Texas Street Grill
The food was excellent. My filet mignon melted in my mouth and was not over seasoned. I would return as long as I wasn’t in a hurry.
Unfortunately they were running on a skeleton crew in the front of the house, and we were not even acknowledged until about 25 minutes after seating. We received our food about an hour after ordering.
Great staff. Excellent food. Poor selection of beer
What a delightful date with my wife and the food was amazing! Thank you for the complimentary drink tickets for the “backyard!”
But please don’t be bashful about enforcing a dress code! The locals should not feel entitled to wear swim trunks, T-shirt’s and baseball caps to dinner in this top rated restaurant.
No one at host stand; host incredibly rude; left
excellent experience Went with several people and we really had a good time. The staff was friendly and the food was great. We will go back again soon.
Quite possible the worst food I have had since I moved to Austin 3 years ago. The Osso Bucco was a dried up tough piece of pork on a bone. Out of the 10 meals our table ordered all were terrible but the filet mignon - and it was served lukewarm. The terrible service from our waiter made it even worse. We complained to the manager who was actually quite apologetic and understanding and took a couple of meals and a bottle of wine off the bill. At least he made a good effort to recover which was appreciated.
Oof. Today was just off. Hopefully our experience wasn’t typical.
We sat in the bar, 4 people. We got 4 menus, 3 dated 6/1/2019 and 1 dated 6/5/2019. They did not match. Service was fair; however, wait staff looked confused. We had beverages trying to be delivered to our table that were not ours. The value is not there. Plus, what is with those funeral blue curtains in the entry?
Love the new decor. Great new menu. Food was great.
Our favorite neighborhood restaurant in Lakeway! Love the new decor but loved it before as well! Same great food plus some new additions!
Love this place, and the new interior is much quieter and more comfy. Food is terrific, and the new shared-plates brunch concept worked well for our party of 5.
They just changed their name to something new so we drove by it the first time. All of our dishes were very tasty. We had 2 tasty items served at room temperature and they immediately gave us new ones.
The pork queso and quail appetizers were very good. The tuna was probably the best dish. We also had the grouper, burger, and tortilla soup which were all very good. Hope this place continues to draw customers and stays in business - good find in Lakeway and accessible to the Steiner Ranch and Bee Cave residents.
Attended Father's Day brunch. The buffet, actually brought to the table, was excellent. And the cost, including a few mimosas, was about 1/2 of what we have spend in the past for such a brunch. Great food and great value.
tried to reinvented themselves but didn't see much difference except decor and name change. Menu pretty much the same. Ok but not somewhere I would go on a regular basis.
Enen though they changed name we really enjoy our dinner time. Great food and service .
Service was poor. You could tell they were understaffed. New is good and updates to the interior look good.
Consistently great experience. Everyone’s meal was delicious. Service was very attentive. We had the Ahi, the grouper, and the Oso Buco. All were amazing. Definitely one of our favorites!
Ordered food that did not arrive. 45 min to deliver dinner
I absolutely love the ambiance here! It's intimate yet open. Everyone's talking around you yet you can't even hear the table next to you! It's great. The food is so delicious. I wouldn't really be in a hurry if you come here, but that adds to the relaxation of enjoying such a nice meal.
Restaurant wasn’t open at our scheduled reservation time. Called, no answer, called again at 11:50 and still no answer. Ended up at another restaurant.
I actually put a poor review on trip advisor as well. First, our waitress was in such a hurry, she barked at ya fir our order, slammed things done as fast as she could. She was our first unpleasant experience and stressed ya out. We ordered our drinks and 29 mins later got them, one with a hug floating in it. Our food came out before we could even finish our martinis. We asked fir bread, waited forever fir that, then came out burnt. Never have we been charged extra for a lite”dirty martini!” That is absurd.
The food was extremely salty. My shrimp linguine was very spicy . That should have been mentioned on the menu.
I made my res on OpenTable.. Dinner out to celebrate a special occasion... 5:45 outside... Arrived on time... Opps.. Private party outside..Seated inside.. that's fine... Appetizer of baked goat cheese was ok... Boulibaise was WAY TOO SPICY!! Bread with it was pretty boring.....Salad with the Shrimp and Crab Cake was way to salty... Pretty mediocre celebration which they never acknowledged....
The food came out ice cold from the kitchen. They tried to make up for it with free desserts. The creme brûlée came out burnt on top and the glass bowl was hot and then inside was cold and the egg was separated. The waitress was very nice and accommodating, only decent part about that restaurant was our waitress.
This was our first time dining at 827Ray’s. We selected this restaurant based on having crepe brûlée on the menu. The rest of the menu was thoughtfully presented. I originally wanted the veal chops, but they didn’t have any. The carpaccio was delicious, I would go back for that alone! On the table: We had lobster mac, the pan roasted chicken and the crab cake combo with shrimp and scallops. Everything was delicious and perfectly seasoned. Decent wine list and they have a full bar.
