The Antler Steakhouse - Deerhurst Resort
Our host was a kind young man who checked in with us part way through our meal to see whether we were enjoying our meal. We also had the good fortune to meet up with him the next day at the pavilion where he recognized us and spent a few minutes chatting with us even though he had finished his shift. How nice that was.
Delicious food, excellent service (Stephanie). Would definitely go back!!
The service and the food was amazing!! The Antler Steakhouse never disappoints.
Excellent food with good variety. Friendly service. Good location.
All nice. Is was end of season (October) and there were some large groups in for dinning. The staff was doing there best. All good.
If you are serving fish on a cedar plank it should be real wood and a cedar plank. Not on a piece of plastic.
I’m not sure what the point was of asking if this was a special occasion at the time of booking. I had mentioned when booking about a month in advance that my husband and I were celebrating our 20th anniversary and we were returning to this restaurant because we dined there during our honeymoon 20 years ago. I didn’t expect the best table but we weren’t even seated in the main dining room! The host did not greet us or wish us a Happy Anniversary. Thanks to Leslie who called us a shuttle when our server forgot to do so. Overall we were disappointed at the lack of acknowledgement and personal attention. A shout out to Leanne the shuttle driver who was so sincere in wishing us a wonderful evening . In fact, Leanne would make an amazing host at the Antler!
We had the 40 oz tomahawk steak to share, it was delicious and tender, totally worth the money
we had a great dinner and our waitress was very, very nice and attentive.
Nice location. Service was pretty good - friendly staff. Somewhat disappointing selection. Food was "okay" but overpriced for quality. Have gone twice hoping that the second time would be better but selection was even less in September - and both times there was a mistake on the bill (overcharge). Not a bad place if you want steak, just don't expect a "wow" factor.
Defintiely recommend the Antler Steakhouse to friends....steak was cooked great and love the atmosphere.
This is the second time I’ve had tough meat. The first time, it was the lamb chops (the sirloin lamb was delicious). The offending meat this time was the short ribs. They were not cooked long enough to have them almost falling off the bone.
The service is very good and sitting by the fire to celebrate my birthday and my husband’s was lovely.
When you order the big rib steak the scalloped potatoes and Carrots were not enough for 2 people. Other than that a great meal. I think each person should get 2 sides with a 100 dollar steak.
Stephanie was our server in The Compass restaurant and then again at the Antler Steakhouse. She is just amazing and made our experience even better. She is very friendly and knowledgeable. Was a pleasure to have her as our server.
Amazing food and service, tenderloin was the best ive had. Would highly recommend!
Beef tenderloin was excellent. The NY strip was not quite as good.
Murray, our server was excellent.
Great food, beautiful location, great service and free hotel shuttle!
Limited menu, very expensive and didn’t deliver value.
Nice menu. Not cheap. Inconsistent service. Our octopus appetizer was dry, tasteless & sparse. Lobster bisque was excellent. Our beef & venison mains were very good, although the venison was a surprisingly small portion. Desserts were fine. All in all a good meal, decent service after a slow start, but at prices that promise so much more. Not sure I’d return without a coupon.
Our waitress, Stephanie, was fantastic, especially since she had our two tables - one of which had our 5 grandkids ages 5-8. She made our evening great. Food was exquisitely presented and cooked to perfection per our orders. It was a special evening for our family and Antler made it perfect!
Food was excellent .Service was great. Wonderful ambiance. We had a corner table for 4 in the corner and it was perfect. Manager John checked often to make sure we were all content which we were
Had a great dinner, to bad its not opened year round. I had the top sirloin and my husband had the ribeye. Sides were very generous but we had to try dessert to get the full experience. Did not disappoint.
Lobster was cold. Potatoes side dish too hot to eat. Steak was over cooked (asked for medium got well). Service was fine, Everything over priced. Won’t be back. :(
It was a very pleasant dining experience, everything from the service to the food was excellent. We would recommend it to everyone looking for an evening out with their guests or loved ones
I've been on several occasions and have had a great time. Unfortunately this time didn't live up to my expectations. I would still try it again maybe it would be different at a less busy time of year. Overall it didn't meet my expectations from both a service and meal perspective but perhaps it was just an off night for them.
