The atmosphere and service were both excellent. There was only one dish (the meatballs) that I would rate really high. Other than that dish, the food was good, but not memorable.
We went for restaurant week - food and service was good, however, we were really disappointed in the wine list. We typically order a bottle, however, they only had one Italian red wine so we just got a glass- very odd for Italian restaurant. The red selection was not very good either.
Place was nice and clean, ambiance was great. Took about 10 minutes for a waitress to first come by after being seated, they rarely came around through the whole dinner. Focaccia bread was delicious, soup of the day was potato, that was good. Ordered the seafood risotto and chicken parm for the entrees. The risotto was cold and the chicken parm was $24 for a chunk of breaded chicken with no spaghetti noodles at all, but came with a side of pickled carrots?? Weird. Kinda disappointed, won’t recommend.
$160 for 4 small pasta entries and 4 drinks. No salad, bread or anything else! Was not even that good. Will not go back.
The restaurant is nice and our server was amazing. The food was not good though. It wasn't tasty and for it being Italian - it was disappointing and I'm Italian so I know what it's supposed to taste like. Plus we spent $195 and zoinks! Not sure on what... Do not recommend for Italian food for sure.
The people were great, easy-going, competent, gracious, efficient. We wanted to be pretty much alone on a date, in a nice place, eat a good meal, have a couple of drinks. Worked out just right.
Very under impressed. Nonna meatballs were overrated. No flavor boring. My gma was Italian and hres far surpassed these waste of money. Glad we chose not to eat dinner here
stumbled upon this restaurant. Very good food. Service was great!
If you go, you have to try the Nonna meatballs. Either as the appetizer or added to your pasta. Outstanding!
Service was great, but food was just ok. Appetizers were much better than the entrees.
The service was fast and friendly but when it comes to the menu its like its trying to hard to come off as hip or trendy and in doing so it fails at the fundamentals of doing italian food well.
It was very drafty. The food seems pre-made. The service was excellent.
Amazing food and experience!
Food was very disappointing. Polenta was horrible. None of our food was hot..barely warm. Meatballs were decent. Won’t be back
Should have paid attention to the reviews. The pasta was definitely not fresh and may have been from a box. Either way mine was so undercooked it was hard in spots and actually a little crunchy, pretty sure it's supposed to be softer. My wife's meal had the same issue with the pasta and instead of toasted brown butter they appeared to have just dumped flavorless clarified butter over the top to cover their sins but, the cook wasn't done yet, someone went ahead and emptied a salt shaker on there for good measure. The one bright spot was our waitress who was pleasant and some what attentive. I'm embarrassed for the out of towner's staying at Hotel Phillip next door, I'd hate for them to think this is what KC cuisine is like, we can cook more than BBQ in this town. Gonna have to say hard pass on this one in the future.
Was just so so, food was mediocre at best. Doubtful they will last through Covid-19
Terrible food and service.
We were staying at the Hotel Phillips and love Italian food so had one of our weekend stay meals at Taveronna. Food was excellent. They make most of their pasta in house and it was outstanding. Our server Cody was very helpful with menu items and also fun things to do in the area of the hotel. Would definitely eat there again if we find ourselves in KC.
Food and service were great. Noise of course was minimal due to COVID restrictions. Glad we stayed at the hotel and came here!
Given the current state of affairs with COVID-19 the service and food were fantastic. Unfortunately we weren’t able to get the family style meals, but our steaks were incredibly flavorful (though slightly too done).
The restaurant was lovely and quiet, and the wine & meal was absolutely divine! We also had gelato and sorbet for dessert as well and it was the perfect way to end the meal.
The food is amazing. I have to say the server did a very poor job. We had to ask for silverware 3 times before we received it. Also when I asked for creamer he told me “I already gave some to your friend” even though I wanted my own creamer. We also had to ask for sugar twice before we received it. Every time I spoke to him I had to repeat myself 2 or 3 times because he seemed to not care or not pay attention. This is one of my favorite restaurants but I have to say I highly doubt I will return due to the treatment we received. It had been a long time since me and my friends got together for brunch on a Sunday and I expected much more from this restaurant.
