Thames is always a fun place to visit. Beautiful ocean view, great food, and superb service! One of our favorite places!
Started out perfect until asked if they were able to close the lining of the outdoor patio since it was very windy and cold. The girl closing it let it go which caused all the drinks to spill all over my lap all glasses were broken. I wasn’t making a big deal of it knowing it will dry but nothing was discounted or offered. Ended up getting food to go after a couple bites.
Had reservations still had to wait 30 minutes food took forever couldn't get ahold of the waitress , got the wrong order .. worse anniversary dinner
Loved being by the water and the wait staff was great but sadly the food was mediocre. Of the three things I tasted, the calamari was tender but not crisp, the clam cakes were large but doughy, and the swordfish was dry.
The service was terrible. Waitress never came between rounds to see if we needed drinks. Had to go to the bar and order our own. The wrong pizza was brought to our table but no one ever came back for 15 minutes so we just ate the one that was brought.
We had the best lobster roll ever here. It tops any lobster shack in Maine.
There was an event on the top deck with a live band, which added the ambiance, but it was noisier than usual.
Great location right on water; good food, friendly service - what's no to like?
Awesome service and ambience as usual:)
We love stopping at Thames on the Water in the summer. Great food and vibe. Parking can be a challenge! It too is 20 mins to find a spot
Food was good and the waitress Megan was excellent.
Our waitress once again was incredible!!! Soooo nice. We were a bit bummed they didn't have the smachburger which was outstanding. The person (not our wonderful waitress) messed up the burgers gave me the medium rare and my friend the well done and I didn't notice it until a couple of bites in other than that it was all good and we will go back.
I ate here with my mother and two still unvaccinated sons (they are not old enough to receive a COVID vaccine). I had made a reservation for an outdoor table. It was cold and drizzly so the waitresses convinced us to sit indoors. I really wish we ate outside instead. None of the restaurant staff was wearing masks and at first we were the only customers but it filled up and got crowded very quickly. I asked if they could open the windows to allow the air to circulate a bit but was told no because they did not have the heaters on. I realize that vaccinated people are ok to not wear masks but I would be shocked if every single person eating and serving there was actually vaccinated. From the restaurant pictures it looked like there was covered outdoor seating but the tent appeared to be empty and probably used for big events. I did not feel my boys were safe eating here and felt the restaurant staff was not at all accommodating. They seated people right next to us and it was definitely warm enough to be able to open the window slightly to allow for some air circulation around us.
As for the food - my Greek salad with salmon was delicious. My son said his burger that he ordered medium well was undercooked. My other son devoured his though and they had the same thing. My mom ordered the same burger and thought it was ok. The lobster bisque was a very generous portion and again the table was split as to liking it vs. not enjoying (my son felt the lobster was chewy). The tuna tartare appetizer with seaweed was delicious.
The view was very pretty, and our server was friendly and pretty good although at times she seemed to forget about us.
Our server Courtney absolutely made our evening. She was fun, efficient and made us feel at home and not in a rush, even though it was busy! Food was great too! Views incredible. Will definitely return. Pulled pork sliders were amazing!!
Lovely location on the waterfront, too bad it turned into a cold day. Our server, Angelica was great, the food was ok, not great, but the desserts were awesome. Price was hefty to say the least. Ok for big wallets but really $$$ for average person.
Beautiful setting on the water. We watched the sunset on the upper level bar while we waited for our table. We waited about 30 minutes past our reservation, but the staff was friendly and it worked out so we could see a great view of the sunset. We also could order drinks while we waited, which helped too. Food also was fresh and good.
Expect delays with the upcoming summer peak season. Even with a reservation, you may have to wait 20-30 minutes before getting seated. They get a lot of "walk-in" customers with their location right on the water. There's lots of confusion between the main dining area and their upstairs, outside, open-air deck area. Currently, the upstairs portion is for drinks only and you don't need a reservation. They used to have dining up there, but not anymore. So when making a reservation for dining "outside", that means you will be in the lower/main ground floor level on a deck that is covered with a plastics/canvas tarp. They have very limited truly outside tables, maybe 6-8 tables total. If dining, I would suggest making a reservation, arriving 10-15 minutes early, check-in at the front desk to see if they can seat you right away and/or get an estimated time, and if having to wait, go upstairs and have a few drinks until you can get seated.