We have been to 827 Ray’s several times for dinner and had great experiences with the service and the food. We came for brunch on Easter Sunday with our family (2 adults, 2 older kids) and it was very disappointing.
Our reservation was later and toward the end of brunch so much of the food was gone, and some replenished, but not a lot left/looking good.
Food was average compared to the menu items every day. Value for adult brunch was not great— almost $40 per person(adult) for a very mediocre meal. The dessert was sparse and even our kids did not care for the few things left— and they don’t pass up desserts.
Because it was a buffet the server was not as attentive with drink refills, cleaning plates. We needed more water often our drinks replenished.
I love brunch and was so looking forward to this but am very disappointed. I don’t typically like to write reviews unless they are positive, but this visit left us all disappointed on a special holiday.
Hope it will improve for future!
The food was the only somewhat good aspect of this visit. The restaurant looks amazing from the outside but once you are inside, it’s a cold empty space with atrocious decor. Server acted as if we were bothering her from the start and kept saying how busy she was. Our bill was close to $300 for a family of 6. Not the service or atmosphere we expect from choosing to dine at an expensive steak/seafood restaurant. I wanted to leave before we ordered. Disappointing.
We came here to celebrate our 33rd wedding anniversary because we've always had a wonderful experience and the food is consistently good. However, I made the mistake of ordering the Chef's Seafood Bouillabaisse which was a huge disappointment. The broth was thick and there were lots of potatoes in it. Not sure I've had this dish with potatoes ever! My husband ordered their Pork Osso Bucco which is always incredible. Yes, we recommend 827 Ray's but suggest you not order the Bouillabaisse.
Our server was attentive and knowledgeable as well.
For the cost not at all what we expected. The server didn’t know the menu very well. My food was salty and both my friend’s steaks were undercooked. Did I mention no one was there cause of an impending storm - so just us to cook for & couldn’t get it right. Not impressed at all - we wanted a fancy dinner for girls night - should’ve gone elsewhere.
Josh was Fantastic!
Food was outstanding, especially the swordfish. Wine was a GREAT value!
Walking in, the decor almost made us turn around and leave. There is nothing high-end or edgy or cool about the decor. It is VERY dated with really terrible artwork on the walls... the place needs a serious overhaul...
So we decided to sit at the bar since it was our anniversary...
The food was delicious but a few problems... we had a very interesting calamari appetizer but the breading fell off of the calamari before we could even get a bite... For the entree, I ordered a $32 filet mignon medium-rare and it came medium to medium-well... So, they had to re-cook it and it arrived long after my wife had finished her entree.... I would hope a steakhouse would get the temps right.
On the upside was the bartender... she was amazing - made a fabulous martini and really had everything together. She made the experience a 4 star - otherwise, we would go with 2.5
The manager said that they would be renovating soon, but he also said that they were going to carpet the whole place... there are decent floors already... so, while I might try it again, I am really hoping that they spend the money to work with a real established restaurant interior designer and don't think they can do the renovation themselves.... I would def not start with carpet....
No, I will not recommend Rays to anyone. 3 pieces of asparagus!! Really? Way too much Hollandaise sauce. It covered the entire plate. The orange chicken was ok. And the price was too much for what we got. No, we will not be back.
Fresh, fresh, fresh! Outstanding service, really fresh food and very well prepared. Good tunes and a very nice finish out. Great bartender fixes special request martini for my wife and it was spoy on. Oyster Rock with fresh spinach were amazing. Do not miss this place while in Austin!
Ordered a medium rare steak and was served medium. Steak was very tough. Was served brussel sprouts instead of spinach that o had ordered. Had made note in reservations that it was birthday celebration and no mention made of it. Husband ordered jumbo lump crab dinner....rather skimpy for the price. Chose cherry cobbler for dessert which had a miinimal number of cherries. Doubt we will return....very disappointed.
Really good, quality seafood!
As usual dinner was wonderful. Chuck may be the best waiter in town. Food was great! Wine list losing a little steam and didn't have the first bottle we ordered, but we found a good second pick.
Really enjoyed 8271 Ray's.The filets we had were awesome and the service was excellent. Can't wait to go back and enjoy again.
First, I want to clarify that we went to Texas Street Grill for Crawfish. The boil itself was well flavored and seasoned and had a nice kick to it. However, crawfish was an issue - first 2 orders were cooked perfectly. The 3rd order was way overcooked where the crawfish was nothing but mush. So we sent it back and got a replacement order...which was way undercooked. The chef should know that when the crawfish is cooked, the shell turns red. The last batch we got, the shells were grey and crawfish inside were slimy... We love crawfish and have been eating them for 30 years... It's a shame since most places get the boil wrong but get the cook right. I think with practice, they will get the cook of the crawfish right. We will try again and keep our fingers crossed.
Enjoyed it, sat in the area near the bar, which had a great feel. The dining area was relatively vacant; I think something should be done to add some character or pizzazz to the dining area. Otherwise, really enjoyed it.
