The Cornerstop eatery and bar

We loved The Cornerstop so much that we went twice in one week! We tried appetizers, mains, desserts and cocktails - all delicious. The flavoring was interesting and fresh; nothing was oversalted or too fatty, which I unfortunately experience at way too many restaurants including top fine dining spots. Lastly, all of the staff was welcoming and knowledgable about the menu.
Very nice atmosphere. Short ribs and chicken under a brick were excellent. Good choices on the wine list by the glass or bottle.
A very nice dining experience. Just enough attention from the wait-staff but not too much. Included a quick stop-by from the owner, and we were not even special guests or anything!!
wonderful all round. do not hesitate- a local gem that meeds to be supported thru these times! 🥰
Took 10 minutes to see a waitress, 20 to get a drink, then the menu items weren't the same as online. Finally, after having run out of my first two choices, we had a delicious dinner.
The Corner Stop is doing a fabulous job with social distancing. Tables were spread out and bar had plexiglass dividers for different groups to enjoy. Food was quick to come out and really good. First time trying the pizza, it was delicious. Cocktails and beer selection are creative, seasonal and fun.
Great food and exceptional service. Highly recommended 🌟
Excellent service, excellent food, very clean. Felt very covid safe.
So glad they are back. Jess is the bartender and very good. Friendly and knowledgeable. We had a flat bread with sausage and broccolini. Throw the brocollini away and you have a delicious meal.
The CornerStop, especially with its outdoor patio (new this year) has become our go-to place for dining. Good food, wonderful oysters on the half-shell and excellent staff make it a wonderful place to get away from the rest of the world!
Excellent drinks. Nice ambience. Clearly the physical distancing requirements has had the effect of cutting down the noise level. But still extremely limited options for vegetarians.
Great food, atmosphere and night out! Really enjoyed the wings and lamb burger.
We had 6:45 reservations. The host apologized but our table was not ready. We waited 15 minutes and were seated. It took app. 20 minutes to place a drink order. My husband and our friend wanted bourbon. There were choices so they selected Bulleit emphasizing bourbon not rye. They were served rye. I ordered a Chardonnay and was told they only serve one and there was none of that. I selected a red. After a few minutes the waitperson offered a different Chardonnay which was great. It took 15 minutes or so to get our drinks. Then our waitperson left without taking our order. She seemed to be more involved in conversations with other staff than she was in our service. It was near or even after eight before we ordered and I had to call her over (waving my hand). The tomato soup was delicious but lukewarm. My girlfriend and I each ordered the scallop appetizer as our entree because our waitperson told us it contained three scallops which was plenty for each of us. More waiting for the food to be served. I think the host served us. Again our waitress was chatting up her co workers. The appetizer had two not three scallops. The host offered to look into the issue but it we were so hungry, we demurred. The waitperson did come to the table. When I remarked about the scallops, she said “oh, sorry” like “what’s the big deal”? We ordered a second round of drinks. Our husbands ordered Knob Creek bourbon and were happy. I ordered “another”. I was served a Sauvignon blanc. I sent it back and was again served a Sauvignon blanc. I was tired of correcting our orders and gave up. It was now close to 9 and we wanted to leave. Guess where our waitperson was? Of course, chatting up her coworkers at the bar with her back to us. Again, I had to wave my arm and her friend indicated that she should look over at us. I asked for the bill. When we got it, we were charged for a Basil Hayden that no one had ordered. That had to be corrected. We probably won’t be back.
Excellent dinner with friendly service. Really enjoyed the ambience and relaxed atmosphere. Will definitely add to our favorites !!
awesome evening at "The Stop" as usual...great food and service !
Food was delicious. Only complaint is no white Zinfandel..no bread
The CornerStop is our favorite place. The outdoor patio provides a wonderful ambiance, especially because we can bring Tessa, our cockapoo with us. The martinis are wonderfully cold, and the oysters on the half shell are stunning! The service is outstanding; waitstaff stays well-connected to diners.
