Located on the Upper West Side, the restaurant features a French American menu which includes brunch favorites; blueberry cast iron pancakes, classic eggs benedict and beet and gin cured salmon. Dinner features sumptuous short rib cavatelli, perfectly seared steaks, roasted herb chicken and locally sourced seafood dishes such as seared branzino, scallop tartare with crispy shallots, and perfectly prepared octopus and mussels.
Just an OK brunch Menu more interesting than the food but nice service
Great service as always! People are wonderful and the food never disappoints.
Excellent service. Wonderful waitstaff (Vladimir). Tasty food and lovely ambience.
What a wonderful evening at the consulate. We had the grilled artichokes which were fabulous, the roasted chicken for two which is to die for and of course we had to try the cream Brulé , chocolate Moulton cake and the apple tart! Everything was delicious
Thank goodness I had a walk 20 blocks back home.
The staffs amazing very Attentive. I will definitely be back
The food is overrated at best. The menu options are nice but the food lacks flavor and temperature. All of our meals came out at room temperature heat. This restaurant is expensive and the quality of the food as well as the taste does not warrant it.
We’ve had our eye on The Consulate for a while, & unfortunately it wasn’t really worth the wait. Our server was very friendly, but then became quite inattentive after he “made the sale” when we took our order. He was really pushing us on the $60 steak special, which 3 of us ordered. My medium rare steak came out medium well, and I think it was worth $27-32 max. Our server came back just to get another drink order from us & tried to sell us on dessert. We were really interested in trying out the restaurant for brunch, but I think we’ll pass now. It’s disappointing, as the restaurant itself has a very nice ambiance.
We had a great experience dining there. Our server Jesus was very knowledgeable of the menu and provided great recommendations.
Good food, warm atmosphere, service a little too fast.
The food was great! The service is outstanding! Great cocktails and a music that they played during the lunch! I will definitely come back for a dinner!
I celebrated my 40th birthday at The Consulate with couple of friends.
We had a great time, really attentive and friendly service, amazing food and great atmosphere. We loved the music really old school classics but with modern touch.
I had the best birthday dinner.
I went to the consulate with a very close friend and it was outstanding, from the hostess to the food/dessert. A gentleman helped us with our table (he gave us a few options ~ making sure we would enjoy or evening~) but we end up at the bar counter. I was hypnotized with everything; and I have to mention the seats at the bar. Omg! This is the first restaurant in NYC that I got that high chair with a back support and it was so amazing because my friend is pregnant and I wanted her to be comfortable. These seat are extremely comfy, cute and it gives an UP at this place.
Like I said before I choose the bar because I really liked it but because they have an amazing happy hour from 4pm until 7pm! Guys!! There’s beef sliders, smoked salmon flatbread, Wild mushroom and truffle flatbread, escargots, fois gras and more snacks. Cocktails for $9, beers $7 and wine $9. I took advantage of this and we got two flatbreads (one of each), my friend got a mocktail and I got 3 cocktails. I wanted to try different cocktails because all of them looked so yummy (OMG!! they have flavored ice balls for cocktails) I started with an old fashioned, then I tried one with the ginger called a touch of ginger (also made with bourbon), I wanted to try something else but this ginger guy just got me. You know?! The best cocktail I’ve had! (I had 2 of theses)
Hey, consulate!!! I need this recipe.
I could stay here talking about every little details because my experience was really outstanding. But if I were you I would go there and see everything yourself; I guarantee that you won’t regret it! Please try the ginger drink for me!
Thanks for this amazing afternoon/evening, consulate.
I can’t wait for my next visit!!!
Nice cozy spot. Definitely will go back. Grilled tuna sandwich for lunch very yummy.
The food was not good. The waiter was pretty rude. I don’t think I’d return. Plenty of great restaurants with friendly staff in the area.
A good neighborhood choice. A familiar menu, good service, and good cocktails.
Most enjoyable brunch in this lovely upper west side restaurant. They have a wide ranging and delicious brunch menu. The food was very tasty - the avocado toast with smoked salmon topped with a poached egg was served with a generous salad and was perfect brunch fare. Eggs Benedict were classic and well prepared, and the kale salad a healthy option. Efficient and friendly staff allowed adequate time for us to settle and refilled water glasses without prompting. It's a little noisy but that should not be the reason to forgo this lively, sociable upper west side restaurant. I look forward to trying their dinner menu.
Everything was great BUT I was charged $5 for each small glass bottle of Diet Coke which is the equivalent of paying $10 for one can of Diet Coke. It feels like a ripoff and tainted my feelings for the restaurant
Wonderful experience! Food was absolutely delicious! And the ambiance was perfect- cozy lighting and candles on the tables, all together absolutely lovely dining experience! Will be back soon!
