The Charmant Restaurant
The special valentines menu was great. I tried things I wouldn’t have normally tried and it was all very good!
We had the world's best waitress. Cassie. My friend didn't want white wine paired with his food. Cassie was very accommodating
Lobster was overcooked and VERY fishy tasting. Our waiter asked us after each meal course how it was, except for the main course with the lobster. Other meal courses were not as described.
We had a beautiful sunset view looking towards the river. Started with a custom drink, mouth watering cheese curds, and wonderful meal. Had a yummy dessert that was just the right amount.
Always love dining here! Superb food and drinks, great service and a lovely dining atmosphere. There was live music in the bar area which was fun to hear towards the end of dinner. Everyone enjoyed themselves!
Great service & music !
I'm always pleased with food, staff and the atmosphere. The Charmant is a gem of Lacrosse!
I would definitely recommend the Charmant if you want to step up your dining experience.
Thank you for a Great experience!
Love this place!!
Everything from service to the food is always 5 star !
A hidden gem
Friendly staff, food was quite good. Some whisky was a bit high priced. Good area and I appreciated that they allowed you time to sit and enjoy rather than rushing you through your meal
Great place to stop in for breakfast, latte , frittata and Fresh greens!
Menu was hit and miss. Could have used more nonbeef items. That said short rib was amazing. Popcorn shrimp was tasty but the popcorn, guac and grilled shrimp do not really go together. Service was attentive but needed more training.
Would go back.
We haven't been here for a couple years and I'm so glad we decided to go again. The food was amazing!
Food was good. No bread basket or salad. Pricey for what you got. Not going back at those prices and without salad or bread included. Other nice restaurants in town include these!
The Charmant never disappoints! My favorite meal to go for is brunch. I love the Croque Madame. The coffee drinks are delicious. The service is top notch. If you do go in the evening or feel like a "day drink", the bartenders will definitely make you something delicious or help with your wine pairing. Or, if you want a beer, they have that, too. I'm also a big fan of their desserts and they might actually have the best cheese curds in town.
We enjoy their brunch and our server was a delight. The Mississippi plate is my favorite, two eggs, two cornmeal pancakes and choice of meat. I complement that with a cup of cappuccino. My husband enjoys their bottomless mimosas and Cuban sandwich served with fries.
Always a lovely experience !
Wonderful food, changing menu and great vibe make thus a place to return to again and again.
Our server was so kind :)! she was able to tell us all about the different ingredients, where they were from, and their taste profiles. she even took our picture at the end of the meal and took us to her favorite photo spot!
This was a special 6 course New Year’s Eve dinner that was one of the best I have ever had. Chef Christian outdid himself.
Great service, they were able to make something that works for my dietary restriction. Friendly waitress, fast service for cook to order food.
great atmosphere and service. Food is dish dependent - some were delicious and some just okay. portions are small but presented beautifully
The 4 of us loved the interior of the building. The waitresses were a little bit pushy but for the most part attentive. The "aged" steak I had was the worst aged steak I ever tasted and honestly I don't believe it was aged at all. I also would say there was maybe, maybe 1/3 of the steak was actual meat. My wife got the salmon filet or should I say salmon sliver and a Cesar salad. I never seen a fish filet so skinny in my life and it was so fishy smelling and tasting neither of us could eat it. The salad actually smelled and tasted fishy also. We couldn't see any anchovies in it but it smelled and tasted like they were there. My brother-in-law ordered the stuffed filet and even the lobster pate mixed in was very fishy smelling and tasting. My sister-in-law ordered the duck and that was actually very good. I really do not understand how this restaurant got a rating over 4 points but I will never go back and never recommend it to anyone. Waaaay, better seafood and steak places in town for less money and not have to experience the fishiness of the seafood and cheap cuts of meat. We ended up leaving the Charmant & walked to the 4 sisters wine bar next to get some better food since 3 of us were still hungry! I definitely recommend the 4 sisters wine bar if you haven't tried it.
We have been at Charmant for dinner twice in the past year. We probably won’t be back. We get more food and a higher quality meal and service for the same price at The Waterfront. Two of our four meals were good, but my salmon was not a large portion and didn’t deliver the flavor I had hoped for given the menu description. Two of our guests ordered the surf and turf. They could not find the “surf” portion of the lobster mousse. Overall, our experience was underwhelming. Our server was a better part of our experience than our meal.
Booked the reservation on a whim while in the area over the holidays. Food and service was great. So happy to see a place like this making it in LaCrosse.
