food was terrible. They served the starters and main course together and the halibut was dry and fishy and gross
Everything was pretty good, except for drink orders took too long. They were removed from the bill. Lighting too dim inside restaurant too.
Food was excellent- service was awesome- We will return
Excellent food and service. Romantic ambience, nice vibe. Would definitely go back.
Staff very friendly as well. Great wine selections.
food was horrible
Went here for a birthday dinner. Food was good! Drinks were mediocre and hastily prepared. Our glass had a lip stick stain on it. Salad and entree arrived at the same time. When asked for wine which was ordered with the dinner the waitress said - it might not happen since the bar was really busy! Overall, overpriced for the experience. Would not visit again. Sorry!
Lovely brunch and ample seating (in case you don’t want to eat inside) on their beautiful outdoor patio and in front with umbrellas.
We had a reservation, showed up on time and were seated right away. Sat for 20 minutes before someone came to our table and that was the theme of our dinner. Apps came, we had no silverware, plates or napkins. Wait staff nowhere to be found. Ordered a filet, when food came no steak knife, asked for one and waited, waited, waited. Ordered desert, no silverware. Should have hoarded my fork from dinner shame on me. Let the person bringing desert know that we had no silverware. Waited waited waited. Starred at my empty drink glass most of dinner.
Specifically booked this restaurant cause it advertised live music. They asked if we wanted to sit inside or outside. We told them we came for the live jazz advertised and wanted sit near the music. They said we’ll give you the best seat for music. THERE WAS NO LIVE MUSIC!!!! Best seat was in the corner where the bar tender waited on us and said she had little experience waiting tables...
Food was good and the place was amazing. Horrible service. Booked this place cause of the reviews. Heavily disappointed.
Our bartender who helped us was awesome! Super attentive and didn’t miss a beat! Thank you!!
Great service, nice seat outside, road noise a little loud but we expected that when we chose our seat, distancing was more our focus. Food was very good. Excellent salad, and very flavorful roasted cauliflower small plate. My husband and son enjoyed the short rib dinner. Craft cocktails were interesting and delicious, and of course the wine list is amazing!
The food was absolutely delicious! We started with the cheese & charcuterie board. It was so good! The homemade jams were delicious and complemented the meat to perfection! And let me tell you about the Lobster Rangoon!! Holy moly, was it tasty! They are all handmade, the outer layer is so light and crispy and the lobster inside is a warm, melted surprise!
One of us got the house favorite, braised short ribs and as always, DID NOT DISAPPOINT!! I don't know if the secret ingredient is extra love, but these short ribs are a must every time we visit!! The kids split the filet and instead of au gratin, they got the whipped potatoes (au gratin's are good, the whipped are outta sight!) Meat was cooked to perfection and the plates were licked clean!
The wine was tasty and we never were without water, even got fresh glasses halfway through the meal.
But the showstopper of the evening was the service, provided by the best in the business - Eddie! He is always attentive, as well as funny, charming and on top of it all! He is so much fun to sit with, super knowledgeable and always smiling!
We sat outside, not on the patio (which is fabulous) but their new seating on the sidewalk. It was a great atmosphere, the placed was responsibly distant but also full of other hungry diners looking to support their local restaurant. We will be back!!
We have been here many times. Always enjoyed ourselves.
Our waiter Eddie was the best!
Love coming here but usually for the live music and indoor atmosphere. We got to enjoy the patio this time and it was quite lovely. Music and lights were just right and we loved our corner area -still social distance approved. Great cocktails and appetizers as always. One of our favorite places for sure!
service was amazing & so was the food
Steak was cooked improperly twice. Staff were somewhat helpful but kind of condescending.
OMG! Order the salmon with artichokes, falafel mini-waffle, and olive tapenade. Delicious! Love that Vinotecca has half-portion orders. I never feel stuffed, but truly enjoy the food and service. One thing - they need to remove wines that are no longer available. Our waitress did bring two others to sample. Well done, as these were good choices.
Absolutely fabulous experience from start to finish! They handled the quarantine so professionally and it was such a treat to be out to dinner!! Appetizers and entrées & even cocktails were absolutely spot on and wonderful service!!!
Food was blah and on our cheese and meat board the cheese was moldy.
Eric was great! Food was amazing!
Met an old friend I havent seen in years. We were able to catch up & enjoy a great dinner with awesome drinks!
Delicious brunch with the girls on a Saturday in the winter
Our group received excellent service from Eddie and the beef short ribs in the steak & eggs was delicious!!!
