We had a great time! Good cocktails and small bites for great value. I believe our waiter’s name was Rich and he was so great! He was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu.
Food was well above expectation for the Charleston touristy sector - particularly the charred high heat oven for delicious flavor on all seafood items.
The cognac and cigars at the end while nice was a bit down market and reminded us how touristy the place really was... oh well
Celebrating my daughters 30th bday :). Great waiter and delicious food. Very fun vibe!
Rich our server was fantastic. knowledgeable and courteous. Chloe's drinks were amazing. Host team was attentive and upbeat. Overall a great birthday celebration. Highly recommend the grilled octopus as well as the cauliflower and snapper. We will certainly come back. A new top spot in downtown !
We were very happy overall with the restaurant. The service was incredable and the food was good. We got the seafood tower, I just didnt think the value was there for what we paid.
Will give it another try........they have only been open about 2 months so maybe working out the kinks here. Again.
King crab legs were described from server as whole but served picked?? Not a pleasant surprise.
This was our second trip to Charleston in the past few months and we chose to eat at Tempest for the second time as we LOVE this restaurant! The food is artful on the plate and extraordinary on the palate - cudos to Chef Lee for making each dish an epicurean delight! We chose the front porch this time as the weather was lovely and it was fun to watch the horse drawn carriage rides going past on the brick street. Our server, Caroline, was knowledgeable and engaging, making for another memorable evening at our new favorite spot in the heart of Charleston!
First, but not the last, time there. Exceeded our expectations in every way. We were seated upstairs which is quiet., dining downstairs (although amazing with stained glass ceilings) is a bit louder but will try it anyway just for the beauty of it!
We went to Tempest to enjoy an experience of great food delivered in a welcoming setting with attentive service. We got that and more. We were celebrating our 28th Wedding Anniversary; and end to end, we received a outstanding epicurean delight.
The service, food and location was phenomenal. The staff went above and beyond to ensure our dining experience was exceptional. I’ve been to many Charleston restaurants over the past decade and none have ever brought complimentary cigars, cognac, a single red rose and the check presented inside a book for which the restaurant is named. How neat! My flounder was crispy on the outside and flaky on the inside with an incredibly tasty fingerling potato sauce. My husband’s grouper was tender yet seared on the outside with a balsamic reduction and sweet corn kernels presenting a fabulous balance in flavors. Our server Chase was attentive, personable and knowledgeable. We will definitely be back!
Don’t miss this place! The food is extraordinary!
We loved our visit. The second tier seating was perfect. Food was creative and delicious. Wes was our server and he was fantastic. Cannot wait to come back.
It was a very special birthday dinner thanks to the excellent service and food. Nice touches included champagne and roses
The fish dishes were outstanding! It was our anniversary. They gave us a wine tasting flight. Love the stain glass ceiling.
We had a wonderful dining experience for our First Wedding Anniversary at Tempest. The food was incredible as was the service, wine and ambiance in the second floor dining room. The evening ended with cigars, cognac and roses with Braised Peaches. I highly recommend this restaurant.
The food was phenomenal and the customer service was incredible! Highly recommend!
Awesome! Great oysters and whole fish the best.
Great meal! Downstairs seating looked like better ambience, but overall didn’t take away from the experience.
Amazing from start to finish. Wanted to shake the Chef’s hand it was so good!
Food wasn't anything great or even passable for the clientele they are targeting.
Went in for brunch and it was phenomenal. We got the soufflé pancakes and steak and eggs. The two dishes were the perfect balance of sweet and savory. I recommend sitting on the patio if you can, overlooking the market it comes with great people watching.
Our service was great and the seafood was good also. However, the noice level was really bad. Tables on either side of us were literally yelling to communicate across to each other. So it was way rowdier than we expected. So if your looking for rowdy with good seafood go for it!
Our server was great. Knowledge of the menu and special requests for our ceviche were huge pluses. Overall experience was awesome. Definitely would recommend for a date night or special occasion.
We had a great experience! We ate appetizers during this mid-day seating. I loved the ambience and interior decor, as well as beautiful outdoor porch seating. I hope to return for dinner to enjoy even more selections.
Service was so slow we never had the chance to try the very limited menu. Drinks were overpriced and came out ill prepared 30 minutes for a drink 3 tables in the room with little service we just gave up
We had an outstanding experience dining with Tempest. Our table was outside adjacent to the sidewalk and provided the best people watching one could hope for. Justin was attentive and knew the menu well - great recommendations. The cigar and cognac after dinner was a lovely touch! Highly recommend this new spot for a wonderful evening!
I dislike non-stellar review-writing, but you asked! Unfortunately we were really bummed to learn you were out of Cesar Salad (the entire table wanted it and we didn't know why you didn't buy lettuce from Harris Tetter!). The food overall was good, but the value was not on par with portions. The desserts were only so-so. Our guests asked for "bruised" martinis (I know, that's kinda high maintenance!) but our server was really confused and unfortunately that made for two unhappy guests when they didn't get what they asked for. The manager did want to make up for it and offered us free dessert -- that was really nice! But then the desserts didn't taste great, so we were happy to not pay for those. Overall, $400+ (without dessert) was a steep bill for a mediocre food experience. I got the Flounder, which tasted great, but the portion size was very small for a $36 price tag. One guest got the coq au vin, which she did not love. One guest got the Whole Fish and loved it. My bf got the Snapper and said it was salty. My guess is we're paying for the location, but as locals, we came for the food. Really nice staff, though.
Not impressed at all. The waiter got a little irritated when I asked for a salad they did not serve salad. I asked for bottled water they did serve that either. They would not exchange any vegetables the dessert was not that great they bring Brandy at the end of the meal when they knew at the beginning we didn’t drink. And they bring cigars both for men and women. There’s a lot better places in Charleston to eat then this place.
The new kid in the neighborhood. A fascinating place to see and be seen. The ambiance superb, and the food superb.
Unique and delicious food served by a lovely and knowledgeable young woman.
Free cognac, roses and cigars was an unexpected lovely end to a wonderful meal.
Staff was professional, knowledgeable, courteous, and friendly. Food was great, seafood fresh, wine list on point. Probably the best dining experience in Charleston!
We had an outstanding experience at Tempest. The Grouper and Snapper were delicious!!! We will definitely return! Great new addition to Charleston’s restaurants!
My boyfriend and I went here for a date and were astonished at the quality of food and service! This restaurant represents Southern hospitality and seafood cuisine at its finest!
Simply amazing! The chefs selection was on point with layered textures and popping flavors. Wait staff was thoughtful and knowledgeable.
This was my second time at tempest and I can not recommend it enough! The umami bombs and snapper are a must. I will be returning!
This restaurant and service itself was fine but the upstairs was too loud. And for the prices, the portion sizes left a lot to be desired.
Absolutely incredible. Everything we had was delicious. I will be dreaming about this meal for a long time. The service was also incredible. Five stars all around.
Everything was perfect - could not have ask for a better place to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We will return
I ate at Tempest last night there was six of us at the table we enjoyed everything the food was amazing the service was amazing our table seating was fantastic we ordered one of everything on the menu and I don't think we had one single complaint the decal was probably my husband's favorite I enjoyed the Crudo and the oysters everything was fresh and serve perfectly the proportion size was more than adequate and we will definitely be coming back
Really great food and ambiance. Glad to say a new aspiring and inspiring restaurant in Charleston. What a treat!
