Food and service was great.

Love the Boathouse at City Point! My only feedback is the drinks. Even though they are superb, they are over the top expensive.

Ordering on the phone takes away from the experience. Would like to get back to ordering with the wait staff.

Second time in row getting the waitress Amanda. If you happen to get her just know she won’t come to the table not one time.

Helpful server and lovely scenery. My broiled seafood was perfect.

Using the app on your phone to order was cumbersome and tedious. Service was poor, and the whole experience lacked warmth and hospitality. It was hard to swallow an automatic 20% gratuity for subpar service. Food was average, at best. A word of advice, ask for extra glasses of water or a pitcher upfront because you will not be getting a refill. I can only guess that the view might have been alright, but we were seated too far away to see it. Personally, I will not return until COVID conditions change sufficiently to allow for a more normal dining experience.

It was a really nice place but the COVID ordering wasn’t great and nobody around to ask questions. Beautiful deck area overlooking river, can’t wait to return post-COVID.

Very awkward dining with on-line ordering system and inadequate space to provide instruction on preference (no ice, etc). The food was tasty but not what we’d hoped.

Didn’t like the part where you order off your phone and had to pass it around the table and then pay with tip beforehand. Over priced with the little amount of food that was served for a seafood platter. Very disappointed because we’ve been going out to help restaurants during this time and we won’t be back till changes are done

First this is WOW! Definitely returning. My family and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at the boathouse. Walking up to the restaurant it looks very modern but when you walk into the front the hostess greets you and suddenly it turns into a place that feels like home. Our waitress was Amanda. Amanda is well versed with any question you may have. The chefs in the kitchen create magic with the meals they serve!

Even understanding the current situation the service was really poor, looking constantly for the waiter to pick up plates, asking for the cutlery and for the next plates of food. Table was not ready, the time for the food and desert was all wrong.

The total experience for the Santa brunch was excellent but there were just a couple of things that didn't work too well. One of the children just wanted a muffin but it came as a small dry muffin with scones and biscuits that were also very dry. She ended up eating some of her brother's food. The weather was certainly nothing that could be controlled but our table was directly in a path of rain water flowing through the tent. Perhaps a system could be devised to prevent the rain from entering the tent from the area near the parking area? That is why I gave the lower rating for ambience. Staff members had to continually clean the rain water which made it hard for the staff but very disturbing for many of the diners. I've eaten at the Boathouse several times and always had a wonderful experience but this one just didn't live up to your good reputation. Maybe offer one larger less dry muffin also? We just brought the entire order home for the bird feeding area.

I had never been here before but was told it was good and it definitely was. They told us up front they weren't interacting as much to avoid contact as much as possible. They still came to check on us every once and a while. The food was amazing with large portions, the view was awesome, and prices were fair. 10/10 reccomend, I definitely will be coming back!

Not impressed with the food for the money. The broiled seafood platter literally came with 2 shrimp 2 scallops and a crab cake. The chicken Chesapeake was not very flavorful at all.

In the past, I have truly enjoyed The Boathouse and have eaten at a number of them repeatedly. This visit did not live up to the past experiences. While I recognize life is different with Covid, the limited interaction with the staff was excessive. All food and drinks had to be ordered via a mobile app. This caused the bill to be split when I wanted it to be mine alone. The food was good but over priced. I paid $42 for one non-alcoholic beer, small side salad, grilled salmon with cauliflower pieces in a bourbon sauce. The tip was automatically included at 20% which, given I had to send the order to the kitchen directly, seemed a bit high. May be time to find a new go-to restaurant in Richmond or wait to see if The Boathouse post-covid is back to its normal level.

The COVID restrictions kind of hinder the experience. The menu experience of online ordering being the only option is not very user friendly and is driving away older individuals who are not so tech savvy, just my thoughts. I was able to get through it, but I have messed up on it in the past, there should be an option to place a conventional order, perhaps with a printed menu which could be thrown away after use.

It was great except the new COVID world rules....diners do everything but go to the window and pick up food. We didn't get dessert because I didn't want to go through the ordering and paying again on the phone before getting the food. Not all restaurants are following this model, which does not appeal to me personally. But again was great otherwise.

Loved the interior and that they were ready for us on time for such a last min reservation. Everyone was extremely pleasant and they followed safe protocols. Husband enjoyed his meal. We had to track down staff to refill my drink (only got one refill as a result). My French fries were old, cold, and salt less. Our crab dip had little to no crab in it. The food was ok but definitely would not pay what we did for what we recieved again. I am willing to pay quite a lot for a good meal this was slightly above drive thru quality so should be priced appropriately. Hated having to tip before services were in fact rendered.

Beautiful evening for a dinner by the river!! Reservations were easy to make. Ordering was all online which took a little away but overall great time

Mom was in town so I treated her to the Boathouse. Her very large plate had 4 Scallops on it with not sides. $28.50 for 4 Scallops is pretty expensive. I was embarrassed.

The staff at this Boathouse location is always accommodating and helpful. And the view is perfect.

Our overall experience was nice. Food was very good with the exception of my side salad. Very dark, unappealing, and to much vinaigrette; not worth the price. I let our table captain know but there was no offer to replace it or remove the cost. Service was professional but spotty unless we ordered something on the app.
I would recommend to friends but definitely caution them.

The food was phenomenal. It is on the pricier end, but it is absolutely worth it. Great experience.

The Boathouse uses a safe contactless ordering system from the table - scan a QR code, view the menu, add comments/requests, and pay with a card. The food and drinks arrive quickly. Staff check on us regularly. Tables are set apart. The staff all wear masks and gloves. My husband is high risk but feels comfortable and safe dining here. You’ll need someone at the table who can navigate online ordering, but once you get the hang of it, it’s like being in more control of your safe dining experience.

We went here for Thanksgiving Dinner it was ok. For the price it should have been fantastic. The service was great and so was the atmosphere. Then we were told they were only doing turkey dinners tonight. That was disappointing but ok it’s thanksgiving will go with it. Then what we got for the price was so disappointing $19 for children’s meal that was Kraft Mac & cheese and fries. $44 for soup salad and turkey dinner. When we got our pie it was cold. For those prices I should of had a steak dinner. Or at the very least it should have been the best turkey I had in my entire life.

Best restaurant in Hopewell and Petersburg. Great view of the Appomattox and James rivers. Delicious food and friendly staff.

The 20% “service fee” to get less service and pay and tip ahead of time was unacceptable! This is not a good business practice and we will Not be back because of this! If this is how you decide to treat customers during these times then good luck to you! You’re going to need it!

Overall, a very good experience. The service was acceptable, food was mediocre, and the ambiance was great.

Excellent food and a beautiful place for a special occasion or just a nice night out.

The problem I had was with the service. After we finished our meal, we waited 30 minutes for someone to address that we were waiting for dessert. When no one came, we decided it was time for us to go. We went to the hostess, let her know we were leaving but wanted our dessert to go. It took another 10 minutes for them to get our dessert, and all that was said was “I seen the dessert on the ticket; I’m not sure why no one brought it out to you; I am sorry.”

After spending 215$, I expected better.