Our new go-to neighborhood place. We love the attentive service; the staff seems to really care about our experience. The food is heads and shoulders above other neighborhood places. We now consider ourselves "regulars."
The Consulate is amazing. The food is always on point and they have the most welcoming and accommodating staff I’ve experienced in NYC. Love this place!
Had a dinner for Valentine’s day with a friend. The table was on time, the food and drinks delicious. Probably one of the best I have ever tried in the city. The service was BEYOOONDD!! 👌🏻 So careful and patient.
Everything was perfect can’t wait to come again. Would DEFINITELY recommend. 🥰
Best burger in town, bar none! Beautifully composed, great meat, great bun, great fries , totally fair price! I was there for lunch and was put off by the big, pretty dirty windows, which were hard to see through. Also American coffee tasted like old espresso. Still, the waiter cheerfully replaced it. Yeah, I’ll return and I thank them for being open for lunch.
Nice restaurant. Will return. Great Caesar salad.
The food is average/good. The prices are steep. $25 for a hamburger and $19 for pancakes seems excessive for the location and quality.
Great food (except a few dishes were not hot enough), wonderful staff and great ambience.
I love this restaurant.
I was dining here 3 times already and every time was amazing.
The first thing I want to mention is the ambiance.
This is really busy restaurant but seems like everything goes so smoothly.
Music, service, people just perfect. The bartender Milan is the funniest bartender who makes the best cocktails ever.
The second best thing is the food!
Every time is just perfect. They always have new specials on the menus which is a nice surprise every time.
Try steak, skate, short rib cavatelli, Herb chicken, burrata.
Cocktails: all of them!!!!
Really nice surprise. I live in the neighborhood for more than 15 years and I can't be more grateful for having this restaurant open.
Finally, dissent food and service but the best part is the ambiance.
For the entree, we had Dover sole and steak Frites, probably one of the best steak I ever had.
Stuff was really polite and attentive.
But the ambiance, we felt like we are in the heart of Paris.
Do your self a favor and go visit this place.
Great neighborhood spot, but also worth traveling to UWS!
It was Saturday night meeting up with a long time no see friends. The ambience was great, accompanied by the pleasant nice music in the background while we talked and talked. The food was super delicious, as we had lots of appetizers to share, while enjoyed our fancy drinks. Big shoutout to the bartender Miljan! The main course were amazing, the burger and the tomahawk are a must to try!! The service was friendly and very pleasant. The overall experience was beautiful. Im so happy having this kind of spot in my neighborhood. Keep up the great job guys! 👏🏼👏🏼
The soup of the day was Leak and Potato Soup which I thought was one of the worst that I have ever had. I returned it for the Onion Soup which was fair. The broth had a nice flavor but the cheese topping had little flavor and the bread served in the soup added little to its enjoyment. In addition, few onion slices were in the soup, they normally enhance the soups flavor. The sautéed skate was ordinary.
We're so happy The Consulate is in our neighborhood. We find it an oasis of good food, impeccable
and friendly service, and a welcoming and lovely atmosphere. What could be better!
Great new spot! Hopefully a neighborhood mainstay. Awesome menu, very friendly staff, beautiful bar & restaurant. I had the hangover burger and it did not disappoint.
Excellent food and exceptional service every time!
We went for a birthday brunch and it was fabulous. Staff could not do enough for us!
This was our second trip. The food is good. Always hard to get service started, but once the server finally shows up, everything was fine. Much too noisy because of bad acoustics.
Terrific. Finally an UWS neighborhood restaurant to rival the UES. They like the music a little loud, but will turn it down on request. The servers are extremely nice and well meaning, but can use a little more training to be "advocates" for their customers. (I had to ask the waitress to interrupt the bartender who was talking to a customer for 5 or 10 minutes while I was waiting for some ice.)
For brunch, burger and eggs Benedict were mediocre at best. Bummer since it’s a nice big space. Hopefully they can improve the food!
There is a low bar for restaurants on the upper West Side and this restaurant does not even reach that bar
Vladimir was a gracious and attentive waiter. Drinks were on the watery side. Shrimps in the Shrimp and Grits dish were NOT AT ALL what I am accustomed to being served. Would certainly go back!
Great location and decor; however, 1 out of 3 appetizers we had were good. Any of the flatbreads are a safe choice, but the grilled artichoke was under seasoned and the mussels had a fishy taste.
Menu incorrect and dishes ordered were not as described.
Server did his best to ad-lib but as stated on menu was not correct
Manager was gracious and removed one entree from check
My entree was roast chicken which was dry and bland
Overall experience was not worthy of returning
