The Brasserie at The Courtney Room

Lovely evening out, quiet atmosphere and food was good. Took a longer time than expected for our main course to come to the table after our appetizers. Steak was very tasty but tough chewing. Arancini was amazing, as was the fried chicken. The pasta could use more pizzazz. Overall, enjoyed our night out

Set menu for valentines and was looking forward to trying the steak on the menu. Unfortunately no deviations and nothing else available. In all fairness, I didn’t see this prior to my reservation on their website and was a little disappointed.
Staff were great and service was good, deducted a point as we had to ask multiple times for another drink. I didn’t like that staff were ironing table clothes next to me while eating food, not something I have ever seen before in an upscale restaurant.
The food lack flair and over priced for the medium quality, I am always happy to pay $$$$ for awesome taste and originality and the chef didn’t quite get there..
Over all I enjoyed my evening and happy we have lots of great restaurants in Victoria to try.

Too noisy and loud music didn't help. A number of items on the online menu were unavailable. The "cheese" board was ridiculous. 2 very small pieces of indifferent cheese and the unpleasantly sour and raw tasting fish pate did not belong. Very small portions for the price and compares poorly to other places in town serving cheese boards (with more cheeses, meats and pickles, e.g. The Collective, Oak Bay Beach Hotel. We won't be back.

The atmosphere was great, the happy hour wines were amazing and a great value, and the food was spectacular. The beef tartare was exceptionally good and the portion was extremely generous - definitely enough to share! Everyone at the table was so impressed, they're determined that we must go back - and soon!

I was surprised and pleased. I had been two or three time before to Courtney Room, once to dining room and twice to Brasserie, and was disappointed greatly on all occasions...but looks like something has changed...the food was interesting, tasty, well priced...arrived hot...service could have been better...
based on this experience I will return and would recommend Brasserie to friends, maybe next time I will try upstairs

We for happy hour burgers and fries chicken and we did not leave disappointed. Burgers were great and the chicken came with a good variety of hot sauces to try.

Fabulous meal for dine around. Went with 3 other friends and we each had an assortment of the appetizers, mains and desserts on offer and were all blown away. One of the best meals I've ever had in Victoria.

I have always had wonderful experiences at The Courtney Room, and this visit was no exception. This is one of my favourite places to bring people travelling to Victoria because I can always trust that the drinks, food, and service will be outstanding.

Beautiful room. Good service. Menu is a bit odd. The rack of lamb had 3 chops - maybe better referred to as a half rack of lamb? Delicious, even if it was smaller than expected. My pasta dish was unusual - fermented almonds - not something I would ever make at home - so glad I tried it!

Thought we would give it a try because it is highly rated. Found the atmosphere pretentious. A lot of staff doing a fine job, but, in a small city like Victoria, you don't need a server and an under-server to pour the water and clean the table. So, to pay for the pretentious environment, they must have high prices to cover the costs. staff and food were OK, but the room looked quite sterile to us.

Shelagh was an absolute treasure along with everyone else. Once again the service was delightful. Love the tea timers, 10/10. The Caesar salad and crème brûlée were simply perfect for my late lunch.

I had the Crab Benny and it was the best benny I have ever had. Great surroundings and wonderful server. Thought the Mimosa was over priced for the size. We only got half a flute of prosecco and the tiniest splash of juice. Felt short changed. Also restaurant didn't appear to have my reservation even though I had comfirmation and two reminders from Opentable. Luckily it wasn't too busy so it wasn't a problem.

All staff, hostess through to wait/bartender fantastic.

The Courtney Room is well regarded and rightly so. The staff was friendly and efficient, the food interesting, delicious and well presented. The room is nice and the seating comfortable. Hard to fault in any way. Perhaps the music is a little loud but it’s the vibe they’re looking for. If you’re looking for a quieter space the dining room is right upstairs. We’ll definitely be back.

The lamb loin was well prepared but there was only 2 slices. The vegetable were unremarkable. The non-alcoholic drink that was recommended, was excellent. Our server was pleasant, knowledgeable, and efficient.

