The Bakers Arms
Went with family on a Tuesday evening lovely table by the fire plenty of space as we had a dog. Excellent service and great food.
Lovely roast dinner! My husband had all 3 meats and I had the crab thermidor, delicious and authentic, a local gem.
Best Sunday lunch for miles
Service was excellent- professional, friendly and efficient. Portion size of meat for main course was very disappointing, 1 small single beef rib for £17.95 does not represent good value for money. Desserts- chocolate brownie and cheese board were very good. Wine by the bottle, prices a little on the high side. We had bread and olives for a starter to share which was a nice introduction to the meal. Not the best meal we have had here, but overall we enjoyed our evening.
Very good service. Food was good but just a little short of level expected given previous excellent reviews. Would return but choose different items.
Brilliant as usual! Never disappoints!!! Our favourite restaurant! Thank you!
We went for lunch for a friend's birthday. The friend is a very good cook, and very particular about what she eats. She had Dover sole, which she said was cooked perfectly. My other friend had the pork loin, also said it was excellent. i had a starter, sweet potato and chestnut tart- the filling was nice though the pastry was a tad overcooked and too flaky to cut properly, still good though.Service was excellent, and the atmosphere warm and cheerful
I thought the food was very nice to be fair, and I like the location and interior of the pub.
For me though, eating here at lunch time on a week day, for most of the main meals to be priced around £18 it just seemed extremely over priced.
The drinks were expensive also at over £5 a pint, and I just think that being that this is a country pub rather than a proper restuarant I don't think it is appropriate to charge such rates for food & drink.
If i'm going to end up paying a fair bit of money i'd rather go to Jamie Oliver/Gordan Ramsey restaurant or somewhere similary upmarket.
We booked on line and were called by the team to check we’d be ok with a road side table and we were so happy we took a risk. The quality of the food and service meant we hardly noticed the road, and the team went out of their way to do something slightly off menu and cater for a gluten free guest. It was worth the drive and it was a wonderful visit.
The best Sunday lunch I've had in a long time! We were hoping to have a desert but there was just so much for the main meal. Crispy roast potatoes, at least 7 vegetables and delicious gravy and sauce. We'll be back
Excellent service great food one of my favourite pubs
Very good food went on a Thursday lunchtime service excellent would recommend
Very enjoyable lunch!
Everyone enjoyed themselves.
Having recently found The Baker's Arms, it has firmly become our first choice to eat out. The food is superb, service is excellent and it has a gorgeous real fire. What's not to like? It makes my tummy smile.
Every meal at the Bakers Arms is exceptional, especially Sunday roast. The pub is so cosy with excellent and friendly service. The roast dinner is the best we have had, so many unusual vegetables, excellent meat and different gravy for each meat , amazing.
It had been a few years since last I was there. I will definitely be going again soon.
Lovely lunchtime catch up with an old friend, perfect vegan burger for me and normal for them. The atmosphere can’t be helped due to so many restrictions and it was very quiet for a Saturday lunchtime - but then perfect for two people with bad hearing 😀
Tasty lunch - bouillabaisse soup was delicious. Staff were careful, tables spaced, all precautions etc. Hope to visit again soon.
Fantastic food, great service, lovely environment. Well worth a visit.
A relaxed atmosphere ; excellent friendly service; and the dishes were as described on the menu and quite delicious. We would definitely like to dine here again
For all the awards the food was good but average and not worth the money
Table for two Sunday roast service was excellent and the food was phenomenal. Best roast dinner in the south. We will be back again
Such a wonderful pub and restaurant! The food is so fantastic (5 stars!) and the staff are wonderful. Such a friendly place too.
I never write reviews but you truly deserve this. Thank you.
Lovely food good service really nice choice of dishes. Would def go again if in the area
We had a lovely meal, service was excellent. Mussels were lovely as was the burger. Warm bread and olives were a real treat. Will definitely visit again.
Excellent service. Main course very good but could have been hotter. Covid measures excellent with reassuring level of compliance. Overall very pleasant experience.
Fabulous Sunday roast, excellent selection of beers on draft, extensive well-priced wine list and delightful staff. What more could you ask for?
Loved it. The Sunday lunch was delicous. We will be returning.
Food was tasty, though no seasoning on cauliflower. However food was luke warm. This happened last time we had Sunday roast. We didn't mention it to staff, as it was mother-in-laws birthday, and didn't want to spoil her birthday.
Doing a great job.
A very good location for a family get together. Good value for money and excellent service.
Always a great place to eat and drink. Lovely country village pub 😊
Sunday dinners here are amazing. Would definitely recommend
A wonderful family sunday lunch, great food and lovely little garden in the sun.
We enjoyed a delightful meal for the start of our holiday. The fish soup was excellent, as was the steak. Three of us enjoyed the crab thermidor. The staff were very attentive and friendly and happy to give advice. Already booked for the last night of our holiday.
very nice staff and the fish was good . the burger is not as good as pre lock down
will return as it is usually good value with a nice atmosphere
Very nice lunch. Nice selection of dishes and gluten free alternatives
This was a repeat visit and again the food and service were very good.
4th visit, excellent as usual. Good range of local beers, nice glass of prosseco. Baked camenbert was good, Pidgeon, Pancetta & Mushroom pie was amazing. Already booked to go back for Sunday Lunch.
From the moment we entered the pub our experience was really enjoyable. From the warm welcome to the excellent food and service we received nothing was too much trouble. Thank you and I hope many more customers benefit from coming to the Bakers Arms in the future.
