The Davenport Lounge
Our tea was wonderful! Each of the three courses were delicious and beautifully plated; our server was knowledgeable and very pleasant. It was a terrific treat and we will go back!
Mardi Gras - pre ball
Celebrating a coworker
Live harpist added to the serene nature of this afternoon tea. Everything was really good except one thing: there seemed to be a lot of confusion about what a lacto-ovo vegetarian (i.e. normal vegetarian) eats. We were served deviled eggs with caviar on top of them (vegetarians typically eat bird's eggs but don't eat caviar because they require killing the fish to get the caviar) but there was an aversion to serve us dairy/cheese (we love cheese). Other than this, the afternoon tea was perfect. It's on the pricey side, but, it's the Ritz. Taking that into consideration, the value for the service was very reasonable at $40/person.
Absolutely lovely experience. Would go again in a heartbeat. I wish there had been more to the sandwich course, but other than that, no complaints or changes. Service was top-notch!
We loved our girls' afternoon out having tea at the Ritz Carlton in New Orleans. The atmosphere was so fun, and the food was delicious. We enjoyed chatting and enjoying each other's company in a beautiful setting.
Everything was beautiful, and tasteful. We’ve done Tea at the Windsor Court the past few years and decided to change it up. We were very pleased with the service.
Amazing experience for High Tea
Ambiance was great. The scones were delicious but very small. I would recommend tea here for a larger group but let them know that the service is slow with some servers. Parties that came in 30 minutes or more after us received items long before my party of two. Felt like an afterthought. A tad disappointing.
The charge was the same for adults and children - $70 per person and was not worth it. Kids hardly ate anything that was served.
revilion dinner we had was amazing and Ritz is so festive this time of year.
We enjoyed the Papa Noel Afternoon Tea with our daughter. We had taken her there for tea years ago when she was little, it was the one thing she wanted to do on returning to New Orleans. It was a lovely experience. After our last course, the waitress brought out a plate of delicious beignets with “welcome back” written on the plate in chocolate. Such an unexpected gesture.
Tea at the Ritz Carlton will always be a must for us when in New Orleans!
My mom and I came for tea and we were very pleased. My mom had recently finished chemo treatment and this was a celebration. She even received a special candle to take home and a card signed by staff. Our server, Mary and her assistant,Brianna, made this a very special event for my mom. The food was as good as it was pretty. Highly recommend
Every element of the space, the service and the food was outstanding!
I only wish management would have asked the guy yelling into his cell phone to put the phone away, or at the very least, quiet down. He challenged the elegance of the space and occasion.
Yet, Penny was amazing! Just an incredible person!
This is supposed to be high tea. I expected more from the ritz. The cakes were dry. Dissatisfied and disappointed is what I felt. They should really consider having high tea at the plaza and then change their menu.
Went for the afternoon tea service. The service was set up on a couch with a low table at the back of the lounge. The lounge itself is pretty much a bar and people were walking back and forth the entire time. Our server had to walk quite a distance to get our food. The China and linens were very plain and the food itself was bite size. I was expecting a tier of food by each item came to us separately and while the presentation was nice the size of each item was miniscule, which would be understandable if we were eating expensive ingredients, but we weren't. Needless to say not impressed at all and for nearly $50 not worth the money. The only outstanding thing was the tea. This service should honestly be scrapped from the Ritz they clearly need to revamp it. I actually hated the seating and arrangement because it was hard reach for things we're literally stretching. Very inconvenient and uncomfortable. The waitress never brought us new silverware after we used ours on our tiny tea sandwiches. We had to use the same utensils for our desserts. The Ritz didn't even have proper tea spoons we had huge bulky tablespoons. Very lackluster. I would definitely not recommend this service to anyone looking for a proper tea service.
Service, food, ambiance and waiter were all perfect. Our server Brad was wonderful. The harp music was lovely. We will return.
Excellent. Nothing better than afternoon tea at The Davenport!
The ONLY thing that could have make the experience perfect was music. On the website, I understood it to say there would be a harpist, but she showed up only for the 2:00 seating, as we were leaving. If there was to be no live music for ambience, they should have piped in some type of relaxing music. We normally go to the Windsor Ct for Tea, but everyone liked The Ritz better so we will be back!
The waterfall was a nice touch :)! - seriously, the staff handled the roof leak with utmost professionalism.
The food & tea were wonderful - taste & presentation.
The service (Garret) was great & I am sure his trainee will do just fine.
Thank you for a marvelous time!
