The Barrel Room
Went there for date night again. Fantastic deal - 2 entrees and a bottle of wine for $50. Food was excellent. Wife had chicken parmigiana and I had the shrimp elote salad. There are a number of red and white bottle choices. We had the Tencent Pinot, which was great.
The food is amazing, prices reasonable, nice casual setting !
waitresses were very good. several tables were open but they tried to seat us at the worst one - by the door to the patio. will ask for patio next time because of the noise level. food is very good - will go for Sunday Brunches and also lunch or dinner once a week.
Great outside dining area and perfect for a Sunday brunch. Great food, great coffee and very friendly service!
Great food and wonderful service. Inside The Barrel Room it was noisy, but the outside patio room was quiet and relaxing.
I have always liked The Barrel Room, so invited my card group to meet there for brunch on Sunday. Our waitress was very personable & efficient. The disappointment was the food. Only 2 of the 8 were pleased with the good. My Cobb salad did not have a crispy lettuce base & therefore was soggy as it was over dressed. The person who was most pleased was one who ordered French onion soup. In general, our food was médiat best.
We had reservations and we were seated immediately upon arrival. The food was fantastic and the service was wonderful. Every time we dine here the selection is great and we have never had a bad experience in the 3 years we have been coming here.
Great place to hold a brief business lunch and a fabulous server- Chuck!!!
We had a lovely lunch on the patio. My salmon was perfectly prepared. We were very happy with our meals & service.
We will definitely be back.
We had a lovely meal with some wine. When we were seated, the manager wished my mom and I a happy birthday. We also told our server we shared the same birthday. Our salmon was delicious, but our server forgot my mom’s glass of wine for over five minutes. And then, when it came time for dessert, there was no happy birthday. We ordered dessert anyway, and did not enjoy the denseness of the Carmel crumble cake. It was taken off of our bill, but we were disappointed no one remembered our birthday for dessert anyway. Overall, it’s about the people you’re with and it was a great meal as well. Just a tad disappointing.
Took a friend for a birthday lunch. Food was great, service was excellent, recommended glass of wine completed the meal. Lunch was good value for the money, wine was a little on the high side. Would definitely go back.
The onion soup is among the best I have ever had. My ravioli was excellent, with plenty of flavorful sauce.
The Barrel Room is a very nice restaurant with its cozy feeling in the main room. The portions were good size and the flavor was very good. Everyone in our group felt the same.We will definitely come back
The quality of our salads was mediocre - they looked dull, sad and uninteresting.
Really good food and a good value. Highly recommend.
I was glad I made a reservation. My party arrived just before they were opening and there was already a line forming to have lunch. The service was very good and prompt. Three members of my party had the sandwiches and they thought they were pretty tasty.
This is a nice place to come to lunch with your friends.
We dined after and before typical rush hours, so this review may not be typical (this was the Rancho Bernardo Barrel Room, and I'm pretty sure it gets busy!). But for a lovely late afternoon lunch with friends, it was delightful. We each enjoyed a panini (mine was the Caprese and it was amazing) and shared a bottle of a medium-bodied Chardonnay, which was not priced too high. Service was excellent, food arrived promptly, the room was quiet and pleasant. A lovely lunch with friends!
The restaurant has a very nice variety of food selections both appetizers and entrées. The wine selection is second to none in the entire San Diego area. They particularly have a wonderful selection of wines by the glass! Most restaurants have all of their good wines sold only by the bottle but this is not the case with this restaurant. Unlike many restaurants that call themselves wine bars etc. this is truly a wine enthusiast Dining favorite. Great ambiance and service.
Such a wonderful, cozy place to meet up with friends. Good food, good service. We will be back!
This was our first time dining with them. The service was good and our server was very attentive, which we appreciated. I was not happy with the entrée I ordered; it was way over salted. Staff were quick to respond and offered me another entrée, which I enjoyed the next day for lunch. If I have one critique to offer, it would be to not rely on a balsamic glaze.
Lunch with my BFF. We agree on the great food, the ambience, especially sitting on the patio. Thanks to Charlie for making our lunch Perfect.
Fantastic every time!!
Lunch was great and service was pleasant.
Love that Barrel Room now has a Sunday Brunch; and the Eggs Blackstone are wonderful! If you order dessert, skip the beignets (they don't remotely taste or resemble beignets). Go for the flourless chocolate cake instead!
Friends from high school that we haven’t seen each other in 35 years!
This was an overdue payback of a bet on a hockey game two years ago! We owed my brother a dinner and this was us finally getting together. Dinner was great...food and service both excellent. We sat on the patio because inside the restaurant is very, very loud. Everyone enjoyed their dinners, and we will definitely return!
Very Noisy, food was good, service good, wine excellent.
This restaurant is bar-like on the inside with an outdoor tent in strip-mall sort of feel. Very meh! The food was decent, but didn't hold its weight dollar-for-dollar. Fine, but average.
The food was good. My husband ordered the lamb but they did not have any mint sauce to go with it.
My salad had a shrimp skewer with lettuce. It could have had more green chilis and avocado. Maybe add pepitias (green nuts) as well to enhance the salad. Everything else was good. The Zinfandal we ordered was excellent! Thank you.
Second time there and the food was great. Our table was by the door to outside seating. A lot of traffic and noise. Probably would ask for a different table next time. The server was good. Definitely will be a reaper customer.
Visited the Barrel Room for Mothers Day Brunch. We unfortunately got the 4 top next to the front door and it was cold every time someone would come in. Pretty much had the normal menu with one special for Mother's Day. No Vegan options. Service was OK, needed to ask for silverware, salt & pepper. Reasonable pricing and food was tasty for Pub fare.
Great little restaurant, with good food and a vibrant atmosphere
Excellent food and service! Was seated on time. Ordered the pork specialty and scallops. Delicious!
The food was wonderful. The server worked exceptionally hard. I'm not fond of a noisy atmosphere, so i may return earlier in the evening.
We stopped here after golf, and our table was waiting. Great service. The food was surprisingly elegant for a wine bistro. We shared the crabcake, which was served on a bed of grilled onions and mushrooms, with a citrus aioli. Not your typical overly breaded crabcake. Plenty to share and full of tasty crab. Delicious. My husband had the scallops, and although a bit gritty, they were beautiful, and cooked to perfection. I had the Cajun lamb chops, and they were chewy, but delicious, although I think the Cajun flavoring is too strong for such a delicate meat, I did enjoy the dish.
the only item that i would recommend would be that the server bring a clean new plate for our breakfast after we ate the beigents. And that after we ate she clear the table while we paid the bill
The only place of its kind along the I-15 corridor. It's so great to have this in the neighborhood. Great wine selection (better than most wine bars), really good food and fantastic service. (Thanks, Charlie!) For a nice night out if you're in Scripps, Poway, RB, Penasquitos, you can't beat it.
Tried the Barrel Room for the first time for my birthday. The good and service was excellent. Definitely worth a return visit.
Interesting menus good change of pace restaurant for Sunday lunch.
Good food, attentive service, a little pricy.
