Really great find. Innovative menu, interesting drinks, terrific service.
Our server, Joey, was charming and efficient. Food fantastic. Will definitely be back!
How can they sleep at night taking so much money from their customers in return for no value? We all felt taken advantage of. Like we didn’t know anything about food and they could just serve up anything and charge top dollar. They are lucky they are located in Baldwinsville because this restaurant in NYC would not even last a week. The fact that it was Friday night at peak hours and the restaurant was half-full should’ve been a dead giveaway.
Phenomenal brunch! Loved the menu...nothing that everyone would not like. I think I found my new Sunday morning brunch spot!
We've gone here twice and each time have walked away with an excellent meal. The service is great. They make you feel very welcomed.
Nice place. Food was ok. Some better than others.
The scallop risotto was incredible. I thoroughly enjoyed every part of my experience at this restaurant. Can’t wait to come back!
This place is a bit of a hike for me on week days but their brunch is such a great deal and always such a wonderful experience and my roommate and I never miss! Can't wait to try out their regular menu one of these days but Brunch has never disappointed!
Great food, we met the chef and had the tasting. It was a wonderful evening innovative, trendy, comfortable
New years eve dinner. Many menu items on the menu not available. Two chicken Pot pie entrees , both had bones in the pot pies. The chicken skewers were raw. Weak wine list.
Brunch was decent, but not to expectations set by friends. Cold snowy day and sat against the window with a chill coming in. 2nd course (oatmeal) was cold. No microwave so we ate it cold. Service was just ok. only 6 more folks dining and we weren't moved to a warmer spot and the servers didn't seem to care.
We had Sunday Brunch and the value was amazing. Friendly and attentive staff, too!
A unique dining experience in the CNY area. Creative menu items that did not disappoint.
Chef was amazing and made my birthday a fantastic night. Her choice of food and execution of cooking was outstanding.
Made a CONFIRMED reservation for dinner on Saturday evening, November 2nd at 7:00 pm. When we arrived we were greeted by a note on the door saying that they were closed. I believe the note said that they were either at or doing a wedding. If that were the case then why did my reservation get confirmed, much less taker? They should have at least notified the patrons that the place was closed. I have been in.business for 47 years and I would have not been successful with practices like that. I have been there before and have sent many clients there in the past but that is now in the past. Very disappointing and unprofessional.
My boyfriend and I made reservations for our anniversary. I had to make the reservations about a week and a half in advance for the date we wanted. We arrived and there were only a couple other occupied tables so it was quiet and a romantic atmosphere. Multiple servers wished us a Happy Anniversary and we were greeted with a champagne toast. The waitress was friendly and informative, she wasn’t at the table too much which was perfect. We started with a lamb rib appetizer, delicious! He ordered the catch of the week special and I ordered the surf and turf risotto. We were both very pleased with our meals and surprised with the satisfying portions! We also ended up ordered 2 desserts because we couldn’t decide, they were both phenomenal! I also expected a higher bill for ordering all that food and glasses of wine, but I thought it was reasonable.
I wish we had liked it better. The bone marrow was delicious, but there was so little of it! Like maybe a tablespoon, total. Sauce on the marrow was too sweet, and the little - muffins, I guess - that came with the marrow were overbaked and bone dry. My husband's octopus was perfectly cooked...all three tiny pieces of it.
On to the mains. I got sole, my husband got BBQ chicken. My fish was perfectly cooked and, without the sauce, completely lacking flavor. I mentioned its blandness to the waiter, who explained that the fish was meant to be eaten with the sauce. I get that, but a sauce is supposed to complement a dish, not save it. I also realize that sole is very mild, but this fish had zero flavor on its own.
My husband's chicken was flavorful, but he said it was dry, the kind of dry chicken becomes when it's left in a slow cooker for far too long.
We left hungry and disappointed, having paid far too much for what we got. The service was friendly, but the food was overpriced and pretentious. We won't be back.
I really wanted to love this place. Kind of a cool concept and read many positive reviews. We went with a family group of six. Our experience had many highlights but there were some glaring missteps that I simply couldn’t overlook. First of all, let me say that the service was wonderful. We were warmly greeted and our server was friendly and attentive throughout the meal. My husband and I had cocktails off of their interesting and varied specialty drink menu and enjoyed them very much. For appetizers, we ordered the duck wings and the lamb ribs (both yummy), and also the mussels which were also very good. Plump, perfectly cooked and served in a delicious broth. But no bread was served with the dish.
We went the week before and liked our experience much better. This time the food wasn’t as good, especially gnocchi, even the presentation was different.
Outstanding food, creative menu. Highly recommend
Great food, staff and service!!
We came for our anniversary dinner and they treated us very well. They were attentive and well-paced with apps and drinks. We loved everything and it made for a great date night! We will definitely go back.
