It was a very good night / my mom and i we’re celebrating a small thing and the food just made everything better:)
The food was PERFECT.
Service was prompt and we received our meals quickly as restaurant wasn't too busy for our 6:15 reservation. Cozy atmosphere. Portions are very generous so we were happy we skipped the appetizers. The meat in the goulash was very tender as was the lamb my partner ordered. Good homestyle cooking and definitely worth a visit if you want to try something different.
The food and service was great. The portions are massive so beware of appetizers! What didn't work was the OpenTable reservation. The hostess had no record that I had made a reservation through OpenTable even though I had booked it several hours before. Fortunately, the hostess went out of her way to make arrangements for us so we barely had to wait at all. Great restaurant; crappy booking service.
Friendly staff and giant portions of yum!
They had really great selection of all types of Eastern European cuisine from salads to pastas and meats. The portions are large and the food is delicious! The service was phenomenal! My friend had the grilled chicken and I had the mixed barbecue platter. We will definitely return to this hidden gem of a restaurant!
Lots of food. Portions large but very yummy.A little noisy as there was a birthday party with 12 adults .
Ordered goulash and meat platter for one and they were delicious.
What a hidden gem!! Portion is huge and very affordable. I wish the lighting can be brighter inside the restaurant. Will come back again for sure!
Outstanding food and value! Burnaby’s best kept secret!
I enjoyed it very much :) love the place. I definitely would return to try more dishes. Service was well-timed and friendly.
Good food. Small place but it’s a gem
Had a pleasant meal. Lamb soup & Chicken Roulade. Both were very tasty. Also enjoy the cabbage salad on the side.
Lots of interesting bric a brac adds to the atmosphere. Service was good and friendly.
Big portion of food, can’t finish the whole dish. food is good. Butter is home made, bread is good. However wait too long for the food even there is only Table for four on that day.
Clean and comfortable food. Meat platter is must try.
A little neighbourhood gem. This is the 3rd time we have enjoyed dinner at TENEN. This time we took our best friends and they loved it too. The menu is real authentic - using local ingredients and serve big great tasting portions. Service is extremely friendly and accommodating. ......We shall for sure be back.
My reservation did not go through. We showed up for our appointment only to find out they never received any information about my reservation, thus we had no table. The restaurant was full, so we had to get our food to go and eat it elsewhere. The venue was nice enough to give us a free bottle of wine for our trouble. I will go back to the restaurant, but i will not be using OpenTable to make my reservation.
Super fresh, made to order homemade comfort food. Generous portions that are delicious and guaranteed to please!
Cute restaurant, delicious food and large portions!
Quaint setting with unique food selection. Excellent quality and a different variety...
We had a reservation for 5, taking up their tables, and sadly we were running quite late. A quick phone call to them assured us that though they were busy, the space was held for us. We were treated gracefully over this business-losing issue. This was our third visit to Tenen. Despite being late we were treated like any customer would want to be treated and they quite quickly produced the ordered 5 totally different meals. The meals were generously proportioned, created and cooked to perfection and served with a smile, friendliness and civility.... and the coffee and desserts met all expectations. We are definitely making Tenen our local "go-to" restaurant . So many more interesting meals to try!
Tenen is a small restaurant and they do get busy, having to turn customers away at times.
awesome food, excellent and personable service! highly recommended
Hidden Gem! This place is truly a hidden gem! Surprised it hasn't gotten more attention. It really should be advertised more. We went with a Groupon. If it hadn't been for Groupon and the fact that this place is so close to where we live, we probably wouldn't have tried this place. We tried the Karadjordjeva Schnitzel and the Tenen meat platter. Everything was soooooo flavorful. Portions were huge! Yum yum yum! We will definitely go back sometime, and we will bring some friends with us!
Amazing Balkan food with all fresh ingredients. I have traveled a lot in theses countries and this restaurant is really "like at home". Please go there and enjoy, you will travel to these lovely countries.
