Lobster & Shrimp
Maine lobster tail and jumbo shrimp in a white wine and garlic sauce; served with pasta and vegetables
They had no reservation for us and could not accommodate us due to a large party. We drove there for nothing. They said that they weren’t using open table at the present. Wish we had known that before we drove a half hour for no dinner.
Wonderful staff and experience. Beautiful place.
Excellent dining experience. Currently understaffed but the wait staff were on point and worked tirelessly to provide great service. Great to have two nice restaurants in Christiansburg.
Very disappointing experience.
Limited menu with “graduation week”- extensive menu items on website not available.
Charming place up on a hill but very cold inside.
Clearly understaffed with very overstretched wait staff.
Long wait for service and next course.
Staff very personable but unable to provide attentive service.
Food was average at best.
Guest of honor had send back cold undercooked steak…
A lovely little restaurant in the middle of the Blacksburg, VA area. We had a table of 6, and while service was a little slow, it was steady and the server was very good. Our meals were all very good, loved the sea bass, but my pasta dish was a little cold when it arrived. Overall, a very nice place, with an extensive and good menu, but they need to improve the speed of the delivery.
We were very, very disappointed with this place that was supposed to be a fine dining restaurant. The place was empty, we were the only customers in the dining room, and the service was the slowest I have ever experienced. One of the oysters we ordered for an appetizer was wrapped in plastic paper and we had to send it back. Waitress took forever to come back to check on us. I do not recommend this place at all. Food was acceptable but not worth the expensive prize. Menu items misspelled, terrible squeaky chairs. We were celebrating our cadet graduation and it was just very disappointing. Never going back there.
It was very pleasant on the veranda- we brought a dog who slept
We experienced an excellent dinner well prepared and greatly serviced.
The food was on point as usual! Unfortunately the service was slow because they only had one server for the whole restaurant and she was clearly overwhelmed. We can't wait to go back because the food (especially the lamb) is AMAZING, but I certainly hope they have more wait staff next time.
Waiter was overwhelmed but otherwise a good experience
Was so excited to take our son out for a great meal. Found this on Open Table because I am not familiar with the area. We walked in and were greeted by an extremely gracious young man who it turns out was host, server, and likely many more things. He was the ONLY person working the entire restaurant. Even with fewer tables due to covid restrictions, it took an enormous amount of time for him to take our order. While we sat there it gave us time to look at our surroundings. Red walls, old fixtures, very very dated. Not in the pretty victorian way, but just dated, dark and dingy. What was most disturbing was the music they chose to play created an atmosphere that can only be described as macabre. I became so uncomfortable that we left after tipping our host/server and apologizing. It was so unsettling. Have never done that before in a restaurant. I wish them luck and maybe on a sunny day it's beautiful and fun but it was disturbing to say the least.
Normally this is one of my favorite restaurants and the lamb is always on point. However, this time the service was seriously sub-par. Granted we went on New Year's Eve and they were busy, but the service was HORRIBLE. It took almost 20 minutes to get a server to acknowledge us once we were sat, we received only one drink refill during the 90 minutes we were there, all of our food was undercooked and cold, and my order was incorrect so I had to wait even longer. I'd still recommend the restaurant but I wouldn't recommend going on a holiday for when they're super busy.
We had a group of five ladies for our Christmas dinner. The house was decorated and beautiful. The wait staff was superior. The food was hot and delicious! I had a steak that was extremely tender and flavorful. I would recommend this place for any occasion.
The meal was delicious, the waitstaff friendly and attentive, and we felt very safe.
I wanted to love the Summit. The restaurant could be beautiful with a little more care. It felt a bit dirty, as did the patio. It could be especially beautiful and relaxing if the patio was upgraded slightly. The food was pretty average and the service was exceptionally slow. Our water glasses were never filled, no asking if we needed another round.
Great Staff, Excellent Food, Wonderful Time.
¡Thank You! 🙏
The food tasted good but for the price I was expecting it to be a little better. Still a great restaurant to go to for a date night. The wine was delicious and the service was excellent.
Superb dining experience. We found the Summit by chance on our 40th anniversary and returned for our 45th! Hope we don't wait 5 more years to return!!
"I love the relaxed feel of this place – liked the outside dining area. Been going there for a while and thinks it's the best cuisine in NRV.
Very pleasant dinner on outdoor patio in front of a quaint home given the pandemic. Server was very pleasant and attentive. The food was delicious with nice presentation.
These 5 star reviews must be fake. This place is absolutely disgusting. The owners should be embarrassed. The entire place needs to be cleaned and the food is bad beyond words. Everything is covered in heavy sauce to cover for the chef's incompetence. I ordered Filet Mignon medium rare and received a grizzled cut of meat that was inedible... Definitely was not Filet Mignon. It was also served well done. Our waitress was the only positive. She was very attentive and helped get us get through our horrible meal very quickly.