This was the worst service experience I’ve ever had in my life. First of all I made the reservation a month prior to February 15th to celebrate my birthday. When I get there they tell us that they can’t seat my party yet which was 15 people. We were standing in the rather narrow entryway waiting for them to clear tables for us to sit down. I kept having to ask when we were going to be seated finally after 45 minutes. We all sat down frustrated and had our waiter come over to take our beverage orders. It took him 20 to 30 minutes to bring us back our beverages. At that point many of us were annoyed and it was getting later and nobody really wanted to eat because it was so late. Now mind you my reservation was at 8pm they did not take our food order until 10 PM, many of us were extremely frustrated and annoyed which rightfully so. We finally received our food and the portions were so small they might as well have been the appetizers. Most of us scarfed our food in two bites. We were still hungry & asked the waiter to bring us bread at 11 o’clock. It took another 30 to 45 minutes for them to simply bring us bread. I complained to the general manager & he apologized to me. He said he would do something for me to make up for it. I said fine & sat down. So with all this chaos happening and the management knowing that I was visibly frustrated with the poor service another table behind us received a warm happy birthday celebration from the wait staff. Imagine going through all that my party & I went through, & the restaurant not even being kind enough or cognizant enough to celebrate my birthday as well, but they did it to the table behind us. I was upset I went to speak to the general manager again & he gave me a $25 gift card to use for my dinner that night or in the future. I ordered surf and turf so I’m sure you can imagine that that did not even cover a sizable portion of my meal. I will never come to this restaurant again they have no care for BLACK guests.
Awesome staff, great vibe and crowd. They work very hard to make sure you have a great time.
Great food, great jazz! We ended up going during restaurant week, which reintroduced us to the location. I will be back.
We went primarily for the music. The set up for the group was pure amateur night, poor sound system, a stage platform that wobbled, and pounding hip-hop in the background. They did turn off the hip-hop for the first set, but it was clearly audible in the second set, coming from what they said was a private party in the back room. The music was great for those of us who listened to it, but many of the close in tables preferred their own company to the entertainment.
The service was attentive and communicative, although our server did participate more than we would have liked in the ongoing conversations at other tables. The food was mostly very good. Certainly it was prepared with care and respect. Not liking it was more a matter of personal preference than a comment on the quality. The wine list is extensive and what we had was very good. Maybe there could be more wines by the glass. The whiskey pour was generous.
Wonderful service and food
Another amazing experience. Took on of my best friends out for his birthday. We had Eddie as always, who is a credit to his profession and one of the best servers I have ever had. He never rushed us, he knew when to come and check on us and had great suggestions. We started with the charcuterie which was perfectly paired. Then moved on to their house salad that had a a great homemade ranch dressing that was clean and Devine. For the main course had their mushroom ravioli that was light and not covered in sauce allowing you to taste the wild mushrooms. They were so nice and made my friend a beautiful dessert to celebrate his birthday. I couldn’t have asked for a better server, better food or a better place. This is my go to restaurant when in Birmingham. You have to go.
Resturaunt was busy. Not enough staff. Was brought one drink and waitress did not come back to the table for an hour. We wanted to order dinner. Ended up leaving.
I am so sorry that you did indeed catch us on an unusually busy Tuesday night that left us a bit short-handed and scrambling. We always expect a good crowd for the The Blue Water Kings Band Showcase events, but this night resulted in double our norm and over 100 guest in 1 hour. I assure you that your experience was an isolated incident and does not represent the high quality food and service that we give our community. We hope that you will give us a chance!
I love this place and hadn’t been in a while. Decided to go here on NYE and again on this date.
The food was phenomenal!!! Only complaint was that they ran out of a feature dessert on NYE. Other than that everything was spectacular!
Went for pre-movie happy hour. Had generous glass of wine (1/2 off) and split 5 appetizers. Food and wine were really good, abundant servings and great service. Would definitely go back!
The menu is well conceived but lacks execution. The food was well presented but generally bland, lacking the “wow factor” of a truly memorable meal. Service ranged from very attentive to almost non-existant. Wouldn’t go out of my way to dine here again but a fabulous place to grab a drink and hear some of Detroit’s best live music.
New Year’s Eve dinner - early before the crowd
With only four enteees and four apps on the menu, they should have come out hot, not Luke warm
Great service with wonderful food! We love going to Vinotecca for dinner.
Best waitress ever, Jen is great!
When we first walked in, we stood at the host table for a very long time by ourselves. When someone finally did come over, she was clearly in a bit of a crisis and while she did acknowledge us, it was basically "I'll be right back". Eventually someone else came over and apologized for our wait and sat us. Unfortunately we were sat in the back room where a group of six VERY loud people were also sat. If you're stuck back there with loud people, it kind of ruins dinning out. The food and drinks were good and served quickly and it was great that we could order half portions (light eaters!). If we go back, though, we'll avoid that room.
The waiter is way too aggressive. Every time. And the band is way too large and too loud for that space. Those two things will cause me to not come back. And I’ve given this place numerous tries. Such a shame.
My wife and I are consistent return customers! The food is always great and the wine selection is superb. The service we have is always top notch especially with Eddie Winkler. He always makes sure we have everything we need and is such a fun interaction at the restaurant, he makes our dinner night so much fun.
Top notch food, great atmosphere, and amazing staff!
Presentation of food was excellent. 2/3 at the table was served food undercooked to what was ordered- but taste was fine. Had split servers and one was fantastic and chill and the other was a tad too much and overbearing. Band playing was excellent. Price for quality was on point. Overall experience was very good. Recently attended a wine tasting and food presentation and quality for larger parties was outstanding.
Eddie made our brunch a wonderful experience and the food was delicious!
