Sugar Factory - Pentagon Mall
We were seated very quickly and the host was awesome. There were 3 very large parties in the restaurant as well as a few other smaller patrons eating. It took quite awhile to be greeted and give drink orders. We also ordered an appetizer. It took at least 10 minutes to get our drinks and another 15 minutes for her to come and take our order. By this time we realized we didn’t want to eat here. We had already ordered an appetizer, when we ordered our drinks, so we had to wait for that. We told her we were just going to get the appetizer. It took another 20-30 min to get the appetizer. Other tables had not gotten their food yet that were seated before us! Also, they play incredibly loud music when there are birthdays and there were 3 in this time span!!! The macaroni and cheese pops were very average and cost $14. Our waitress never came back to give us refills or give us our bill. I had to walk up to some random server and ask if they could find it... which they did. I was a server for over 5 years so I am pretty patient but this was just bad service and below average food. Super disappointed because my kids were really looking forward to it.
Very loud. Out of a lot of items
We went to celebrate my daughter’s bday and we were pleased with everything.
We were so disappointed in this dining experience. This is the first time I’ve written a negative review. We had booked this for our sons birthday celebration. It took 45 minutes to get our alcoholic drinks and just over 35 minutes for our son to get his lemonade. Food came out at the same time our drinks came. My son said his burger was cold. The waiter literally came to our table a total of 3 times. The food was ridiculously over priced and mediocre at best. We asked for our check and that took another 25 minutes. So disappointed, I felt like this really ruined my sons birthday evening. Would never recommend or go back.
Waited a whole damn hr to be seated and my drink wasn’t all that
Had a 7:30 pm reservation - didn't get seated until close to 8:00 pm. We ordered our meals and a milkshake. The milkshake came out in about 15-20 mins (hubby got just a strawberry shake, but it was amazing), however the food took close to an hr. The waiter continually told us it was coming but it was no where in sight. People who were seated after us were receiving their meals. We finally asked the waiter to just cancel the order. She promised it was coming and got the manager to address the issue. Our food finally arrived. We didn't order anything fancy - a club sandwich and a grilled chicken sandwich, they both could have been easily made in 10 mins, yet immediately after we got ours, the table next to us food arrived and they got seated there about 45 mins after us. The chicken sandwich was missing toppings called out in the menu description and it was poorly put together. The fries, although warm, were semi mushy. In the end, the manager comped half of our meal. Needless to say, I highly doubt that I'll visit again - I was definitely underwhelmed
Terrible. Overpriced nasty food. Noise/music level was deafening. Service was non existent. Water glasses never got refilled. Iced tea was ordered, but not received until asking 3 times. Food took forever to get us.
Overall, the food and customer service was good. My advice is to be prepared to spend money.
Food and drinks were great, and staff was friendly! However, the service was lacking. I would understand it if they were busy at the time we went, but it was around 2pm and no one else was in the restaurant at all besides me and the people I was with which was only a total of 5 people. They were late bringing our food out and forgot to take everyone's order, and forgot to bring the milkshakes we ordered out till the end. We were there for almost 3 hours when it should have been more like 1 and half to 2. Also it seems like they had a leak on the floor with no wet floor sign on the dining area, unless someone spilled water and it wasn't cleaned up. Over all I would say I was highly disappointed and would rate it a 3 out of 5.
It’s was an ok experience . Over priced and average food. Went for brunch and the breakfast foods were average. Could have gone to IHOP and had the same breakfast. However their drink menu was great with a good variety as well as their candy wall.
The overall atmosphere was decent. They did celebrate a birthday dinner with a much different happy birthday song which always caught the people’s attention. Great surprise.
Amazing experience, great service, great food, very fun drinks and dessert. I will definitely be returning.
This is not worth it. Food is overpriced and the music was so loud everyone in the restaurant had their hands over their ears. I ordered a burger and it was over cooked. Drinks were good but would not go back. Too bad because it looked better than it was.