The team is really invested to produce the best quality is a very typical style. If you can't to Croatia, Serbia, montenegro... just go to Tenen for Dinner!
A really good place to go in Burnaby!
Great food, good quality and taste is amazing. It's more for meat lovers, but there are 2-3 vegetarian options.
Thanks to Open Table, we found this quaint neighbourhood gem. Quality food and great service, especially when ones comes in with a pre-existing burn that required attention. The owner went out of his way to make an ice bag for me so I can enjoy dinner in less pain. It was very mich appreciated and certainly noticed for above and beyond customer service.
The restaurant has a very cultural atmosphere inside it like you stepped into the Balkans themselves. The server are very professional and sweet. Don't get me started the food everything I have tried thus far has been amazing. On a quick glance at the kitchen it looks like a bunch of moms cooking the food with their own love embedded into it and the flavor of the food shows! I would recommend this place to anyone.
Eastern European restaurant in convenient location with good home made like food
Enjoyed the food and atmosphere here!! We had the meat platter... and it was very meaty!! We also tried the cabbage rolls. Both were very delish!! The homemade bread they served with the food was fresh and fluffy... we were stuffed.... but couldn't resist trying their dessert. We wanted to try something new so we tried the sour cherry cake. It was delish!!! My husband who was too full to eat anything else when I suggested dessert.... ate 3/4 of it! Definitely will be going back!... the staff there is also very friendly!
Charming Serbian restaurant in Burnaby serving Eastern European cuisine. Cabbage rolls quite tasty but heavy on the meat and paprika. Lamb was delicious. Chicken thighs and trout quite good. Baklava excellent. Only 1 server for all tables so a little slow. I had a problem with the Open Table reservation which they hadn’t received but seated us right away. After several conversations with server about acknowledging that we’d been there I am not certain if our points were added.
Delicious & authentic Eastern European food and beverages served by friendly staff. The interior is filled with wonderful memorabilia .
Good, friendly local restaurant. Features Balkan / East European food. Very tasty, and reasonable.
Yelpers indicated Goulash was a must order. The sauce was good to dip the bread as there was nothing provided for the bread. The meat was over cooked and dry. The Veal was very good however they need to remove the chewy membrane before they roll it. Server was nice but our water was never refilled.
Small place, great food! Never knew it was there...glad I found it.
• If you have not been here before, you will not be disappointed at all!
• I got a discount from Groupon and was well worth it
• located at Royal Oak & Rumble area, hidden gem around this neighbourhood
• the food... A M A Z I N G!!! 5/5, home cooked meals, you can feel the love thats put on the dish
• Goulash: tender meat, flavourful sauce, hefty amount that comes with some veggies & rice
• Leskovachki Ushtipc $16.95 (formed ground meat) topped with yogurt cream sauce & fresh onions: this was D E L I C I O U S! It came with roasted potatoes & peppers. The combination is out of this world, party in my mouth
• the other food that were being served around us were mouthwatering like the Roulade, Veal dishes etc!
• for a Thursday evening, this place was busy
• $40 for 2 people without alcohol
• service 5/5, there was only 1 server for the whole restaurant but the lady was quite efficient and nice
• an Eastern European dish that is prepared with love
• I am definitely buying more Groupon for this place!
What a small gem - hidden away - but we found it - A very small restaurant but extremely cozy atmosphere - felt welcome - fantastic good tasting food and huge portions - large menu options
A BIG THANK YOU to the chef and the courteous servers - We had a wonderful time and shall for sure be back and bring friends
This place is for the meat lovers. Really. But, no matter what you order, it tastes great. The place itself is on smaller size and packed in the evenings, I guess for the good reason(s). Which is food and the Eastern European late XX-century ambience. Prices are above average, but there no buyer's remorse - it is worth it. Definitely try the Serbian beer (Lav) to make your order complete.
Great food, great service, want to go again. Flavorful, good spice.
Small family own eastern European restaurant with good food. Limited parking space. Price is average.
