Great service. Tasty food. The Cottage is a place I go to often.

I decided to celebrate my 30th birthday at The Cottage with a small number of friends. The cocktails were nice, but unfortunately our food arrived cold or barely warm. My friends who ordered the pasta were very disappointed at both the cool temperature and the small portion size (especially for what you pay for!). My pizza wasn't very warm, it was okay, but for the price and the venue I expected more. The service was very poor. Twice when ordering drinks, our waiter had to come back to double check what we ordered. Another time we asked for the waiter to come back in 1 minute, after we had finished deciding on the next round of drinks, and 20 minutes later we were still waiting. We found it very hard to get the waiters attention. This was all such a shame, because I had much fonder memories of this restaurant in previous years.

Loved the Barramundi and the Baked Goats Cheese! First time visiting.

Lovely restaurant with beautiful food. Loved the little cottage setting with a lot of character. The service was great and very attentive. The barrumundi was delicious along with the brussel sprouts and cauliflower. I had the lemon meringue tart which was also delicious. Will be back in the very near future, this time for dinner !

The foods & service always consistent.

Nice space in the garden but service was slow and not attentive at all. Seemed all waitstaff were trainees. Disappointing

Overall a really pleasant evening. The food was delicious. The barramundi was yummy and the cauliflower and Brussel sprouts very tasty. There was a couple of things that could have been done better. A long wait between starter and mains. A couple of items forgotten. Very small portion of kids ice cream for price. That aside we really enjoyed ourselves and would definitely go again.

Fell in love with this charming venue on our first visit so we decided to come back for our 5 year anniversary. Amazing spot for a date night. Yummy cocktails and the food was absolutely outstanding!

Great food and drinks in the heart of Balmain. The Brussel sprouts were outstanding and a great accompaniment to both the steak and pork cutlet.

what a lovely venue. The atmosphere is magical, all the fairy lights, sitting in the garden on a balmy night was just what the doctor ordered. We felt relaxed after a long week. The staff are efficient without being pushy, and they are friendly. The food is superb, great menu and great wine list. Ill definitely be back, thankyou

Loved the ambience & food was delicious as usual. All of us had a great time, very relaxing.

Great sharing plate menu and excellently cooked and presented food that can be eaten at tables in the beautiful garden or inside in comfortable heritage-style surrounds. The Barramundi main was memorable as were the goats cheese (with herbs and honey) and the calamari frito.
Service efficient and charming.

The perfect place for a long lunch

Good people, good surroundings, good food, good bar.

I came here on a first date and moved my chair to sit right next to my date but was asked politely to move my chair back to sit opposite due to covid restrictions. This didn't make sense to me as every other table had patrons sitting right next to each other. This tarnished the night for us even though the food was very good.

Kale and pumpkin salad was all kale and no pumpkin. One meal came a long while after the other three. Small portions.

Very ambient surroundings and the food was great and not overly priced. Good service and not to over the price.

Staff were very friendly and kept us informed on the evening. Eg confirmed we knew the table was only for 2 hours, reminded us with half an hour to go, then when wanting us to move sourced another table downstairs for us to continue to remain. Food was tasty, music great and generally a good vibe. Cocktails particularly nice!

Really recommend, quaint and yet a hip and happening place. Food is great and so are the cocktails!

My partner and I received our main meals a long time apart. My meal was overcooked and nearly cold when it arrived then I waited for several minutes until his arrived. Our salad didn’t turn up until we had nearly finished the main meal
The food is not particularly cheap or of a high standard and it’s not good value for money. Won’t go there again.

Can't really recommend this place. The food was on the pricey side but it was pretty average. Service was a bit slow considering it was not super busy, staff said they would sit us at a certain table once it was clear but than gave it away, and it just seemed like we were forgotten about. Nice venue but our overall experience just wasn't that great.
