Fabulous food great decor. Felt lovely to be there would recommend a visit. And would choose again
Lovely meal, lobster was amazing, highly recommended it...............
Lovely seafood, however the service was a bit slow and some of the tables had some exceptionally noisy people.
Very friendly staff, service excellent and food as expected very tasty but unfortunately very noisy so conversation very difficult.
The food was good but not great compared to the seafood we had at two other restaurants the day before and after our visit to the Crab. We received our starter and main course at the same time, the prawns were over cooked and our bottle of wine was charged twice. Good atmosphere and very COVID aware.
I booked to go with my husband for dinner never been before and we both really enjoyed the whole experience, we also went back the next morning for coffee and that was good to
Service was bad ...we had to ask for plates to be remove ... food was just ok
Our experience at the Crab was lovely. The ambience and quality of food was very good. The reason I've given 4 stars for food is beacuse one of the desserts was a bit on the dry side. The reason I've given 5 stars for the noise being energetic is due to the piano playing in the background.
First time at the Crab and thought it was great. Had Oysters to start and the hot Fruits De Mer, both were excellent. Service was good to start with but had to wait ages to get more wine halfway through the meal. I would definitely return.
The food was excellent and the staff were amazing. Will definitely eat here again.
Lovely restaurant! Wasn’t to expensive for seafood! Loved the piano playing! The vide was great!
We had a belated 25th anniversary few days in Bournemouth and it was topped off with a fantastic evening at the Crab, food was exceptional in particular my favourite oysters and lobster were probably the best I’ve had, my husband found his scallops succulent and his steak cooked to perfection, equally the staff and service were first class
Wonderful food! Staff very friendly, lovely atmosphere. Overall a very good place to eat. I certainly recommend a visit.
Really good scallops to start, cod to follow was good. Thick rimmed wine glasses. Nooooo!
Booked this restaurant based on previous excellent reviews and we were not disappointed. The food and the service were excellent. My husband had sea bass and I had the fish and chips ... we would definitely book this restaurant again when we are next in the area and go for the seafood sharing platter
Was a lovely evening.just a bit dissapointed as I came to eat crab but they did not have any.
Took the sharing platter .that was good value for the different fish we ate
Outstanding seafood dining option that was well worth the price. We shared a starter of pan-seared scallops which were perfectly cooked and obviously very fresh based on their sweetness. We followed that with Fruits de mer which had a tremendous amount of varied seafood prepared in several ways. Fried oysters, mussels, scallops, sea bream, salmon, crab, lobster and then some. It was a remarkable meal.
Had seafood platter, crab was overcooked, meat tasted very dry. I think it was oil fried or pre- cooked in bulk then warmed up?! Considering it’s their signature dish we were disappointed. Couldn’t taste the fresh sweet seafood flavour at all. What a shame! Potion was very small for two £76. Not as good as we had elsewhere. Service was good though.
The food was really great. We ordered catch of the day( seabass) and lobster and we loved it. Very good service as well.
Such a lovely meal with amazing food service and a lovely vibe!
We arrived slightly early so were greeted with "Your early, you can sit there and wait" we weren't offered a drink or nibbles despite being sat in the lounge for about half an hour
The food was nice but the service was terrible. Staff let the place down
Not good value overall
Busy, a sense of chaos, with no calm or order anywhere
Woukdnt do it again
Having visited others in the Crab group we had high hopes. The food was awful, my husbands whole lobster at £50 was tiny, his chips cold and old looking. My fish and chips looked like it needed another 3-4 minutes in the frier, it was aneamic looking to say the least, not at all crispy and very greasy as were the chips which looked like they had been sat there for half an hour. Our meal took and hour to come out and when we queried it it appeared instantly so guessing it had been just sat there!
Great seafood restaurant nice touch with the resident piano player
Food was delicious - someone recommended the crab to us and we will definitely be recommending to others!
The food was good but we unfortunately got quite sick later in the evening. Think it was some oysters that we ordered at the end of the meal as not oyster season currently. Apart from that though, the food was delicious and would recommend a visit. Service could have been a bit quicker. It took over 30 mins for our starters to be cleared so meant we were waiting ~ 50 mins between starter and main.
Wonderful food and staff. I would thoroughly recommend!
I had the mussels and hubby had the fish and chips
Both had a dessert, plum cake and peanut butter bombe
The waiter was a bit off when we didn’t have a starter, but we prefer a dessert ,after he took our plates away He said are you rushing off or staying for a dessert !!!
Generally ok. Nothing particularly special about the place. Serviced by four different staff during the meal. Waited a long time to pay bill. Presents itself as a high end restaurant but was a little disappointed as it’s not really.
Fabulous fresh seafood, loved it. Only downside was that the waiter forgot our olive starter but they brought them out with the main.
Highly recommended, the food was delicious. If it wasn't so booked up I would visited there twice whilst I was staying in bournemouth
It was out first time at the crab we loved everything, the staff were so polite and helpful my wife and I had the lobster it was first class.
Thank you to all staff when we can return to Bournemouth we willbe back
Food was fairly good, I know it’s a fish restaurant but no veggie option on the menu I had to ask and only 1 option given. Asked for 2 beers to start and wine with meal but was serviced wine before beers?? It was lunch and only 2 other couples in but the 2 waitresses though lovely were no particularly on their game. Maybe is an evening venue but am sure if they had a few more specials on or a few marketing deals would fill up as only 100 yards from the beach and pier
Visited Bournemouth for a little getaway with my boyfriend and we were recommended the crab by a friend and were not disappointed. The food is excellent and service was so friendly and efficient. We felt safe as all the staff were wearing masks and did the most to make us feel comfortable. Would recommend and we will be back!!
The food was excellent and the staff were very attentive, loved the strawberry cheesecake too
Poor service, mussels brought to table with no side dish or finger bowl, had to go and ask for one.
Mussels themselves were gritty and not edible, had to send back.
Young waitress relatively new to the restaurant, lovely person but needed more support/training, was quite awkward at times
Great atmosphere, delicious fish. Excellent service. Ordered the sea bream with lobster pasta. Found the pasta a bit bland hence why 4 stars not 5. Fantastic little surprise amuse-Bouche before our starter. The most delicious red mullet snapper as a starter. The sea bream was seasoned well and it was delicious.
Couldn't fault the food, it was delicious but the service was dreadful. Had to wait for the main course, coffee and even to get and pay the bill.
Fantastic service and great food.
Scallops and Crab an absolute delight
Love this restaurant....my favourite in Bournemouth. Perfect.
Not a complicated menu. What you see on the menu is what you get. Fish was fantastic, and the drink menu was robust. Overall a good place for special occasions and people who want good quality seafood.
