Everything was perfect but one thing, and I really dislike leaving any negatives but it literally has to be done so the owner can find out about one of his staff members.
There was an extremely rude front desk lady, we got there at 8.50 our table was at 9.15 so she told us to wait at the bar which was fine.. i came back over to her at 9.15 she had totally forgot my name and table so i had to reintroduce myself which I found rude itself considering it wasn't that busy. I was then told the table would be 15 minutes as it was getting relaid (She showed me that it was empty and messy) which once again was fine.
Following on around 20 minutes later without any reassurance or communication I went back over, she showed me the same table which still hadn't been touched, I said to her that we wanted to eat and get done pretty fast as it was late and wanted to have an early night in which she was very rude in response and told me without me promting her.. "You can speak to a manager if you want?" this was said in an extremely rude way with a lot of attitude.
Then Manager to the rescue.. he had come upstairs to get us and found out what had happened in which he totally made us feel welcome again and I couldn't fault him in the slightest. Amazing manager!
Overall a lovely experience and if it wasn't for that girl a perfect expereince, she either needs retraining on firing.
Tattu Birmingham was wonderful. The food was very nice and the staff were so polite and nice but the service was a bit slow, had to wait a while for the food.
A great long lunch at Tattu. The food was great, especially the snacks and fish main plate. The starters were a little truffle heavy. The cocktails were beautifully presented with some interesting flavours.
We had a meal at Tattu for my sisters graduation and it was fantastic! The food was amazing and we loved the setting. We will definitely be back when we are next in Birmingham. Would highly recommend opening one of these in London or Essex!
This place is not for food at all but good enough for a nice evening with your other half. Good ambience.
Best service I have ever experienced at a restaurant 👍
Great ambience, great service (from Kamila) and great food
Great friendly service and good quality food
Couldn’t find a single fault will be booking again
Regulars here and it seems to get better everyone we come
Amazing staff all very welcoming from the moment we stepped inside to the moment we left. Food was unreal and the restaurant is simply beautiful. My favourite restaurant! 10/10
From the time we arrived we had the most amazing experience, the reception staff were lovely and our server was so knowledgable about the menu. We will definitely recommend this restaurant to our friends.
We paid a visit to Tattu on Saturday night and it didn't disappoint.
I was a bit worried when I read some of the reviews about poor service etc but we had swift and attentive service. The waiting staff were extremely nice.
We had an early table booked but our train was late which meant we where late for our table. We were concerned we had missed our spot because of the strict late policy however we were able to get a table quickly. I think because we were late our service was speedy, they needed the table back and we would of liked a little more time but totally understood this as it was a packed Saturday night.
We loved the beef short ribs and prawn & lobster toast - the pork belly was give and take a bit salty for me. The curry clay pot was also delicious along with the rib eye steak.
We will definitely be returning with a larger group to enjoy the atmosphere and buzz the restaurant gives off.
Don't let other reviews put you off - try it for yourself.
Outstanding food and service! Stunning restaurant. Looking forward to me next visit!
Place was beautiful but service and food was very average!
Excellent food, wonderful setting and service. Would highly recommend
We had a lovely evening at Tattu, there was a slight delay with seating but this was quickly rectified and we were able to sit at our table and enjoy the meal. The service was outstanding, the setting was beautiful and the food was delicious. I have recommended this to many friends.
I booked a table for my boyfriends birthday as a surprise. Heard great things. The service was awful. Even after 2 separate attempts at complaining it didnt improve. A waste of £150!
This is a great place to spend an evening but you must be prepared to realise this is not like a normal restaurant. It is a little more on the younger side, very glamorously dressed sipping cocktails at the bar with an in-house DJ playing background music to create the vibe which was good and not too loud. You can certainly get dressed up to go, or as some other diners not! The menu is different and good a selection, although I have to stay it didn't WOW us as much as when we first ate at the Leeds venue. We also had to wait half an hour and then remind the reception we had not been seated, although it said we had and we were shown to a table of 2 right at the back of the restaurant with no view or ambience. It was more a table for someone who had not booked rather than someone who had booked 3 weeks ago on open table. We were eventually placed at a better table under the cherry blossom tree.
Absolutely fantastic experience! The atmosphere was incredible, the food was outstanding and the service was impeccable. We booked a table to celebrate my birthday; team Tattu made sure we were well looked after and nothing was too much trouble.
I would not hesitate to recommend Tattu and indeed, I have already told many of my friends that they must see for themselves how fantastic it is there.
We will absolutely be back!!
Arrived a tattu 20 mins eLy and was seated straight away. We knew we had to vacate table by nine so due to catch 9.39 train back to Stratford upon Avon. It was my daughters birthday so we request a booth which we were given and was beautiful. Sadly the service let it down. We hadn’t even been served our sweet by 9pm so knew we were going to miss our train. We were then asked to vacate the table at 9,50 even though we had just finished sweet and ordered coffee. We were given a table upstairs in bar . We requested the bill and was given an incorrect bill which the waiter walked off for ten minutes with my husbands credit card and was no where to be seen. We almost missed the 10.30 train due to this. disappointed to say least especially given the service charge. Prob won’t return
Unfortunately this restaurant is style over substance. Having been here a few times before I should have known better, as it frequently disappoints.
