The hostess was not welcoming but instead grumpy, sleepy, disinterested in being there. There was no one in the restaurant because of the coronavirus. In fact, I believe Stella was suppose to be closed like many other restaurants were, but was open. We asked to be seating outside, but the hostess needed to check. Not sure why, since no one was there anyway and it was a beautiful day. Someone more energetic, mature and friendly should be managing guests when they arrive.
We've been wanting to try Stella for a while but waited until more established due to poor reviews from friends who've been. It was no different than what I've heard when it first opened. The menu is odd. The food is bland. Service was OK. I've had better and worse. We had the dip trio. Nothing about them was distinguishable but for the overly smokey one. The other two were virtually tasteless. I don't eat meat so there is little to pick from on the menu other than a few unappealing things like spaghetti pie. I ended up with two average salads for dinner. My husband had a salad and flank steak that was also mediocre at best. Overall nothing was flavorful. The place seems devoid of garlic and spices. It was very disappointing. Went to McDonalds for Shamrock shakes after to try & redeem the evening but the machine was down, as always.
Fabulous meal! Another winner from Chef Jose Garces. The bartenders are magicians turning out amazing cocktails. The duck pâté was incredible and the trout special was probably the best trout dish that I've ever had. Even the beet salad was special. An amazing combination of flavors. Highly recommended!
After a delightful brunch at Stella last November, we returned last Sunday for a special birthday celebration to a much different and far less desirable experience. Although the food served was excellent as before, the brunch selections had shrunken in quantity and were not refilled consistently. In particular, there was only one carving selection and the dessert table was practically barren. However, it was the abysmal service that ultimately ruined the meal. By their own admission, only two servers were available to cover more than one hundred guests including several large parties which resulted in numerous delays for basic items such as replenishing beverages and silverware, clearing tables, and settling the bill. This simply is unacceptable given the extravagant $40 cost of the brunch per head.
Can’t wait to go back
Stella is an absolutely beautiful restaurant with gorgeous views. Food is good. Service is very good. Wish there was a change to the menu from time to time. We’d come much more often if there were different options.
It was great.
Food was delicious. Kevin our Server was phenomenal and perfect in every way. Will definitely be back.
Had fun with the Bloody Mary bar.
Worth trying. Great service and view. Beautiful restaurant okay food for brunch. Very salty.
Only buffet brunch we have been to with a raw bar that includes jumbo shrimp, oysters, and crab claws! Gorgeous display and tons of choices. Do-it-yourself Bloody Mary and Mimosa bar with all the toppings you could hope for. Several choices of omelettes available, breakfast tacos, Benedict's...all made-to-order order and included as well. We will definitely be back!
So fun. Great food - great tasting chefs choice menu.
Noisy but the food was outrageous
Wait staff was awesome, especially our waitress.
Food was terrible and the price was high. Really too bad because the venue is just perfect. My recommendation? Drinks only.
My husband and I went to Stella for a date night. The atmosphere, staff, and food were all fantastic. Our waitress was amazing. We told her what kind of cocktails we enjoyed and she steered us in the right direction. We chose the chef selection, and every dish was great. In my opinion, Stella is the best restaurant in New Hope. I can not wait to go back.
They hurried us out of there. Was it because one of us was using a walker?
Note. The restaurant has a shred plates menu.
We loved the decor, the staff and the location on the river, but we did feel the bar pricing a bit high. We had two specialty drinks, a gin & tonic and a glass of wine and it cost us $60. Seemed a bit much.
Some of the dishes were great like burrata , fried rice, and the risotto scallop . Others were Meh! For the amount spent to value of the meal , meh. I would suggest appetizer and drink .
Hi, Thank you for sharing your feedback, we are glad you enjoyed the burrata, fried rice and the scallops. We appreciate your constructive criticism and hope you will give us another opportunity to provide a five star experience in the future!
