Great place to get bao chicken and dumplings!! This Is your place to get taiwanese style food and great beverages !!!
The menu is somewhat limited and the ingredients in the dishes not really included. It probably takes a visit or two to figure out what to order. I'm a fish person so wasn't great for me. My son loves dumplings so it worked for him.
Great place, no wait when I came in. And very good happy hour deals.
A very nice little place competing for business in the crowded Kearny Mesa restaurant area, and they've come up with a very unique way of attracting business. The name alone makes you want to visit, but when you do, you will not be disappointed. The food is delicious. All of it. We had the Bao trio appetizer and the Rainbow dumplings. All of it was excellent. For the main course, my wife had the ramen, and I had the bulgogi bowl - again excellent choices. The ramen was unique but also traditional with a good familiar flavor, but the broth was creamy and the pork belly was quite succulent. The bulgogi was excellent with a very nice mild flavor (and many are just way too sweet). Service was excellent.
Went in the early evening for dinner with my siblings. The staff was attentive and courteous. I eat a vegetarian diet and they were able to inform me of the vegetarian items available. I had the curry with rice and a scallion pancake. My brother had the beef chow mein and my sister had the ramen. They both smelled amazing. My brother finished his plate, and ours. They also had a variety of non-alcoholic beverages available and a nice happy hour menu.
Went here for my birthday with 10 co-workers for lunch. Honestly thought it would take forever to get food out for such a large party, but food started coming out within 10 minutes after being seated. The food was really good! The patio was nice. The service was great. Would definitely recommend this place to friends and family
The dumplings and Bao are all excellent. Everything tastes freshly made and is delicious! I’m definitely coming back.
Food & service was awesome! Nice hip touches throughout. Parking is another story. Pack your patience or prepare to walk.
Casual dining in a relaxed atmosphere. Entrees and sides were fresh and tasty. Depending on timing parking can be a little tricky, so be prepared.
Love the place! Great food and service.
Food was GOOD! Dumplings were large. Service was kind of scattered and they forgot part of my order but I was so full by then it didnt matter.
Would go again.
If you're looking for a relaxing Chinese fusion restaurant with with aesthetic atmosphere this place is a must! The staff is incredible and super attentive, Nick, Lauren, Anthony and Jacky were amazing and made me feel welcome. Steamy Piggy is a great way to expand your pallet and not break your piggy bank!
The food was delicious and not super expensive, very nice atmosphere!
Came in Friday night. First time trying the Dan Dan noodles. Not a fan, haven’t tried the other dishes. But so far spicy wontons are by far my favorite!
I was so excited to try this place. The menu looks delicious. But everything was just average. There was hardly any soup in the soup dumplings. The beer and "cold" sake were warm. There are too many excellent restaurants in the area to waste time on this one again.
Everybody has different taste, they might like it, but us that will be the last time we will eat there.
So delicious! The dumplings - especially the rainbow sampler, were scrumptious!!! Service was attentive and just the right level of checking in. Our water glasses stayed full. Sesame balls were a hit and the sweet bean buns were also great!
Went back for a second day in a row. Excellent tonkatsu and dumplings
Their food is more creative than traditional. The pork belly is way too sweet for my taste. The rainbow dumplings are interesting.
Loved everything we had... bulgogi bao, spicy wontons, scallion pancakes, soup dumplings, sesame balls. Waiter was excellent!!!
Honestly the best ramen I’ve ever had. The dumplings were great too. Definitely would go back.
Overall very good the only thing is that the food selection for Happy Hour very limited choices. Loved their patience to have us visit each other. There was not many customers, so had slot of time to catch up without worrying about giving up seats.
Had been looking forward to eat here as their Instagram looked delicious... Unfortunately the food was extremely subpar and the service was atrocious. After serving me a bill prior to two of our entrees, we were left with an even worse taste in our mouths than from the “baos” and “dumplings.” Will NOT return. Din Tai Fung for LIFE!
Great options. Server was very helpful with recommendations
great dumplings. the bao I felt was overpowering the fillings. Braised pork was kind of nasty tasting sadly.
We loved the atmosphere at Steamy Piggy along with everything else! Staff was friendly and helpful. Everything was delicious and aesthetically pleasing. I would recommend to a friend and go back myself!
Such great food, not the best service
The waitress forgot my boyfriends order. It didn’t even occur to her that he has no food and never bothered to check. She didn’t even apologize! Very unprofessional and would not return to this establishment. The restaurant was not even busy at all!
Food was quite disappointing. Orders came messed up and some came much later than others. Service was sub-par. They gave us 2 dishes for dipping sauces when there were 5 of us. When we asked for more, they gave us little plastic to go sauce containers . Water came halfway through the meal and had to be asked for twice. The place was not even busy and the service and quality of food is just not worth it.
Service super slow, took 40 minutes to get 2 plates of dumplings out.
Loved it. The staff granted us my request for outside seating but they had the larger tables outside anyway. It was a better pick for my family too, since the ambience was more elegant outside. The interior looked a little like a teenager's boba hangout and i was with my elderly parents. Unfortunately, they got a little chilled later that day lol. Parking's a little tough on a saturday as well, but my reservation was at 6pm so it was not too crazy yet and we lucked out on a spot just in front. food was great. I ordered pork belly for my entree and it came with rice, egg and an orchid and was very tasty. My father who is a great cook, was quite impressed since he ordered the same. Unfortunately, my mother was disappointed with her entree since the wonton soup was just that- siomao with soup. She was sad to note there was no noodle at all. But i had ordered alot of sides so she was ok. Our bill totaled $130 and for 6 people with 1 entree each, appetizers, 1 cocktail, 1 importeed beer, bao bao and dumplings, my brothers thought it wasnt too bad. :)
Waited forever to order, in an empty restaurant. They forgot to bring us water, then forgot our drink three times. Appetizers were brought out after the entrees, which were brought out 10 minutes apart and were room temperature. The food was below average in taste and presentation.
Late night happy hour was great. Quaint setting and delicious food. Order the rainbow dumplings first, you can order the individual flavors separately. Dan Dan was tasty and rich. Not THAT spicy. The Thai Bao was the winner
Loved it! Food was great and at a great price. Cute atmosphere and great service.
