviews about the outstanding tagliatelle Bolognese, I decided on that. Unfortunately, I can’t agree with the reviews. It wasn’t hot, the pasta was overcooked and it was more soupy than I prefer. The cappuccino was burned and the coconut cake was dry.
The atmosphere is sterile. It’s a good stop but definitely not for a special occasion.
The wait staff was great and the cleanliness and rule following deserve respect.
Sat outside on the street as requested. Some of the chairs were filthy. It would have been easy to spray them down to get the visible dirt off. Who wants to dress up nice for dinner and sit in a filthy chair? Asked for what type of water we wanted by 2 different ppl. Next, we placed drink orders. Initially, we were told that if we didn't like the drink options on the menu, we had the option to order drinks from their sister establishment "Drink" next door. With that in mind, one person in our party asked for an Aperol Spritz. They said they didn't have Aperol but would make it taste similar. It didn't. (So, Drink doesn't carry Aperol, really???) What they served in place of it had a medical taste. One of the house cocktails on the menu also had a medicinal taste. Two of us got the "Chicken Marsala." The Chicken Marsala had zero taste of Marsala wine and the overall preparation had absolutely no resemblance, both visually and in taste, to traditional Chicken Marsala in any way. Would definitely expect better from this restaurant group. Severely disappointed in the "Chicken Marsala." Someone else in our group had the Gnocchi with Lobster and said it was fine. If I ever went back, I'd probably get pasta. We shared Tiramisu for dessert. It tasted fine. Tiramisu came in a bowl. It filled half of the bowl in height and filled the circumference of the bowl. It had a more dense cake-like texture than a traditional Tiramisu. Service was OK overall.