Cocktails are perfectly made. The staff was very knowledgeable about the menu and the food was all delicious.
Great date night especially for people looking for some more unique options in Syracuse. Food was outstanding! We will definitely be back and have a list of food lovers we want to bring with us!
This is a truly special place, thank you for having us and sharing your love of food. A must stop place!!
Amazing food and drinks! We ordered the tasting menu and all 5 courses were delicious. The ambiance was fantastic for a date night. All servers and bartender were knowledgeable and helpful.
The food was outstanding. The wait staff were all great and professional. We love trying different foods and this place is the place to try new food for sure. We will definitely be back!
This my second time at The Chef And The Cook for brunch. The decor and atmosphere are wonderful and the service was professional and attentive. Brunch is a five course meal which changes every week. The food is incredible and you are invited to have seconds of whatever course you wish. It is a wonderful experience in every regard and a wonderful find in Baldwinsville and even has it's own parking off street. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Was very enjoyable experience. Great view and wonderful atmosphere
We love great food and great service. We prefer restaurants that are not chains. Our dinner at Chef and Cook was very good, but not 5-star great. First, it was 6 pm and not overly crowded. We had reservations, went straight to table. We ordered drinks. First strike, our drinks came After our appetizers arrived. I had the duck wings, amazing. My husband had the Mac n cheese. It was good, but maybe more
Of a side dish. Entrees, I had the duck. Unfortunately, I was comparing it to Defi’s duck in downtown Syracuse. The duck fat was not rendered evenly, had some pieces of fat that were not crisp. The meat itself was a tad overdone. On a good note, my husband’s lobster roll was phenomenal! We did have desserts. The flourless chocolate cake was a winner!! All-in-all, I would say it’s a good ,
But not over-the-top. The pricing was very reasonable, especially the drinks!
Food was delicious, although the bread plate was rather small...hardly enough for 2 to share as an appetizer. The lobster roll is fantastic! Service was impeccable! We sat outdoors on a lovely evening. The only thing that detracted from the ambiance was the traffic going by, but still very nice. I will say they could be a little more generous with the wine pour...
Temperature of room was unpleasantly warm. Cocktails and white wine were also warm. We were told the air was on high and the problem was the age of the building. Server was underage and unable to provide drink and pairing information. Bar was out of first three drink choices. The entrees: Sole and Salmon were well prepared and interesting (popcorn garnish did not add to the presentation of the dish and truffle oil was absent).
The sole and salmon entrees were both excellent choices for flavor and again very well prepared. The bread appetizer seemed stale and was not worth the effort or calories.
Inventive and delicious food, executed well. The cocktails are interesting and well balanced. The menu changes every six weeks or so, keeping everything fresh and interesting. The staff is fantastic-always helpful and friendly without hovering. Absolutely the best overall restaurant in Syracuse.
I have waited a while to come here watching the Manuel change with the season or available product and finally took the dive on my birthday! CHEF JASON was engaged, knowledgeable and passionate! The service was outstanding people everywhere! The seafood charcuterie impossible to replicate as it melted in our mouth with burst of flavor in every twist! The drinks
especially the Smokey mezcal incredible!
And then the entrees: the duck breast perfectly cooked and the banana rice pairing just amazing! Unfortunately the beet gnocchi not so much ...Hard flavorless but whisked away within 2 minutes after I tasted it & so did my husband. No questions vasked except what I’d like to eat and the salmon special was out within 10 minutes & so perfect!
To top it off a glass of Birthday champagne appeared for both of us great vibe great patio, must see & eat!
I expected more, reviews have been so positive. Ordered the special margarita, sent it back to get salt on rim. Octopus appetizer was disgusting, which they did take off the bill. They comped me a salad since the kitchen read the order wrong and made 3 when we ordered 2. Had the daily catch, 2 large scallops that were tasty. However the crab on top was not picked over and I got several pieces of shell. For $29 each it could have been better! Maybe the “B” team was cooking tonight. Not impressed
Our second time here, and again the food and service were both excellent. All meat was perfectly cooked, most especially the scallops. It was hot outside (in the 90's) and even though we sat inside the AC couldn't keep up with that plus the kitchen, so the atmosphere was a little uncomfortable. But server kept our water filled and it was worth it. Of two desserts of the day, one was gone by the time we ordered, and the other was good but didn't rise to the level of the drinks, appetizers, and main courses. Still, currently my favorite restaurant in the greater Syracuse area.
Cute cozy excellent food and service highly recommend
WE enjoyed the outside dining. The food was excellence and just the right size portion. Being able to walk to and from made it even better.
My friend and I both had the lobster risotto which was outstanding! Our server was Amy, who was very knowledgeable and attentive to our needs. Great dinner outside on the patio!
Amazing food and service