Our first time and 10 seconds from opening the door my daughter, and son got screamed at for getting close to the candy jars. But in addition to extremely bad service.. what is this place promoting? ?,how to be in your worst behavior?, seeing clients and waiters underwear? Dirty sticky floors and table. Just thinking about makes me want to puke. This will be my exact words if someone asks me about this place. Good luck.
The service was great and the food came to us at a great time.I truly would recommend this place
The servers were very friendly and live when helping us celebrate my friends birthday & everyone else’s !
The service was excellent as well as the drinks. The food was ok, thought it would be better but overall, nice place!
I had an AMAZING time!!! My friends had a great time too, and the Supa Big Dessert Bowl thingee was INCREDIBLE!!! It truly was a birthday to remember...thank you guys!
Took my 8 year old out for a family birthday dinner. The servers were kind, but inept. I thought the food was tasty although very overpriced. My kiddo loved his goblet drink and over the top milkshake. I’m glad he had a nice experience but I wouldn’t go back.
The service was great. Waitress was very friendly. The food was very very salty; both items that were ordered -Brick Chicken and Chicken Alfredo. It was saltly to the point where we could not finish our meals. I thought it was only my meal but when Tasted the other, they were both salty. I had high expectations going to the Sugar Factory but was very disappointed with the food. The dessert was good. I was visiting VA from NY.
First of all, the hosts at the front don’t greet you with a smile, they seemed rude. I work as a host myself at a restaurant & as a host, you always greet your guests with a friendly smile. I didn’t feel welcomed after that so 1 star for that. Second, once my party & I were already settled in & eating our entrees, not once did our server come back to check on us. We felt forgotten about. 1 star for service. The food was pricey for being average as well. I expected a lot of more for the price I was paying. Lastly, it is way too loud to even enjoy eating there. It was about 5 or more different parties celebrating birthdays & for each one, music was way too loud & the employees came out yelling. If you want to just go out with your family & friends to enjoy some food with a nice, enjoyable environment, then do NOT come to the Sugar Factory at the Pentagon Mall. After leaving, I apologized to my boyfriend for bringing him here. It was supposed to be a pre-celebratory dinner for his birthday & I could tell he didn’t enjoy it that much.
My waitress was not attentive to my tables needs, food came out incomplete, cold and wrong. We received our food before our drinks and they was very slow. But even though I had a bad experience, hopefully they improve and I will return.
It was a bad experience. Made my reservation a week in advance, but didn’t even get to eat there. After being ignored for about 30mins they told us they didn’t know if they had a table available for us. Which I heard by another server that they had given our table to another group of girls. This was a horrible experience but if you are good looking they will make sure to pay attention to you and give someone else’s table to you. Last time I ever try going there.
We had a reservation but it still took 30 mins to be seated.
They gave my table up 3 times even though I had a reservation. They say I brought in a cake from place and never told me that they charge a cake fee I would have easily kept it in the car. They need to work on their communication because the service was terrible
The wings were good, but the chicken and waffles weren’t that great. The milkshake I ordered I ok. I guess I expected more.
Not for a date if you are older like me
But it's a great place for teenagers and kids party
Our server Michael was excellent. The food was horrible we went for my daughter‘s birthday her food didn’t come out till after everyone else was eating. I had to go to the whole stand to ask for a manager when he showed me who the manager was she act as if she didn’t want to talk to me at all Her facial expression just sent it all . I could say a million things that was wrong with this restaurant but overall our experience was horrible and the atmosphere was not fitting for the price of the food
The girl at the front that seated us when we came in was very unfriendly but the waitress was very nice and patient as we browsed the extensive menu and made great recommendations. She made up for the less than favorable beginning we had in our dining experience. I feel like a restaurant that's so nice and expects patrons to pay quite a bit for their food, drinks, and ambiance should have friendlier staff. I had been one time before and the vibe was so much fun, very positive and I was expecting the same this time so I brought my friend and we weren't greeted in the best manner. After everything else went well, that first interaction still lingers.