Exciting, inventive new dining and overnight spot on the river. Put some cloth on the tables, maybe rugs on the floors and tapestry on walls to help noise control; and swing some deal with the Playhouse to reduce onerous $20 parking fee.
Excellent... that’s why we keep coming back!
Already have recommended to a friend. Staff, professional, well trained and fun. A little pricy for a routine drop in place. Food excellent. Ambience lovely. Will be back
We have been to Jose Garces restaurant in New York and loved it. This one was even better. The flavors were so outstanding. We shared spaghetti pie as an appetizer, it was unbelievably delicious. They have a good selection of wines, the food is so flavorful, the ambiance was very modern yet comfortable and the wait staff was very friendly. Highly recommend and we would go again.
I have been so anxious to try out Stella as I live in New Hope and I have dined at Amada, Chefa and other Jose Garces restaurants and was excited for this one in New Hope. The location is ideal and the room is lovely and the service was spot on but the food was heavy and disappointing. The mushroom toast arrive cold and the asparagus was also cold and heavy. We also had the spare ribs and spaghetti pie which was bland. I am hopefully they will sort things out. Who is actually cooking here it can't be Garces.
My family and I went for Sunday Brunch and it was am amazing meal. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and very warm and inviting. I give this a 10 stars! We will most defininately be back soon.
The ambiance and food were exceptional. go!!!
Hi Brandon, Thank you for your review. What could we have done to make this a five star experience? Any additional feedback you can provide would be extremely helpful!
My Husband & I came here for Valentines Day. Was absolutely amazing ❤️
Food was terrible. Underseasoned, bland. Service was average. Tanya was a big help.
Stella is a nice suburban restaurant experience. The scallops were perhaps the best item on the menu next to the rye pappardelle.
Hi Moose, Thank you for your review, we are so glad you enjoyed the scallops and rye pappardelle. It sounds like you had a lovely time. What could we have done to make this a five star experience? We value your feedback!
The restaurant is very nice, all staff are friendly. The food was good, ambience very good. The downside is parking! It is very costly and although there are metered areas, they are all consumed by the restaurant.
Hi, Thank you for your review. During normal business hours, guests can park using metered street parking or Bucks County Playhouse’s valet parking. Every dollar spent on valet parking supports the non-profit mission of the BCP. During show times at BCP, guests can ride the trolley from the New Hope-Solebury High School into town for free. When possible, we encourage visitors to walk or use ride sharing services. We hope to see you again soon!
Was ok... hard benches, felt like a bar, expensive for what you get...
Hi, Thank you for sharing your feedback. We appreciate your constructive criticism and hope you will give us another opportunity to provide a five star experience in the future!
Best time in a long time as a dining experience. Only bleep we had was a few minutes too long for our cocktails, everything else was amazing! Big Garces fans, loved it!
Food was great and what you would expect from a Jose Garces. Beautiful restaurant. But unfortunately service was horrendous during our Sunday brunch reservation. We were seated and shortly offered beverages. Our Waiter encouraged us to visit the buffet and said he would return to take our egg orders from the kitchen. He returned 20 minutes later to take our orders. I waited another 30 minutes for a coffee refill. Our waiter was nowhere to be seen. Finally I asked a server for a coffee refill. Very disappointing service for a pricey buffet.
Hi Sarah, Thank you for sharing your feedback, we are glad you enjoyed the food and atmosphere. We appreciate your constructive criticism and hope you will give us another opportunity to provide a five star experience in the future!
We’ve been to Stella for dinner and have always enjoyed the dining. The outside deck is a great experience in the nice weather. We finally made it in for Sunday brunch It was top notch. You order off the menu and the buffet has a huge variety to choose from. Fun mimosa and Bloody Mary bar too!
Excellent Service! Our server, Jace, was very attentive, friendly, and helpful with the menu. Best service we have had locally in a long time!

Another phenomenal meal, superb cocktails and wonderful service. The tasting menu is the bomb-diggidy!