Penny was very nice and attentive. I only wish less of the desserts involved hazelnuts as 3 of my 5 were changed. I was really looking forward to the chocolate ones from the menu. The raspberry jam and scones were very good. I quite liked the decontructed sandwich idea as well. I can't pick a favorite because I enjoyed all of them.
Very elegant and relaxing. Beautiful space, well appointed. Great service. I've had better tea sandwiches and scones at other hotels but this was certainly good fare.
This was the worst Ritz experience I've ever had. We went for afternoon tea. All the courses tasted horribly, especially the deserts. They tasted like they had been in the fridge for 3 days and then taken out and served. Only the 2 tiny scones tasted somewhat decent and not 3 days old. I also told our waiter to notify the chef of my food allergy and they brought out sorbet for a desert.
The champagne was generic and they didn't even fill the teapot with extra hot water.
The decor was mediocre and the management needs further training in other Ritz establishments to learn how things should be run.
Truly hate leaving this review but it had to be said
Really enjoyed the afternoon tea! Both the savory and the sweet were beautifully presented and delicious! The lounge is so nice and really liked our table with the armchairs.
We went to tea for my daughter’s 8th birthday at the Ritz. It was an overall lovely experience. She had a great time.
The service was phenomenal. They went above and beyond to ensure she had a great time and to help my handicapped mother who joined us. Special shout out to Kelly!!
The food ranged. The savory food was great as were the scones. Sadly the desserts were least tasty.
Ambience was very nice except that it was SO COLD that it made us want to leave sooner than we otherwise would have.
I think I would go back for a special occasion but I hope the dessert improves.
I came for the tea service. The server, Garrett, was beyond hospitable and accommodating (I also made special requests as a surprise to my partner!). The food was excellent as well.
For such a highly recommended place the experience was sub-par at best. Our server was fantastic and she alone made the redeemed the experience. The tea was great but the food was disappointing, for $40 a person we got 5-6 little microscopic hors d'oeuvres, not a true tea service. Dry chicken salad and tasteless savory course. The deserts tasted like they had been siting in the chiller for a long time. The scones and beignets were the only things that were tasty.
We made reservations for Afternoon Tea while in New Orleans and enjoyed every minute of it. The teas, the food and the presentation were all lovely. It was a very special treat and we would definitely recommend this to anyone that enjoys such experiences.
I took my friend for Afternoon Tea as a Christmas gift and it was a big hit! Will return with other friends.
Had my Son take his grandmothers to tea as their Christmas present from him. They had a fabulous time!
Wonderful service, and careful attention to my dining companion's vegetarian diet, which I noted when i made the reservation on OpenTable. Sever and kitchen were aware and ready. Server was wonderful, just a delightful experience.
Sue Crabtree was AMAZING. Our original server was not too attentive but Sue the manager stepped right in and took care of us. She was great! I don’t have enough words as to what an asset she is to the team there. She even put the first course aside for a member of our party who was late. She was very thoughtful.
Nice for afternoon tea
The afternoon tea was great!
The selection of teas was great as well as the food. I would definitely visit again
Had a wonderful afternoon tea here with my wife. Wonderful presentation.
Rather than do Sunday Brunch on a recent trip to New Orleans, we opted for Sunday Tea and chose the Davenport at the Ritz-Carlton because of its reputation and from previous experiences in other cities. We were not disappointed. The arrangement and presentation was lovely, the food delicious, and the tea assortment was not overwhelming yet comprehensive. The first course “sandwiches” were more like canapés, a different approach from the usual fare - tasty and lovely. They wisely stuck with traditional scones with lemon curd, Devonshire cream, and jam, which is classic and, in my opinion, the highlight of a tea. By dessert we could hardly eat another morsel but sampled the tempting treats with our last cup of tea. Our server, Raj, provided exceptional service and suggestions. His tip to add ginger syrup to my chai tea was a game changer, completely altering the flavors of the tea.
When you tire of the Frech Quater fare, enjoy an afternoon repose in the quiet elegence of the Davenport. Tea is offered 7 days a week so don’t wait for a Sunday.
Had a wonderful time at a bridal tea for my daughter. The service was top notch and the food was lovely and very tasty.
Great experience. I would definitely recommend. The tea is so unique.
I made a reservation for tea at the Davenport Lounge to celebrate the birth of our daughter next month. The service was fantastic and we enjoyed every second of our experience!
Everything was delicious! Scones were cold though and the harpist was extremely loud for the atmosphere.
