Excellent experience ! Restaurant was packed but service was perfect. Our server opened a special bottle that I had brought for our anniversary. I had the lamb loin medallions. My wife did the grilled trout. Both were outstanding !!! We will go back again. Cheers !
Food and service was outstanding, as usual. While this is our go-to place for special occasions we've come to be fans of Monday burger night as it is a word class burger but with other great options for those who want something else. 2 in the party had wonderful seafood dishes. Drinks and apps were also great, but they always are. Think I have a new favorite with the barrel-aged Old Fashion. We do miss the hush puppies and wish they would return to the app menu (please!)

Bull & Beggar’s monday night burger is the standard i hold all other burgers to and i have yet to eat anything remotely comparable... i used to come every week, i have moved in and out of town several times over the years, but i eat this soecial every chance i get. everyone who works at B & B is fabulous, and the atmosphere is cozy.

Exotic menu descriptions. Food was under flavored and over cooked. Not a great culinary adventure.
I have enjoyed every meal that I've had there. Our server for the last two visits was Sarah and she was friendly, funny, and knowledgeable about the both the dishes and wine.

Wife and I were in Asheville for a long weekend away. Were able to get a late reservation for dinner and ended up getting sat early which was great. Food was amazing. The lamb (not a regular menu item) was outstanding. Drinks and everything else were superb and priced fairly.
The four of us shared plates so we could try lots of different things. We got there at 5:30 so we could enjoy the happy hour - oysters. Delicious and b beautifully presented. The halibut, the filet, the beet salad, the butter lettuce salad and creamed spinach were all delicious. Yes, we ate a lot! We did not leave room for dessert, but will be back. As always, the service was perfect. This is a special place.
Best steak I've ever had in a restaurant. Excellent service. The price of the steaks was acceptable. The price on the raclette was entirely too much. I felt like it should be in a cardboard boat and purchased at a county fair for $6. Part of eating raclette is the presentation of scraping the cheese off the wheel. It tasted great but the portion was too small too. The portion of the tartiflette is too small also. Otherwise, an excellent meal and excellent service. Will return.
We hadn't been in several years and hoped the parking lot had improved. Why not have one lane in and out that is paved? Oysters were fine. Halibut in poached lobster broth was the saltiest dish I have had in recent memory and the whole dish was off because of it. Lamb shoulder was fine. Menu has been pared down and there weren't many choices. Disappointing.
We enjoyed our dinner at The Bull and Beggar! Serving sizes were fairly generous, flavors blended exquisitely and prices were very fair. The Charred Octopus was a bit bland and house chips a tad over cooked but tasty. The Halibut with Rutabaga was superb! Service and ambiance were excellent. We will definitely return :)
After we navigated the minefield that serves as the restaurant parking lot, the dining experience started off fine. The happy hour featured a good selection of oysters on special. We then had the octopus in Romesco sauce.The sauce was tasty but the piece of octopus served with it looked like it had been on a starvation diet. The “charcuterie” that followed was also a let down. A pate like rabbit concoction was it’s only saving grace. But the nail in the coffin came as the waiter declared the entree I had come to enjoy, leg of lamb roasted for hours, was taken off their Tuesday evening menu and not available. Why? “The beans to accompany the dish are not cooked to the chefs liking.” WHAT???
So serve me the lamb, forget the friggen beans! “O, no, he won’t allow that.”
I left, and this snooty chef can stuff the beans up............
We had a nice dinner until we received our bill. At first we didn't notice, but when we went to sign the credit card receipt, we noticed that they had added a 2% "kitchen appreciation" fee to our bill. We feel that this is completely inappropriate for a restaurant to do this, and almost amounts to extortion. We imagine that most diners do not even notice this additional charge. We're not even sure this is legal. We do not think we will return because of this. Of course, it says that you can ask that this fee be removed. So the diner must be inconvenienced having to wait for the staff person to remove the charge and bring the amended bill. We accept that we must tip our server; however, the restaurant should be paying the kitchen staff a living wage and customers should not be expected to supplement their wages. SHAMEFUL.
Atmosphere, food and service all were phenomenal making it a spectacular experience. Waiter new the menu well and every course was better than the next. Would go again in a heartbeat.

Great food! We normally eat at the bar here. We had table service this time because we were entertaining friends from out of town. Our table server wasn’t good at masking her disinterest in our experience.
Not sure if our table service experience was a one-off or a theme, either way we have more fun sitting at the bar here so we’ll continue that and just move larger groups to another venue.
Unbelievable!!! One word for this place. We have been 6 times and we live an hour and half away. But, every time we are going to Asheville we make sure to book our reservation a week or more in advance. A must. They stay booked. The food is unmistakable! One of a kind! It’s almost like art and very much appreciated by a ‘foodie’ like me. The ambiance is quaint and cozy and the service is superior every time. Don’t expect a fancy place which is part of the experience. You can dress up or you can be very comfortable. They love you either way! Expect to be overwhelmed by great service and food bliss. Don’t hesitate to visit because you won’t be disappointed. But, again make sure you reserve well in advance. Worth the trip every time!
Went here for my wife’s birthday- was never acknowledged we were celebrating anything. The menu was very seafood-centric so we ordered several seafood items- and our waitress made us feel like we were ordering “too much.” For $240+ we had some oysters, a lackluster seafood tower, a watery bisque, and a salad. The seating arrangement was very crowded, and the sanitation grade almost a B. Not what we were hoping for at all for that price point!!!
As always restaurant and service was excellent.
Fantastic food! Great bartender and great service. Our only complaint was the cheezy 80's music. We were thinking maybe it was supposed to be ironic but it was lost on us. We will definitely be back but hope for better tunes.
A nice low light high ceiling retro-industrial setting. The server was polite and efficient. We had a small appetizer of fresh raw oysters that were tasty. There are quite a variety of oysters choices and $1 off before 6pm. We also shared a small plate of charred octopus (in a romesco sauce and chimmichuri, Lima beans) that was excellent - tender and flavorful. My wife thoroughly enjoyed the trout amandine. I chose a duck confit and lamb sausage cassoulet. My dish was little dry and a little too salty. Overall a good dinner.

Completely unimpressed! We ordered onion soup, lobster rolls and a filet. The soup came out with a completely burnt bread on top. How the kitchen staff let it be served amazed me. The filet wasn’t even cooked enough to consider it rare. The flavor was lackluster and it was extremely tough. Definitely won’t give this place a second try. The only positives were the atmosphere and service

The food was HORRIBLE from the appetizer to the desert and I’m not a picky person. Food was warm then cold in spots. I felt like my fish had a stick of butter in the cold sauce on top. The menu looks impressive but we tried it all and was so disappointed since you plan to wine and dine and know it’s not going to be cheap. Will never go back 🤢
Always yummy food and fabulous service! Monday is burger night and those $10 burgers are fabulous.