General manager and waitering staff have bizarre view that my 19 year old brother (who they thought could be 16 or 17) could have one glass of champagne, but not two (in the restaurant). The primary reasoning being a course they had attended, rather than knowing the law which states very clearly 16 or 17 year olds can drink wine, beer or cider with a meal if accompanied by an adult. A simple google search would demonstrate how fallacious this view was, or reading various .gov pages on the subject. As I made clear, I would have no objection if they didn’t want to serve for any other reason, as is their prerogative, but they were instead quoting the law to me.
Aside from this, service generally slow and lacking any tact or training and the food can be acceptable but is more often than not poor. I don’t understand why Tattu has such poor waiting staff compared to other mid/high end restaurants in the area like Gaucho although based off the management this could be a factor.
Previous trips have included antics like pouring an entire wine bottle into two glasses to the extent we had to put our heads to the table and lap the wine up until we could risk clasping the glass without spillage.
However the decor is top class so I tend to save this for guests who want an instagram photo, rather than a reliably good meal with good service.
Proceed with caution (or try the Manchester restaurant, which is great).
Brilliant service as soon as you walk through the door. The food is amazing. Worth the money.
Amazing food and fantastic service.👌🏼
A beautiful restaurant in a central location. Very attentive service which at times felt a bit laboured for a Friday lunch, however the food was delicious and worth the wait.
Not somewhere I would recommend for a quick lunch but definitely somewhere for a celebration in style.
The dim sum menu has some unique flavour combinations which I can highly recommend.
Good ambience , beautiful decor and exquisite food
Great restaurant, the service was very good and the wait time for food was also very good. Really loved the ambiance of the restaurant, perfect for taking that special instagram pic.
Would most definitely recommend & go again.
It’s such a beautiful place. Definitely recommend anyone to go and I’m definitely going back again. Took my partner for our anniversary she loved it. The service was amazing and the food too.
The food was cooked to perfection, presented well and the flavours were amazing. The décor is beautiful and the restaurant has the right ambience to match its product making the food taste even better. Maria's service was excellent with the menu explained and suggestions of cocktails based on personal preferences in taste. Overall feeling very satisfied with the dining experience and will be returning.
This is my third visit and the food has been top draw every time. The staff are very friendly and professional. My only quibble is the pre drink issue. This is the second time now we have been served our pre dinner drinks with the arrival of the food and wine. Im guessing the bar is under pressure and isn’t quick enough producing the amount of drinks in the time.
Maybe something the management can look at. Still one of the best Asian restaurants around.
We was initially worried this place would be style over substance but we was proven wrong. Service was excellent, waited on by a lovely lady called Maria who knew the menu well and recommended dishes which were really good. Would love to come here more often but it's really expensive. Nice for a special occasion.
Me and my husband went to this restaurant for my birthday and it was a great experience. Lovely food and amazing atmosphere and we would like to thank patrycja for a warm welcome and also all the other staff for making our night wonderful.
We tried this restaurant on the advice of a friend who had visited a couple of weeks earlier. The food is Ok nothing outstanding and the prices are a little high likewise with the wine. The food is in the pan Asian style mixing the flavours and textures form various countries. If you are looking for a traditional Chinese experience then I would suggest going to one of the Chung Ying restaurants in Birmingham.
We were booked in for 7pm for my boyfriends birthday, and were told to take a seat at the bar and someone would be with us shortly to show us to our table. We waited until 7:40 and I had to go back to the girl on the welcome desk and ask when we would be seated. She advised that another staff member advised we were having drinks at the bar first with friends, which was completely untrue. Our booking was for 2 people only. They clearly mixed us up with another couple. By this time, about 5 other groups had arrived after us and were seated before us. No one came to check with us at all. First impression was very disappointing. We were offered no explanation complimentary drinks or anything for their error. Despite this, everything that followed was great. The food is exceptional and the manager and waiter staff are all very polite and explain each dish to you.
I have to agree with most others here... the service here is terrible, they just don't have their s**t together. The servers themselves were lovely, very helpful, but never really there when you needed them. We were sat at a table and a good 25 minutes elapsed before someone came to take a drink order! Our food then cam out so sporadically one dish would be gone & long forgotten before the next arrived, despite the fact they should have been served together. The food was okay, some was even quite nice...some. This is clearly a management issue, the people want to help, but the overall running of Tattu in Birmingham is awful. This was a Monday night, not a busy Saturday. Really no excuse. I should have listened to other reviews & gone elsewhere.
Had a fantastic time celebrating my partner's birthday , the food and staff were amazing and a really beautiful restaurant
Best food and beautiful restaurant, such a relaxing atmosphere too.
Fantastic. Fantastic. Fantastic. Love this place. Food, staff, decor, atmosphere. Everything about it!
Brilliant menu and a fantastic venue. Great for sharing food and enjoying drinks!
I visited the restaurant with my two best friends for our friends birthday and had an amazing time! the service was excellent and the food was delicious. everyone was extremely friendly yet professional and the atmosphere was spot on. i would definitely recommend and can't wait to visit again!
Really enjoyed the evening, food and service were excellent. However, booked for 9:30 and were not sat until 10
