The Cricketers Warfield
I’ve visited here many times before any covid restrictions and during the restrictions ...the pricing seems to be higher now than before ..and I was very shocked to see one glass of wine cost £12.40 ..without being advised on price or choice of wine ...two glasses of wine was more than a 3rd of the cost of the whole bill.
We as a table of two were seated very close to a loud table of 6 ..which did impact noise wise on our enjoyment of the evening of a whole
Also the fact that service charge isn’t discretionary ..a total bill of £73 ...two glasses of wine £25 ..service charge on total bill was over £6 I believe when the only food we ordered was a sharing platter and a side order of chips ...cost was very disproportionate to the food we ate
We were shown to our table by a nice young lady and then sat there for 40 minutes without any service from anyone ! Had to go to the bar to get our drinks myself! Of which the house wine tasted disgusting ! We had to ask for menu’s cos again no one served us ! The menu was so reduced that my Wife being a vegetarian had very little to choose !We asked to see a wine list and chose a bottle of wine at £21.50 ! But waiter come back and said it wasn’t available and all that we could have would be a bottle costing £30 !!! We were not prepared to pay that price! We ordered our food which came up incorrect and not very hot and then had to wait another 5 minutes for the cutlery to turn up, all in all a very disappointing evening and I doubt we will be going back.
Loud, slow service, decent food but prices on the high side
Very friendly & efficient table service. The Covid precautions very well executed. Despite social distancing, the pub had a really good ambience & buzz around it - was really nice.
Well done The Cricketers!
We enjoyed our evening and felt very safe. Food was good and service was friendly and welcoming although a little slow at times, but we understood the circumstances are difficult. We were grateful for the discount.
Good menu quick service and very friendly. Very good Covid prevention
Ive heard the service is usually very good but unfortunately we were served by the duty manager and he seemed a million miles away, quite poor in fact! The bar staff were friendly and the food was average
A great all rounder
Good selection of different meals!
Best roast dinner in the area! Even in the evening the food was fresh and plentiful where a lot of pubs have run out!
Menu wasn’t inspiring
Service was adequate
Table was small and inadequate
Food was not great. Picking fish Bones out all evening.
Would not return
Seating a problem in a lobby type area requested a move ended up at a high table perched on stools
Starter good then chef forgot us so after over a hour requested refund as still no food. Refund arrived same time as food. Money refunded and food packed up as take away. This is was supposed to be a treat for my sons birthday!!
Could have been better
No quibbles about refund
Delicious food and great service thankyou for a lovely lunch
Lovely food (seabass) great beer and all very safe.
Service was poor, waitress was miserable, mash was extremely salty, ham was all fatty and rubbery in the pies.
Lovely evening with family seated in the garden. Food and service was good and we felt very safe and protected during this difficult time.
Good food as always. Friendly atmosphere all staff covid safe.
Great service and wonderful food! Highly recommend
Nice friendly pub which is very clean with nice decor. Above average Sunday Roast, nephew felt there should have been more chips with his fish and chips. Would recommend and probably return.
The roast was the best roast I have ever had! Brilliant service and lovely food
The staff were warm and welcoming, the food was amazing, and the pub itself is stunning. 5 stars every time.
Having been there at lunchtime a month earlier I thought we’d go again in the evening for my wife’s birthday. Bit of a let down really waited nearly an hour for our food and to be honest it was average for the price, we all had something different so it’s not like you can point your finger at anyone thing. It was busy so maybe you could put it down to that. Who knows!!!!!!
Irina saved the day for us, very attentive and polite.........
A safe environment to meet friends and enjoy a delicious dinner. Service and quality of the food was excellent. Plenty of space between tables; hand sanitiser available; staff wore face coverings; so worth visiting in these uncertain times.
Food was nice but nothing special and overpriced. Chirashi bowl portion was tiny and a rip-off at £12.50. Never a main course.
Lovely place to go,weve just moved to the area and been twice in one week already. Have gone just as a couple and also with family including little ones. Feels like a really nice place where you could dress up for dinner or go in muddy boots after a walk and not feel out of place. Will definitely be returning! :-)
Not much menu choice but food was ok. Service very good.
18.30 booking, pub was very full and plenty of screaming children not for us.
Didn’t have 2 of the starters we wanted. Finally got starters but then waited over hour and 20 mins for our dinner with no explanation when I did ask he said it was be plated up, that took over twenty mins and when it came it wasn’t worth the wait!!
Will not be returning
Lovely staff, nice atmosphere. Unfortunately the food we had was not great. Disappointing quality, particularly the flat iron chicken which was poor.
My wife and I had a peaceful lunch here, the staff were very attentive. Highly recommend.
Waited about 20 minutes for our drinks, an hour for our food and another 20 minutes for pudding. When the food finally came out it was cold, one of the roast dinners didn’t have gravy and had to all wait for our cutlery to be brought over. They brought my little boys dinner out last. Didn’t have apple sauce or horse radish for our roast dinners and had new potatoes instead of roast potatoes. Also my pork was very pink and upset my tummy that night. Overall a very poor experience we all had and will not be going back. Such a shame as really liked the cricketers.
Expensive for what it is
Lovely venue, good food and real value for money.
Lovely food ,nice atmosphere, staff ever so friendly
A great welcome, explanation and guidance on arrival. Relaxed and easy to communicate with staff.
Food was fab. Did not feel rushed and our custom felt valued.
Food was rather tasteless. Really poor burger meat and not a great range of food on the menu.
Food and service was great, only gripe is the staff are a bit noisy conversing with each other, prob our table right next to cutlery etc. rather listen to the music, not enough to spoil our evening though. Would go again.
Glad we tried it but dissappointing. Not great covid measures ( we had to go in and order at the bar despite sitting outside; most staff wearing masks around their necks not faces apart from 2 of the younger staff; and waitress who bought our deserts touched all the cutlery ). Food ok but not great. Sourdough bread starter came with no butter ( we had to go in and ask despite it being listed on the menu ). Wife liked the seabass, and son liked the (huge) whitebait starter - but the presentation effort was bland compared to other similar priced local pubs. Burger was a bit like a mcdonalds but £15. "Chocolate brownies" were rocky road with the tiniest scoop of ice cream we've ever seen - more like a melon ball. Maybe it was bad day after a long bank holiday weekend but don't think we'll return.
Good compliance with the social distancing and lovely service.
The mini farm outside whilst dining in the sun was brilliant entertainment for young children.
Food was very nice but awfully expensive
Service was excellent and atmosphere lively, food was superb and enjoyed by all. Defintely going back for more!
Food was very good. They are still sorting out & dealing with COVID-19. But it’s a great pub & they will get there.