Our 3rd-4th time to dine at the Summit. Each time seems to better than the last. Highly recommend the Summit for any occasion. Staff very accommodating and attentive, not pesky and/or hovering. Food always cooked to perfection. We like to sit on the porch in the evening but have also been inside. So glad to have the Summit as a place for fine dining.
We sat outside in the gazebo. Service and food was great!!
Father’s Day dinner. The food and service was impeccable. Thank you.
Wonderful food! My parents and my husband and I were celebrating and the food was absolutely delicious!
Food was good but service not good and too expensive weird atmosphere
Will not be returning. Before the day of the reservation the restaurant called me to ask if I would change my reservation to accommodate other guests. I found that incredibly rude and unprofessional since I had made the reservation over 1 week in advance. When we arrived there was no organization: the hostess was explaining to guests, while her shirt was unbuttoned and tie only half on, that no one would help her and the servers only look out for themselves. Then they did not have our reservation written down so they sat us reluctantly. Upon seating was when they announced the price of a fixed course meal, which had never before been announced, publicized, etc. We felt obligated to do it because there was no other option and it was Valentines Day so no other restaurants nearby would be able to accommodate such a late reservation. Each part of the meal came out 30-40 minutes after the previous. Getting our wine took 45 minutes itself. The whole dinner took 3 hours and was average at best. My filet mignon was almost completely filled with fat, after it had very clearly been ignored in the kitchen because it came out to the table cold. We couldn’t even let our server know or ask her to cook my date’s steak more, because it was on the rare side of medium rare, due to the fact that she disappeared and did not return for 20 minutes. We would have to say the best part of the meal was the dessert but then again it seemed like it was probably prepared by the local grocery store. Overall, the service, quality of food, and lack of professionalism did not match the absurd prices they were asking. The experience they created was worth $50, not the almost $200 we spent. As previously stated, we will never be returning.
This is a very nice setting. It was a slow night, not their fault. My wife had a chicken dish that was very good. I had the filet, and I could not eat it. It was either very old, or freezer burned. We will try it once more.
Delicious shrimp cocktail. Tender flavorful steak. Best dinner rolls anywhere around. Brittany was our server and she was over the top terrific.
Had a wonderful time. Food was out of this world. Had a great conversation with another set of patrons. Just a fantastic time.
I was looking forward to this Christmas lunch but the entire time I sensed that my presence was an inconvenience to the waitress because I was just a party of one, instead of being a large party.
Excellent selection for a holiday meal. The food was outstanding!
Service was great! Everything came out quickly for the high quality of presentation and amount of work it must have taken. The food was presented beautifully, and everyone was very friendly. A truly wonderful experience.
Had a great dinner for daughter's graduation. The service, food and atmosphere made for a perfect dinner.
The fireplace made for a romantic atmosphere. I think seating could be a bit better as far as setting up a room for couples only. This way conversation is more low key coming from other tables. There are a few rooms. Our room had a table of 4 next to us and then room for a larger group. We really enjoyed the stuffed mushroom appetizer. I ordered crab cakes and my husband ordered the grouper with crab. It was tasty and the portions were generous. My only feedback would be easy on the green onions in the crab cakes. Overall a good meal.
This was a very important date I wanted to enjoy with my family. The noise was loud and the service was bad. It took us over and hour just to get our salads. During that time we had to chase down the waitress just to get our drinks refilled. Because it took so long to get our food, one of our guest had to leave before he could eat, very uncomfortable. My mom is elderly and she was very tired before we could get her home. It was not a good experience like we were expecting.
Very disappointed with this restaurant. Servers seemed overwhelmed, disorganized and confused upon arrival of our party of 4. All of our entrees arrived cold. We complained to the waitress who only provided excuses that they were short staffed that evening but did nothing to remedy the situation. Overall a poor dining experience . Overpriced as well. Will not be going back.
Pros - food was good
Cons - place is not being upkept. The lights randomly turning on and off in dining room, chairs that sink in middle and so uncomfortable that even my 18 year old complained, kitchen Leuver door falling hall off, and outside deck - old, rickety and covered in leaves - ever where people are dining. Just looks like no one cares.
Service - meh. They were short staffed. Our server was kind but a mess. She was sweating to death, and seemed totally frazzled and unable to focus because of it. We waited over an hour for salad. We got wrong wine - we ordered Cab - got Chardonnay. We had to order twice. They lost our order. Then we had wrong entrees delivered and returned and finally our ownfood after being there over 1.5 hours.
I had crab cake entree and soup. Both great
My husband and son had salad and filet
We all were sort of shocked to enjoy the food.
Seems like the chef knows what he is doing even the the rest of the place is in decline.
Very good menu range, and excellent food. Service was attentive but not obtrusive. Victorian surroundings.
Really enjoyed celebrating our birthday at The Summit. The food and presentation was Top Shelf.
We each had a different entree and all were so good. This is the only Fine Dining in our area.