First time in the new Brasserie at The Courtney Room. Attentive, friendly service in a modern room with excellent music and a great vibe. We ordered items from the share plates menu and enjoyed each of the items. The cauliflower dish as excellent as was the hummus and the fried chicken. The staff reminded us about happy hour and we had drinks and food at excellent prices. Really enjoyed it and will return.

We love the Courtney room so much that we ate there 3x a day for 3 days. The burger is to die for!

A good restaurant. We had the fresh fish of the day and the mussels. Both very good. They offer bread (baguette) . The service is good. would recommend

Stopped in for a local meal on our seaboard/land-based adventure and would recommend to any weary foodie traveling in the region!

I'm not sure if this is a review of The Courtney Room or OPEN TABLE... it's actually a complaint that the restaurant felt was NOT their fault/responsibility. This reservation that I made through OPEN TABLE on Wednesday, August 28th (and received a confirmation email and then a confirmation text the day prior) the restaurant did not have the booking at all! The reservation was made for a Birthday celebration... luckily they were able to seat us but they insisted they did not have our original Open Table reso.
NOT VERY HAPPY WITH THIS SERVICE.

Went here for my birthday dinner, and could not have had a better experience. Chelsea was an amazing server, her wine pairing suggestions were great, and she knew the ins and outs of each dish to be able to make solid recommendations. Delightful wine list and a tasty menu. 10/10 would recommend.

Our dinner was outstanding! Loved the option of the more casual setting with our kids. The food does not disappoint. We loved our server. She was a delight and was fun to interact with. She went the extra mile for the kiddos. Be clear - the food is excellent and adult all around and their kid menu is a terrific option for those kids not wanting to experiment.

Mains were excellent, as was service. Dessert was a disappointment, but the restaurant took it off the bill when they saw plates unfinished. A very well-run, though pricey, restaurant.

Everything was perfect!

Delightful experience overall. Service was terrific (thanks Jacqueline) and the food was delicious. A bit disappointed that the kitchen ran out of halibut that evening but we were pleased that we could order from the dining room menu as well. Lots of buzz and we would definitely recommend this place.

Incredibly creative and delightful food, exquisitely served, in a gorgeous setting. Perfect for any dinner in which you want to impress.

This place has so much potential to be good and I went hoping to like it. It's not the first time I've been but it was the first time apart from Happy Hour for drinks and nibbles. The service was slow, our server either didn't know or care about what was on the menu. (When I asked what the Feature Pate was, his answer was "Pork".) The food was fine, in general, but my Short Rib Sandwich was mostly chunks of fat. The meat that I did get was tasty. There was no quality check while we were eating, and, honestly, I lost interest in trying to manage the table and salvage our experience. Overall, not good value and I'm not going back for anything more than drinks and snacks, but really, I can go anywhere for those.

The food was great, as was the service. The only reason I didn't rate as 5 stars in all categories is because they use a fragrance in the dining room. It is really strong and made me feel unwell. It is the only factor that would make me think twice about returning. That is really disappointing because I really enjoy the restaurant.

Great place to wine and dine your special someone or celebration

This is the first time my wife and I had dinner at Courtney Room base on the good reviews on TripAdvisor we decided on this restaurant. I do have to say I was kind of disappointed because food was not hot but was nicely plated and the steak I ordered was more medium than Medium rare however I don’t like to complaint so when server as me how everything was I said “good”. At the end of the meal I ask the server where would u recommend for happy hour oyster in Vic and he told me he doesn’t know because he is new to Vic but he told me he would ask others so I waited, when he came back after taking to his colleagues only place he recommended was their own happy hour oyster which cost $2/per oyster which I thought was no help.

Restaurant was fine, but even though we had booked under Open Table they claimed at the reception that they had no record of our booking. Luckily there was a table free, but this had never happened at any other restaurant using this app.

I had bones in my fish, which I've never experienced in any other restaurant. The food was OK. The place is very nice, clean, and pretty. I asked for a cozy table and indicated it was a date because I only see my BF once a week as we live in different cities... We ended up seated right next to another group of ladies and it was NOT cozy at all - I heard more of their conversation than ours.