The staff went out of their way to accommodate our family. The food as always was great. Our children were a bit rambunctious and Stephanie our server was pleasant and efficient
The ambience is a bit dark. Need to add a few lights
Lobster was delicious !
Always love having dinner here !! One of our fav places to go in muskoka. The food is amazing and the service is great!
The service was disappointing. Water was empty. Drinks were forgotten and it took 45 to order. Food was good. But not any better then any other fine dinning. Mac and cheese was a disappointment as well. Mussels were outstanding. After sitting for over 2 hours, we had had enough waiting, so skipped dessert.
For a stakehouse we felt that the food was lacking some finishing touches. The lobster bisque, while tasty, needed some crostini bread. The dessert was the signature s'mores which was supposed to come with Graham crackers (crackers with an S) and it came with one small cracker. It was basically chocolate mousse! So those finer details were something we would expect to be present at a place like this. The main course was pretty good and hearty, but my husband asked for medium rare steak and he got medium. A stakehouse should never ever mess with steak doneness! Finally, we were seated away from the main restaurant, in what seemed like an "add on" on the side so we felt a little forgotten but then again it felt more intimate for my husband and and I. There were a few times I was left searching for our waiter to get a water fill up. So overall this $200 dinner didn't really meet our expectations based on what I described above.
Excellent meal as always had excellent service from Les Jones are we always do. . Very enjoyable Friday evening. Highly recommended
The current menu provides good variety of both starters and mains. Not sure if there is a new chef but the food was way better than our previous experience. We had octopus salad and shrimp cocktail as starters and steak and venison as mains. The venison was perfectly cooked and tender. We had a discount card which made the price reasonable...None of the desserts really appealed to us so we didn’t try any.
Really excellent food in a charming atmosphere. Very attentive service.
Great steaks. Very slow service. Brought out 1 to 2 entrees at a time for a party of 8. Took forever to get order in. One steak ordered medium came out quite rare. But food overall very good as were desserts.
It was a fun night. We were celebrating our anniversary and we were greeted accordingly from the start.
The ambiance was joyful
The food was mediocre far less than we expected. We ordered Cesar salad which was different and quite good. The potato gratine were delicious and the steak was quite good but the lamb was a huge disappointment. The braised lamb was so old that tasted as if it had been braised the week before. The rack of lamb made up for it.
The best of the evening was the service especially the service provided by our waiter Leslie. He was exceptional and accommodated to the problems we encountered beyond the call of duty. He saved the evening!
The kitchen was very accommodating with my special dietary needs. The service was excellent!
Great ambience. Lovely service and delicious meal.
The food was topnotch including delicious mussel and a perfectly cooked beef tenderloin.
Wine list was solid. Prices are definitely resort level.
Ambience is lacking. This is in the same building as the pro shop for one of the resort's golf courses. It was a obvious they converted the 19th hole to a steakhouse. Needs work.
Service was friendly and adequate but not attentive.
Slow service. Requested steak MR got it rare/blue. Sides & appetizers were good though!
We were in Muskoka for our honeymoon and spent the day at the AMBA Spa at Deerhurst so we were looking for somewhere special to have dinner. Despite some mixed reviews on Yelp for the Antler Steakhouse, we still liked what we saw. Are we ever glad we went with our instincts because dinner was fantastic. On our server's recommendation we shared the 40oz Tomahawk Steak, cooked to *perfection*, slightly underseasoned but accompanied by your own salt to season to taste, which was a nice touch. The demi glace was stellar, not too salty but full of flavour, and our sides were great. The asparagus was cooked and seasoned perfectly, and the potatoes were good too.
We had the strawberry romanoff and the chocolate cake for dessert, both excellent. Our only complaint was that they knew we were sharing the steak but it came out on a huge carving board and they didn't give us any plates to eat off of other than the small bread plates on the table. And bread served at the table would have been nice, I've never been to a steakhouse where they don't offer complimentary bread. We could've ordered some but by that point our food had already arrived. Overall, five star experience. Very impressed by the location, price, quality, and value. Especially for an upscale resort in $$$ Muskoka. Highly recommended!
The Antler Steakhouse was amazing. We had the famous Tomakawk Steak which did not disappoint. Our server was very friendly and the wine list was also great. I highly recommend!