During this time of Covid, we have been opting for outdoor seating options. We were really impressed with the ambience at cornerstop. They put down shells on the ground, lights and fountains for soothing sounds.
Always great service, food and drink at the Cornerstop
go there about twice a year. Went on a weekday evening this time. Sat outside. it was the nicest time I've had there. Outside was relaxing (no views, but still ok with lights). Food was delicious, and music soundtrack was great. Staff was wonderful !
Enjoyable evening.
Outdoor dining area was wonderful, food was great and waitress was fantastic!!
It was pretty quiet, Sunday night, but service/food/drinks were great!
Love the new patio - great atmosphere, great meal, great service.
We dined outside. Very nice patio with lots of room. The food was great. Everybody in our party of 6 agreed. Service was outstanding. We’ll definitely be back.
Great food & accommodations. Staff was very attentive & friendly. Also paid close attention to Covid protocols! Highly recommend
We ate outside on the patio which is newly constructed. They went to great trouble to make it cozy and intimate. Our server was super attentive. Food was delicious!
Outdoor seating is a great addition
We went there for my daughter birthday. It was very enjoyable. Food was excellent as was the service.
Always a fantastic experience. The food is great, restaurant is beautifully decorated, stylish and cozy, service outstanding.
Fantastic restaurant, local staple, wonderful place to eat!
Was pleased to see that the restaurant was a little bit warmer than the last time I was there. But could still be warmer. Our server was excellent!
Very disappointing experience. We were a party of eight - admittedly a difficult size - that arrived for lunch at 12:30 pm. The problems started almost immediately, as they did not have a number of the items (the carrot ginger soup, empanada and Early Grey tea, among others) listed on the menu. The waitress said that they had changed the menu the day before, but had not had the time to print new menus. Rather than telling us what was available, though, we were left to guess and order based on a now outdated menu. The first lunch entree was not served until we had been seated for an hour; the last entree was served 17 minutes after the first. Management apologized, and offered to comp the late entree. When the bill came, however, the last entree was still on it. It took about 15 minutes for management to correct the bill. In addition, when they asked if dessert was wanted, they brought one menu for the table.
We were split on the food. The street tacos and sausage and fennel flatbread were well received; the quinoa mushroom burger was not, as the "burger" was little more than mush and very bland, and the caesar salad and dressing was said to be essentially tasteless.
Great food and atmosphere
Friendly and knowledgeable staff
We recommend and will be back again soon!
Excellent scallop and risotto entry. Great ambiance, little noisy, but in a bar area, and moderately expensive.
Never been disappointed!
The quality of the food and drinks is excellent. Service is top notch, ambiance is great, quiet enough to speak to friends but still some energy.
$1 oysters from 4pm-6pm make it a destination.
This was our first time trying the Cornerstop. We can’t wait to go back. Great food, atmosphere and service.
Everything was amazing as always! Every time we come in the food, service, and atmosphere is perfect
Interesting and varied menu- front room is great combo of buzz and activity to make dining fun. Wait staff spot on and food fabulous!
This location, which has had at least two other restaurants before The Cornerstop, is a good one on the junction of the towns of Hingham, Hull and Cohasset. It's easy to find and has no close competition in its "neighborhood." Parking appears to be adequate, but we were there on a weeknight. We had a reservation through Open Table and were seated immediately. Our server was friendly and knew the menu. Our meals came fairly quickly in this busy place. The menu is limited like a bistro menu would be, and this was no surprise having looked at the website. Most of the menu items were very appealing and my braised short ribs were delicious and the flavored polenta mixture upon which they rested was very tasty. My Tiramisu was scrumptious. Another big plus was that the beer list was large and the cocktail and drinks list more than adequate.
The only drawbacks to The Cornerstop we can list are that entree portions could be bigger for the prices, the wine list a little larger, and the high seating more comfortable. But that's it.
There is wonderful effort put into the food. So fresh.
Only complaint is how cold it always is there.
