The Courtney Room

We had the Chef's tasting menu. The food was unbelievably delicious and decadent. Loved the choices and the presentation. Great pairing options as well. My only complaint would be the amuse bouche. It was this small triangle with a smear on a huge plate. It tasted good, but the presentation was lack luster and clunky. The amuse bouche, in my opinion, should get the diner excited with anticipation of what is to come. That certainly wasn't. However, the other courses certainly were above and beyond amazing.

Also, I had the filet since I am not a fan of lamb. And it was cooked to absolute perfection! I appreciated the opportunity to sub that in.

Excellent food. Service, course pacing, and table location/ambience were slightly disappointing. Would recommend, but not on a special event day (NYE for example) as I think aspects of the experience suffered for it.

Went for the New Year's Eve eight-course tasting menu. It was an exceptional experience in every way, from start to finish. The only thing missing was a wine pairing option but probably wise under the circumstances. And it was easily forgiven and forgotten with every delicious bite.

I preferred my Appie of Scallops and Dinner Entree of Trout, over my Husband's choice of Carpaccio and Beef Tenderloin. We both had the Eggnog Mouse and agreed it was quite delicious, and a good portion. The price was fair. The ambiance was clean and quiet, a bit underwhelming. The service was quick and more than satisfactory.

Lovely Christmas dinner. We were very well taken care of, and the kitchen adjusted to our allergies. Worth the cost for a special Christmas. I would do it again.

Omg, such a disappointment,
not as advertised there was a set menu with a few choices $70. each
appetizer; 2 small scallops
main; the toughest piece of beef I have had in a decade. Totally unlike us we had to send the plates back, we could not even cut the steaks with the supplied steak knifes.
The waitress was so professional, and gave us another choice of main, it was OK,
dessert came and we could not cut through the base with the supplied spoon.
Total cost over $200.
One of the saddest dining experiences I’ve had in Victoria for many many years!
Please understand the waitress was very professional but the kitchen staff needs to try their food before it goes out to the dining room, anyone with pride would not have sent the beef or the dessert out if they had tried it themselves.

Tough times for the restaurant industry, this restaurant will close unless the kitchen staff checks the food before the customer does!
That meal should not have been served at $10. per person certainly not over $100. per person!

Food was mediocre..too much garnish...sauces didnt work with fish..steak was sinewy and tough..dessert unimaginative.

What you'd expect from a "fancy restaurant." Great atmosphere, high quality food, and the smallest but well-presented portions. Our meal for two cost as much as 3 meals combined at other "regular" restaurants with drinks. Good for occasions but I would never really come here on a regular basis even if I had the money for it. I'm also not a local so what the heck do I know.

The sever was very impressive with her wine and food knowledge. The tasting menu was well thought out and executed with great care. Very enjoyable evening with delicious food.

We came specifically for the gluten-free duck corn dogs and they did not dissapoint! We had to order a whole second order, they were soooooo good! All of our food was delicious and our server was a treasure. We will be back for sure!

We had a very nice dinner at The Courtney Room. We have heard nothing but good things about the restaurant and we were not disappointed. We were able to make a booking on the day of our dinner and can only surmise COVID restrictions were the reason as while there were a few other diners, the restaurant was not busy. We enjoyed our skillfully prepared French 250 cocktails. The menu is relatively small but offered many interesting choices. We began with local raw oysters we found very fresh, cold and tasty. The sablefish main was very nicely presented and tasted even better, the side vegetables were extremely good. My wife very much enjoyed her hamburger and our daughter found the Humboldt squid dish much to her liking. Service was very prompt and engaging. It may have taken us a while to get to The Courtney Room but I know we will be back soon.

Went for a special birthday dinner during the season of Covid. There were very few in that evening, which meant there was little noise and risk of contagion. Had a wonderful tasting meal that was served at an appropriate pace so that the 2 hours left us very satisfied and never overly full.

Everything about our experience was flawless and thoughtful. The food was delicious and the service pleasant and professional. We really appreciated the precautions they had in place and the way staff wore masks the entire time, stayed back while speaking with us and limited their physical contact (didn’t lean across us etc). Such a wonderful meal and experience, thank you!!

Celebrated our engagement at the Courtney and we were super impressed with the professional service. The dishes were very well presented tasted just as good as they looked. Highly recommend the in house dry aged steak topped with shaved truffles.

We had the tasting menu with the wine pairing. The food was excellent and the service oustanding. We went back the nest night for a la carte.

Elegant, thoughtful, delicious plates of food. Service perfectly timed; staff incredibly informative and a delight to speak with. Warm and sophisticated ambience. One of the best dining experiences had in the city. Will definitely be back.

We were celebrating the 83rd birthday of our father and grandfather. The table was set elegantly and at the guest of honour’s seat, was a birthday card from the Courtney Room, a very thoughtful way to start the night off.
One of the dishes that I was expecting had been taken off the menu but Chef had made special arrangements to have a delicious replacement available to me and the birthday boy, many thanks!
The wine, food and service were so gracious and generous. Time flew as stories were told and memories created.

Menu is limited and odd. The service was ok, but the atmosphere is top notch.

The tasting menu was amazing. Every plate had its own special flavours and no duplication of flavours. I highly recommend. If you have a larger appetite you should also order an appetizer first. The cocktails were fabulous as well. Highly recommend!

The serving staff was extremely well-informed about the tasting menu and translated that information in an interesting and enjoyable manner.

Limited menu and steak was very tough with tons of gristle-- not good at all .

The Courtney Room is my all time favourite restaurant, every time I go I have a wonderful time.

We just had our anniversary dinner at the Courtney Room. We enjoyed the chef's tasting menu and enjoyed every dish. The wine pairings went well with the dishes.
