   We absolutely loved our evening of fine dining at The Bodmin Jail. The whole experience was a truly special event. From the welcome in the cocktail bar to the restaurant the staff were exceptional. We will definitely be going back.

   We had booked a table for 19.30 but were only seated at 19.55. We had a three course meal but it was 23.00 before we had finished. I assume that they were short-staffed but this is far too long - the service was not good and we had the impression that we (and others dining) were forgotten. We noticed that we might order and a table which ordered after us was served first - and vice versa. Not an enjoyable experience. I hope that it was a one-off set of circumstances but I don't see us returning.

   Decided to go to the chapel for afternoon tea to celebrate my mum’s birthday. We were not disappointed. The food was delicious - macarons were out of this world and staff were all very attentive. Thank you

    Fabulous, as always! Nina, our server, was delightful and so helpful. The food was excellent and the quiet surroundings suit my brother who is partially deaf. Noisy places are not enjoyable for him. We will return!

    Staff could do with some training. Table needed clearing of used glasses, wine glasses should have been taken away if guests not having wine etc. The staff themselves are very friendly but do need that extra polish on luxury service.

    Excellent food and the environment is unique. Our waiter was excellent. Attentive and friendly without being intrusive. Very knowledgeable about the food which helped us choose. It was my partners birthday and they kindly gave us a chocolate dessert with Happy Birthday on it which was so kind and delicious. We were full so did not order a dessert. However we managed to eat it all! It was a very quiet evening. There was just the two of us until we had nearly finished our meal when two other people arrived. However this is not the fault of the restaurant. It was mid January on a Tuesday evening so the fact that the food and the waiter did such a good job was also commendable. The bar person who greeted us was very friendly and had obviously tried the food as spoke about our choices if he had also enjoyed them. We will definitely return.

    The food was great, and the restaurant well presented, sadly this was let down by the service. Restaurant is trying to be something it's not. If you wish to provide a quality experience there needs to be better staff training. Nowhere to put coats, no dress code (some clients wearing jeans and trainers). As a couple we were seated next to a group of four celebrating a birthday, when there were plenty of empty tables. The waiter reached across my partner to serve his bread,without waiting for him to finish speaking to the waitress. The main course was served before the starter plates had been cleared. My partner saw the waiter come out of the kitchen with the mains, realise that our starter plates hadn't been cleared, he went back into the kitchen before coming and clearing our plates and serving the mains. After finishing our mains, we were asked if we wanted desert or coffee, but we didn't. We were then left and although we tried to get the attention of the staff for 40 minutes, we couldn't. During this time it would have been nice to have had another drink. Eventually a waiter came to the table next to us with their drinks, they complained to him that they hadn't had their main courses, they had arrived before us, and been served their starters at the same time as us. We took this opportunity to ask for our bill. There had been four members of staff plus the maître d working, and at the busiest time 28 clientele. Were served by three different staff members during our meal, your staff should have designated tables to enable them to concentrate on their customers and provide a quality service. In all we were disappointed.

    I took my husband to this restaurant for his 60th birthday. My husband and I had a fabulous meal. The staff were very friendly and polite. The food was excellent and very tasty. The ligh5 show and music were very fitting for the Chapel. We took our time and were not rushed as we wanted to enjoy the whole experience. We loved our cocktails in the cocktail bar before being taken to the restaurant. Would highly recommend this, especially for a special occasion.

    From the champagne and gin bar before going to the restaurant to the restaurant itself absolutely world class. I have an onion allergy and they catered for this above and beyond. 100% would return within a heartbeat !!!

    Jo was very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. The location is stunning and very comfortable. I would highly recommend having afternoon tea here. In comparison with other afternoon tea’s we’ve had I’d say all this lacks is the offer of additional sandwiches and different types of breads. However we weee treated to an impromptu tour of the hotel by Mark, which was amazing. We had a brilliant time here.

    Lovely setting but the food unfortunately let it down, the starter was nice but for main I had the pheasant which was as tough as leather, I couldn’t actually get a knife through some of it. For £48 for 2 courses I was expecting a lot better.

    From the moment you enter the prison you know it'll be a special evening. Starting with a great cocktail in the Champagne Bar before dinner, you then head into the Chapel for a fantastic meal. Food was excellent, and the service just as good. Priced really well too. Can't wait to go back.

    Everything about our time at the Jail was amazing. There was a warm welcome at the reception where we were directed up to the Champagne Bar before going into the Chapel. The bartender in the Champagne room was great and the cocktails tasted amazing every time. The room of the Chapel was stunning. You could still see a lot of the old architecture and the projector/light show on the ceiling was great and really added to the ambience. The waitress we had was excellent, explaining everything as she went and even giving her recommendation. The food was absolutely 10/10. We were worried that the small portions wouldn’t be filling but we all left fat and full. Yes it is a bit pricey, but for the level of food and service you get it’s absolutely worth it.