My first time here. Great location! Went on a day that was very sunny, but windy. Made reservations for 4 for outdoor dining, but when menus kept blowing away, moved to patio with roll-up sides. Good cocktails, I had pork sliders, on which I expected barbecue sauce, but came with melted cheese instead. Would come back & order something else.
An ideal place for a family gathering. Great food with large portion sizes. On the water, with amazing views.
A friend & I had a reservation for lunch on a Monday afternoon. We arrived early & were seated immediately.
We ordered the chili nachos to share & a bottle of wine. We asked if they had a house pinot grigio? We were told they had no house wine🙄 So, we ended up ordering a bottle, cheapest one we could find, for $40!! Seriously?
Until they get a house wine, or cheaper bottle, we will not return. The value is a rip-off!
Food is always great!
This is a great all-around restaurant with a full bar. The wait staff is professional and attentive and the food is very good. I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant.
They seem to be a little bit understaffed and the waitress was extremely friendly and the food was good as always
We love this place! The food was great! The service was friendly, but we did wait a while (25 minutes) before being greeted and ultimately have our orders taken! We were 10 minutes late for our reservation and they did not give us a hard time at all so I guess that makes up for the time we had to wait.
Great place, food perfect, drinks perfect, and view perfect!
Views were great. The food was good. The service needs improvement. Even with reservations, you still need to wait about 20-25 minutes for a table. The waitress took a while to get to the table and did not follow up very frequently to check on meal or drinks. We even had to ask another waitress to get our check.
Wonderful staff/experts offering excellent food & drink. Always aware so they’re well-timed and never overwhelming. They let the sunsets speak for themselves.
Our waitress Angelica did a great job. Our table was right on the water as we requested. Thanks for a great afternoon. We'll be back!
Great food, but it was super loud and no live music on Friday night! I made a reservation for 7:30 and when I arrived we still had to wait 30 minutes to be seated, and our clam cakes were burnt.
Delicious food and drinks! Loved the shrimp tacos and the new cucumber drink.
Great waterside experience on the Bristol bay. Accommodating and kind staff.
Awesome fish and chips
Great service, lovely setting. Excellent Caesar salad- crisp and fresh. The shrimp in the blackened shrimp tacos wasn't actually blackened, which was a bit disappointing.
Food was great, the view was spectacular on a beautiful sunny one day… The waitress was nice however, she did mess up my order but was able to fix the problem.
Also, suggestion: you need plastic straws for frozen drinks… The paper straws do not work at all.
We had a great experience, the food was great and the service was wonderful.
Servers were friendly but inexperienced. We waited a long time for small things, like sugar for a cup of tea, extra spoons, refills for drinks. And they never offered to refill water glasses. We had to go looking for our waitstaff and found her at the bar seated -- maybe on a break? - in the middle of our dinner. The food was good for the price and everyone enjoyed the situation on the waterfront in Bristol. Another downside - we visited on a Sunday evening and they were out of 3 appetizers and 2 main courses and the soup of the day.
Great food, incredible views, fabulous service!!!!
Harry ,our waiter, was attentive, courteous , and professional.
Maybe it was too late in the evening but the clam cakes were overdone maybe reheated and difficult to chew. Clam chowder was good Thank you
Beautiful setting and amazing food!!!
Our table was ready right at the time of our reservation.
What a waste of a location! Beautiful water front location with magnificent views, but terrible food & service. Both draught beers that we ordered they did not have, (they were printed in the menu). Brought the wrong drinks, TWICE, insisting that we ordered a Mojito, which we didn't. Clam cakes resembled dense golf balls & were uncooked in the center. When we mentioned this to the waitress she said, "show me where it isn't cooked in the middle". Fish sandwich was fair but greasy. Littlenecks dinner w/ linguisa was good but instead of "grilled bread" we had two slices of white toast. We had to ask another waiter to find our waitress after missing for a long while.
Truly a beautiful area and a second floor deck totally unused. Whomever owns this , you have a gold mine location, but a step below Applebee's restaurant.