We enjoyed our brunch, we had the Mississippi plate, eggs, bacon and cornmeal pancakes , delicious !
My cappuccino was great and the mimosas refreshing.
The service was very good. The food was good but a little pricey.
Great place to eat before seeing the lights at Riverside Park. Great drinks. Interesting menu.
An eclectic menu.
We have been here several times and the experience was excellent. This was our 56th wedding anniversary and even though we mentioned it to our server in the lounge it wasn't even acknowledged. In both the lounge and in the dining room our servers were not very friendly. The servers at other tables were very friendly & conversant with their customers, explaining the menu, specials, etc. Ours explained nothing. After being seated we waited nearly 20 min before we were asked about a beverage. Since it was getting late my wife ordered a salad immediately until we had a chance to examine the menu. It was another 15 min before she came back to take our order. My wife ordered the prawns without the sauce and other accompaniments as she has a sensitive stomache. There were no substitions available. Her meal arrived with none of the changes she requested. We thought the menu was very limited compared to choices we had on previous visits. The presentation of food was nice, but we thought it was overpriced for the quality and quantity provided. Sorry but we are just being honest. Hopefully this was an exception as we hope for improvements at our nect visit.
See Christmas lights
The menus was quite small and they had a second menu because of light show. We were instructed to eat from one or the other. We both had salmon which was $25 for the meat with small bed of veggies. Salad or other side prices extra which we did not have. Dessert was very lovely. We had a cocktail and this was also really nice. Expensive place for special meal. I would go back but hope they would offer more options.
3 of us had the burger and wasn't good. Food cold and after the first cup of coffee the refills were cold. Great atmosphere and views but our table of 7 go back to eat.
This was the first time I have returned to the Charmant after a disappointing Easter Brunch last year when the food was fabulous but the service was terrible.
This visit for brunch on Sunday was totally enjoyable. We had an exceptional server who kept our coffee cups filled and answered every question we had. The Cuban and the cornmeal pancakes with apple/raisin compote were both outstanding.
Once again, the Charmant is my favorite place for a special meal.
The food is exceptional, beautifully presented and delicious.
Best thanksgiving ever!!! Food was to die for! No cooking - no cleaning - and top of the line food! Those stone shell crabs!!! Omg!!!!
We needed some us time. Just the get away we needed.
Limited lunch menu. Great burgers and sandwiches. Great location.
We had looked forward to going to Charmant for dinner and although nothing was terrible, nothing was exceptional either. I would suggest they add ice to the table water because our water was lukewarm at best. There were only 7 entree items on the menu and I thought there would be more. The food was good, but definitely not delicious....unfortunately I was expecting more. I feel bad that I've given a mediocre review, but that was my experience.
This was my first visit to the Charmant for brunch/breakfast. I have enjoyed their dinners on several occasions and found the food to be spectacular. I wish I could say the same about brunch. Unfortunately, this may have been one of the saddest breakfasts I've had in a while because I did have high expectations based on my experience thus far. I had the cornmeal pancakes with a side of bacon. The bacon was WAY overdone and so dry it disintegrated in my mouth like mealy cardboard. I couldn't even finish it. The pancakes tasted fine (I've had better cornmeal pancakes elsewhere) but again, SO DRY! They came with a spiced apple and candied pecans compote on top, but it was maybe a 1/4 cup's worth and literally 1 TBL of maple syrup to spread over 3 large pancakes was not enough to moisten the pancakes. They needed some butter or cream or more syrup than what was provided with them. Again, I didn't even finish. When you go to a nice place and shell out the $$, you expect to at least come away with something good to say. I'll say that the grits/eggs/sausage 2 people had in my party looked really good. They both said the dish was "fine". The benedict with choice of fish was apparently delicious. My dad's espresso wasn't hot. Even when returned and a new one was brought out immediately after making, it was only warm. Oh well. lesson learned. Stick to dinner at the Charmont. Having said this, it is a lovely place with welcoming ambiance, and their service staff is incredible.
Table of six for brunch at 11:00 on 11/9/19. Server was not good. While clearing plates from table, he proceeded to scrape food from one plate to another right at the table. Something you might do at home, but don't generally see in a restaurant. Very odd. He also hovered at the table waiting for us to pay the check, and it wasn't that we were lingering at the table. His personality was also not warm. Food was just ok. We expected much better from Charmant. Two people ordered the french toast and both were wet in the middle. I suggested they send back, but they just ate around the edges. Salmon eggs benedict was just ok.... a little fishy tasting. Portions were small. On a positive side, the bloody mary was good. We will not come back for brunch.