Food was good. Server was nice but not very present. Service was really slow. I would go back but definitely not a first or second choice.
We had good foog and great service. we would definitely recommend!
Wonderful server, fantastic food. Felt like we were back in Italy for a few hours.
We had high hopes but left disappointed. The cost was not worth the quality or quantity. If you like salt you might love it but it was a little too much for us not to mention part of the pasta was hard and the scallops were burned and the meal was missing items. $10 for a 4 oz pour of wine. The only saving grace was our waiter. The manager on the other hand showed a complete lack of the understanding of customer service and scolded our waiter and other staff in front of customers. Can’t say as if we will ever go back!
Valentine’s day
We went there for Valentines Dat before seeing Come From Away at the Music Hall. Meatballs were really great, loved that they were made from brisket and had no pork. Sauce and the bread was terrific as well. I had the chicken parm and that was very good also. Did not care for the pickled vegetables on the side. My husband and I both thought the menu choices were limited. There was no fish on the menu, mostly beef and the seafood items had pork in them. While his pasta was good and my food was great, a little wider menu would be better. Service was very good! Overall enjoyed it and easy to get to the music hall.
Meatballs very good
pasta okay, not great
service was very friendly
Celebrating a birthday lunch with colleagues, and even had my 9 year old with us as school was out. It was a great experience, the food was amazing, service was spot on, and they added a birthday candle to the desserts.
We have come here several years in a row for brunch while in Kansas City for a dance competition. This time, however, it was a strange experience. We felt like they didn’t particularly want to accommodate our party of 7 people even though the restaurant was fairly empty, and they didn’t want us to order off the menu because they had a buffet. I don’t think we will be back although it used to be a favorite spot.
This is a hidden gem! Blake was our server. He was well educated and excited about the menu. This made our dining experience top-notch!
Service, food, wine, all top notch. Salami & Cheese platter was super carefully curated with fine ingredients. The meatballs are AMAZING. If you’re in downtown KC there probably isn’t a better place to dine. Definitely a go-to for us!!
The Branzino was very good and the Butternut risotto and focaccia were very good also! The vibe is semi casual and the menu has a nice selection of entrees and small plates. I definitely recommend giving it a try.
Both our meals were excellent. Aa little pricey, but always willing to pay a little more for quality....and you get it! We boxed both meals and ate them 2 days later.....still excellent!
Great place to dine downtown away from the hustle and bustle of Power and Light. Close enough to Power and Light to walk to a concert. Everything was delicious.
I would recommend the food, but the service was not good. Server was rude and everything we asked for seemed to bother him. The food was amazing! You can tell it's made from scratch and a lot of flavor. Everyone in our party raved about how great the food was!
I will definitely be back. What we ordered during lunch was delicious and very reasonably priced.
Fun night out! Excellent service and comfortable atmosphere. Nice spin on modern Italian fare
Always like to try new venues. The restaurant was dark ,not well lighted, and not very busy for a Saturday night. We tried a few appetizers which were fine, especially liked the grilled romaine with a fresh egg on top. My husband had the bolognese and I the pappardelle with mushrooms and wild boar which was hearty. Probably the most disappointing thing was a need to keep asking for things you would hope the restaurant would be at the ready to provide, a knife, another spoon, cheese for your main dish. I am always excited at new openings in Kansas City, just not sure I would make this trip again.
Christmas Dinner - We stayed at Hotel Phillips on our way to Kansas on Christmas Day. Downtown KC was pretty much shut down, and the Hotel restaurant and bar was open for limited hours on this day. We sat at the bar and had drinks and ate at the bar. Staff was friendly and very helpful. We chose a few small plates to share off the menu and all was very good. We would definitely dine here again on a future visit through KC.