It was my daughters birthday. Our server wasn’t that great but the food made up for it
Worst experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant. The worst part is- this isn’t the first time I’ve experienced extremely poor customer service here. This place is going downhill fast. They had open tables and no line and proceeded to tell me and my guest that they have no room for us and ate accepting no more walk ins. Then they told me unless we have a reservation we couldn’t be seated. So I stood there at the counter and opened the app and selected a reservation for 5 min later. Then I proceeded to tell the waiter I had a reservation. He went to grab a manager and she said their system doesn’t update until later on. This is the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. They ended up seating us but NONE of that was necessary.
Ill be returning. I was super excited I was able to come for my birthday.
Would’ve been better if there wasn’t a 40 person party that took up most of the restaurant. I will try again during the week not on a Saturday. Grease needed to be changed my fried food taste like fish, happy I didn’t have an allergy. My veggie burger came out wrong and messy not pleasing to the eye sent it back. I ended up getting and appetizers platter and only ate the wings. The hostess and server was great can’t complain about customer service.
Our experience at sugar factory was okay. I normally go to the Sugar Factory, back home in New York City on a regular basis. So I was hoping to have a great experience just like when I go home. I enjoyed myself, but there was a few hick ups that I wish did not happen.
Service is very slow ..we were the second table in the restaurant and still they could not deliver!
The one in DC is much better
Was there for a birthday party which was none. Didn’t receive the music request list for a long period of time. Placed are orders and specific ranch and honey mustard, food came out cold and no ranch or honey mustard. Asked waitress along with other servers for the ranch/ honey mustard finally received. Tried telling waitress several times about the dessert for the birthday along with the song it finally came to us wanting to cancel them from signing they finally did something. Received the wrong bill, 1st bill 180$ then received 2nd bill 202.98$ ask for itemized bill couldn’t get 1 asked for manager was told the manager wasn’t there he went to the store. Several other tables were also complaining about service and food. This wasn’t the 1st time @ this location with bad service and food. Will not
go back especially traveling over an hour
I had a blast celebrating my birthday at Sugar Factory, I ordered the sampler with onion rings, buffalo wings, tenders, and Mac & cheese balls. The tenders were small and dry, but everything else was amazing. I also had the lollipop passion drink which was magnificent. I made my reservation two days before, and didn’t wait long at all to be seated.
I have been to surge factory in nyc. And this building is beautiful and the location is amazing. However, that’s where it stops. We all had the fried chicken and waffles. I asked for two wings and got two drum sticks instead. The breading really wasn’t that great. It’s not typical southern fried chicken. The waffle was cold. Disappointing.
There were tons of empty tables and our wait was still 20-30 minutes even though we had a reservation. They refused to allow us to hold our children. They were forced to sit in high chairs, even though they weren't big enough. It took 2 hours between the time we walked in the restaurant and the time we received our milkshakes. Our food never came even though they kept promising it was on the way. We eventually had to just leave without ever getting to eat. The atmosphere seems cool at first, but then for birthdays they turn the music up so loud it hurts. Our children were literally crying it was hurting their ears so bad. It didn't even sound good because their speakers were crackling and giving out. The lights also kept being turned on and off.
I was very excited to visit the Sugar Factory because, I heard so many wonderful things. Sadly, I was disappointed. I had made a reservation for two, two days ahead of time for 5:00pm. I had received two confirmation emails as well as a confirmation text message. I saved them both just in case they needed proof. The day of, my friend and I got there three minutes early, I went up to the hostess and told her I had reservation for Jones at 5:00pm. She then proceeded to tell me they don’t have a reservation and asked me if I had chosen the wrong location. I showed her my confirmation message which showed the party number, time, and location. She said “We don’t have a reservation for you, you’re gonna have to wait in line.” I asked her how long it would take till we got a table and she said I don’t know then walked away; very rude. My friend and I didn’t receive a table till ten minutes later. Service was very slow and a waiter checked on us at least three times. I sadly won’t be going to this Sugar Factory again.
The food , service and atmosphere were great . The noise level was so loud inside , You could not have a conversation or hear your waiter. During birthday celebrations , which is quite often , they play the birthday persons chosen song so loud it is actually is painful and you have cover your ears. We had to move our party outside. The server was very accommodating and saved our evening. I would recommend this place if you can sit outside.
